Baby draw ... When did everybody's hook suudenly turn into a "baby draw." And what does "baby draw" even mean? Do babies draw? Is it smaller than an adult draw? Where does it fall on the hook spectrum? Or is it just really somebody trying to sound like they know what they're talking about when they've watched too much TV golf?

Wow. I must not be as crotchety and intolerant as I thought. Other than the stupid crap idiots yell at tournaments and “divot tool”, hardly any of the things mentioned bother me one bit. Interesting.

I love hitting trap draws and butter cuts and enjoy when the announcers clarify who has the outright lead.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a back up set but I’ve been gaming my hogans so long that I just don’t think anything can kick them out of the bag.

When announcers say “That putt was well holed” and when a player is “a tremendous striker of the ball”.

Anything referring to "metal". Fairway metal. 3-metal. 5-metal. Metal-wood. The pro players don't call it that, the manufacturers don't call it that, no recreational golfers call it that. Just the DBs on TV use that stupid terminology. By now, we're all not going to change, so TV should just stop.

I can just see the squirmy little, OCD-afflicted producer ranting to his on-air crew to use the "metal" word. They've been brow-beaten into using that term so long they don't even know they're doing it any more.

Back up set? For what? What are we backing up? In case of theft? Unless you’re using them regularly they aren’t a back up set. They’re just a set taking up space in your house and head for when your swing is amiss. Tinkering is awesome but having another “set” is a built in excuse that

You aren’t used to this/that set.

I have extra clubs. I’m sure I could make up “back up sets”. They are just clubs I don’t use. I’m not racing and I crashed my primary clubs in qualifying and I’m bringing out the back up set. If I haven’t used them in 6 month perhaps they help me fetch something newer for less.

"Outright lead." What the "f" is an "outright lead"? You either have the lead or you don't. There is nothing "outright" about it.

Outright lead, as in, you're not tied for the lead. If you're tied for the lead, you still have the lead.

If it's a matter of tying for the lead they say, "This is to tie for the lead." If they say, "This is for the lead," well that is pretty self-explanatory. No need for "outright".

Calling a course a "track"

Just stab me in the eardrum every time I hear that.

I always thought it was tract? as in tract of land..

Facts aren’t needed here. Man I could use an expresso

"left to right" or "right to left". Not even remotely accurate description and just too many words, two more than needed.

The ball curves to the left or to the right, it does not move from right to left or vice versa.

The other is "hole location". Last time I checked every single physical object in the know universe has a "location", it is implicit.

No need to add the qualifier "location".

Only in golf do you hear this....

And I am not talking about the occassional time when the announcers will discuss how the hole location affects the putt due to slope. Then it is gramatically correct.

I mean they say "hole location" when they really mean the hole....

Next thing you know they will be talking about the "location location".

Ok - this one drives me f’ing nuts: “Player X’s US Open Scripting” to describe the 4 outfits they are going to wear at the tourney. Scripting? WTF? That’s not a script! It’s a clothes selection or wardrobe choice.
