Felt impulsive but really I have been thinking about this for a few months. I just ordered a 7 iron with the FST 125 shaft in standard L/L/L to be built up by golfworks. The rep on the phone confirmed that they will not credit that against a future pak purchase so I will likely be putting this up on BST eventually either because I will be ordering an entire pack OR it didn't work out for me.

I would maybe assume they wouldn't put it towards a PAK since they won't have a PAK made up with the FST shaft?

The rep explained it as more of a "we don't do that anymore" thing and a shift in policy. In any event, I love to test new clubs and shafts and all that stuff so will happily test against my KBS Tour 120 and Dynamic Gold R300 shafts even though the club heads will be different.

That’s because the FST shafts aren’t in paks

Ya that's a completely different response than what I got just over a month ago. I wonder if there is a difference in who you talk to? Its odd that a few of us can inquire on this via email or phone call and receive different answers 🤔

Have fun with the demo 👍

GolfWorks Canada did a substitution in a pak for me in August.

I don't follow. Isn't a pak a per club thing? You cant just order the 5, 6, 8, 9, P or whatever and keep your 7?

Thank you.  I had assumed it was the same "per" iron cost whether you bought one iron or 7.  Bad assumption.

Thoughts on doing a combo set: 4-7 TS1 IM and 8-PW TS4. Anyone have experience on how they would blend?

What are you looking to accomplish with a combo set?  A few different options

The TS1-IM has a slightly taller face with one extra groove...and a slightly higher AVCOG compared to the TS4

I bought a TS1 IM 7 iron to try and really like it. My thought is that the TS4 would be a little more accurate in the scoring irons since it’s not injected. Also, the TS4 lofts would transition better to my 52 degree wedge. However, I am probably completely overthinking it.

Anybody know if Golfworks does any Black Friday/Christmas sales? I'm in the process of building my dad a bag as a birthday gift and I'm down to figuring out irons/wedges. I think I'm gonna go KE4 Max and TSW wedges, but don't want to pull the trigger if sales are gonna be around the corner.

I’m happy the new TE+ have proper lofts, but it just reinforces how upset I am that they took their most players style iron in the TE 4 and gave it such absurd lofts.

I’d wager most players who want a blade want traditional loft gapping to match their traditional wedges - 60, 56, 52, 47/48, and on down by 4 degrees until the long irons.

the TE 4 lofts pretty much eliminate the possibility of me buying them despite the head being the most desirable for me.

Anyone have an order in with Xcaliber. Seems to have gone dark over there. Had an order in since the 11th. No acknowledgment and order is unfulfilled. Emails are unanswered as well??

I think at one point a couple years ago the owner had some health issues.  Idk if that may be the cause again

Apologies if I come off argumentative, assuredly not my intention.

It's all about what you consider traditional.  The TS4 are very close to FG17 lofts, albeit one club stronger.  I consider that far more traditional than a 47* or 48* PW.

Another "IMHO moment"...  I wouldn't call the 4* wedge loft spacing traditional, either.  Perhaps I'm a product of my Golden Ram environment, and the Watson 50/55/60 wedge lofts.  🙂

I get what you're saying,, but my interest was piqued seeing the TS4 lofts.

The TS4 lofts lined up very well with my 58° and 54°. I like the TS4 gap wedge because the bounce is low. Makes it perfect for bump and runs around the fringe. IMO the TS4s are designed for more modest swing speeds which benefit from the lower CG or for low ball flight higher swing speeds. Regardless, the modern loft progression fits the mass distribution to achieve good ball flights and apex heights. Even the new Mizuno blades (221) start PW at 46°.

I believe they might have sales on some components like grips, golf equipment (not clubs), and maybe shipping promos?

Not on the actual clubs though. I've never seen any holiday specials on regular clubs. I guess they consider their stuff on sale year-round 😁

I never understood this logic. Scoring irons aside, would this still not be a concern, for those that feel it is, no matter where you blend the set?

Will the 5 iron be less accurate because it's injected, and the 6 iron is not? What about the injected 4 verses the non-injected 5?

Just go all in on one of the sets.

Well....   robot testing has shown that blades produce a smaller dispersion pattern on good hits than CBs.  The hollow heads are essentially a form of CB.

Then there's the spring face effect, which introduces an additional variable.  I suspect it's more a problem as one's speed increases, but that's just speculation.

Sure no argument, just discussion. I’m going off my mp60s which I believe we’re 1 degree strong over the blades. They go 47, 43, 39, 35.

I have a set of Toski blades that are 4 degree gaps from 20 on down to 48.

ts4 at 45.5, 41, 37 is wonky.

te+ at 48, 44, 40, 36 is just right.

I absolutely love those consistent 4* gaps.  Decidedly not a fan of the 3* gaps that have long been on the long end of so many sets.

A number of my sets in the 47-48* range for PW lofts, I've set to 4* gaps from 21 to 49.

TS4 has the second highest CG of all the current Maltby offerings, only the TS1-IM is higher. Note that I'm not considering the TS2 to be current as it looks like they are phasing it out.

The irony is that it's not all that high a CG.  It just is compared to the quite low CGs in the rest of the product lineup.  🙂

Just go all in on one of the sets.

The point is that people are willing to sacrifice accuracy for distance with the longer irons as that is typically the bigger issue. In the short irons they don't need help with the distance so you go with the more accurate club.

Very true! Maltby is all in on low CG so even the higher ones are still low. I'd love to give the new TE+ a shot but my issue is I hit the ball too high so I don't think it will fit me very well.
