I may even build a TS3/Score LT combo for the hell of it.

I like it!

I have 2 Score LT shafts on the way with a Max 7i head. Thanks to @Sparkey67 I will compare it to the STi2 7 iron. I decided to start with the steel shaft comparison and go from there. My first adventure like this so I am looking forward to it. 😁

Well.. after weeks of researching I called to order. Even though there is an option for the TS3 Kuro Kage pak on their website in stiff, they said its on backorder till July. They said unless I wanted the TT shaft, I would have to individually buy every shaft and every grip which even with a $30 shaft would end up being like $300+ more.

Disappointing.

I asked Britt if the length of the shaft affects the flex and he replied no. It may change the cpm slightly and the shorter shaft will feel stiffer depending on the head weight.
Because the Golfworks heads are designed around shorter bore to ground measurements the weights of the heads are adjusted to ensure the proper feel. Since so many of them are adjustable that can also help with the feel but the actual stiffness rating of the shaft doesn’t change.

Can't agree with this.  Head weight is a separate variable from the Bottom of Bore to Ground Measurement.

Head weight effects feel. The issue at hand is about feel. Vince24 is concerned about the effect of a longer than usual shaft. Some cautioned the shaft would be stiffer because of the longer butt section. According to Britt this is incorrect, there will be no impact on the stiffness. Another club builder commented the cpm went up on a shorter shaft which is what I had asserted here earlier. My point about he ground measurements is the slightly long shafts used in Maltby clubs is factored into the designs so there shouldn’t be any concern about how the shaft is trimmed unless the golfer has a specific fitting per that particular shaft.

If the BBGM is 1/2" shorter for example, the same shaft will generally play as if it's hard-stepped once....or tip trimmed 1/2" extra for .370" parallel tip shafts.  The bore through Callaway iron heads from the past had a BBGM of nearly zero and would play as if they were hard-stepped 2-3 times, if we didn't make an adjustment to the shaft install.

As always, an attempt at an exact shaft match depends on what head designs we are comparing them in....and accounting for the BBGM's

I give up, no matter how much evidence is presented there are those who believe something else. Everything else being the same a shorter shaft is stiffer except in this thread.

This is absolutely correct. A shorter shaft is without doubt stiffer. Cutting from the butt end has minor changes is flex. Cutting from the tip end greatly effects flex. These points can not be debated.

What happens with Zero BBGM is that the head has moved further up the tip, once epoxied that covered tip can't flex.  A tip of a shaft can not flex inside of the head. So covering up the shaft tip with the head changes flex.

With that same shaft and a regular head installed there is more tip exposed, so its allowed to flex. So the shaft is more flexible.

With the TS3 and the TS4 heads the lower BBGM will show a stiffer shaft but it's effects are not drastic.

We would also have to address the hosel length and the amount of shaft that is inserted.  I guess ideally, trim should be based on amount of exposed shaft.  I probably am not as sensitive to slight flex differences as the average WRX'er. 🙂

The TS1M felt better than the TS4 ?? Interesting 🧐

Remember that feel is a very personal thing. Also, it will be affected in unpredictable ways by other factors such as shaft and grip. using graphite shafts and winn midsize wrap grips, I do not personally notice a big difference in feel between the TS4 PW and the IM 9i.

Why would I want to demo only one club? I would need to buy 6 or 7: TS1/2/3/4/1IM, KE4 Max and STi2 is not unreasonable. That's 7 clubs and a full set of irons in and of itself.

It's how most demo programs work.  Usually the 7 iron is sent at a discount rate with money back if it's returned.

You do realize that @Colejwas trying to give you an option?  You aren't going to find a golfworks fitting studio unless you visit a club builder who is familiar with golfworks (Maltby) components.

Mostly Wishon with a few Tour Edge Exotics, Cobra, Cleveland, and one Odyssey mixed in.

Does anybody happen to have a 56 Tour Grind MG (dbm) that they would be willing to sell?

If not... can anybody suggest another companies dbm wedge? I know it's insane but I want it to match the DBM irons.

Are you mainly wanting the darker color?  Their current version of that finish is the DRM wedge, that is still darker than most....

They could build you just one club. You wouldn’t be out a bunch of money.

But I want try them all lol.. Sub 70 has a demo setup, I think it’s really what sells the clubs. I’ve owned Maltby stuff in the past and I think they make excellent stuff. When people try it and realize it’s a 1/3 of the cost vs. big brands. It’s a no brainer. 👍

maltby is a golf component sales business. They happen to build clubs as well. To compare them to Taylormade or Callaway, where you could go to multiple places, is not a fair assessment. That’s not what the Maltby business model is.

I appreciate that they take the time to put numbers and ratings with their heads. They don’t just say this club launches higher than this one with no data to back it up.

Get a Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth. I added a 56 to my DBM set and got it from Second Swing and it fits in nicely.

The DRM wedges look great with the darker finish. Nice wedges. I have a 54 with a Rifle shaft.
