Maltby TS2

The TE+ is likely to be a better combo choice for most, with the TS4.  They have the same "pearl" finish and the top-line and profile shape are a closer match vs the TS3,...which has a "satin chrome" finish that has more shine to it and a wider top-line

Thank you! Will consider that, they are cheaper even and spec wise look almost identical.

On another topic, does anyone know if golfworks does Black Friday deals?

Golfworks doesn’t do, or at least hasn’t done, any Black Friday deals for regular priced club heads.  They sometimes do sales on some tools or accessories and with some luck may do sales on close our heads but that would be unusual.

I have fairly big hands, I'm 6'3". I play the plus 4 midsize now and like them but just want to tinker and see if they let me grip a bit lighter.

IMO, grip size doesn't make you grip any lighter and too big might make you grip harder. Give it a try but smaller grips let me grip lighter as the are easier to hold onto.

Listed a 5 thru Lw (TS3/MaxMilled) in the classifieds.

Definitely love the TS3s but I settled on the TS4s (w/recoils(elbow crap)).  I can't help but tinkering.

Been following and occasionally posting on this thread for a while now. I’m making the switch from TS-1 to TS-1IM this week. I’m playing PX 6.0 from 5i-GW currently. But I also have the 4i shaft in the set. Wondering if anyone can help…

Would the difference in bottom bore to ground between the heads make any difference in shaft flex? I’m assuming a difference in length which I’m fine with. Has anyone reshafted and noticed any other differences?

Whenever you pull a shaft to put in a new head, the difference between the length of that club versus the length of the new club (difference in BBGM) will be the difference in flex (assuming clubhead weight is the same.) So a 38 inch TS1 5 iron will be 1 soft step from a 37.5 TS 1M 5 iron.  Sensitivity to  hard/soft stepping varies by player.  If you were to add weight to the shorter club to make them each the same swingweight, then both clubs would have essentially the same flex as the TS1M essentially has the length and weight of a 6 iron.

I’m not sure if it’s some kind of website error or on purpose. But there are quite a few items that are priced much cheaper than normal. TS-1 IM and TS-4 heads are $6 off and a few others are a few bucks cheaper as well. It also appears that they might have switched to a flat rate shipping system. I was able to save around $75 off what I originally priced up the cost of new iron and wedge heads.

Not seeing that on my end. What was the price you saw for ts1im?

I paid $53.99. Normally they are listed for $59.99. I’m in the US.

By any chance do you have a business license or some other form of a preferred customer on file with them?  If so it would explain the price differences.

Mostly Wishon with a few Tour Edge Exotics, Cobra, Cleveland, and one Odyssey mixed in.

Hey Guys,

Still a huge fan of my TS1-IMs. I tend to hit incredibly well at the range with seemingly little aid from the mat, and stink it up on the course. I've been having issue getting my grip correct and keeping the club face from opening. Using midsize grips as I have wide hands, but judging from a post above, that might be a mistake for me. Currently bagging the TSW 56 degree. I have a max milled and the PTM 4 putter with the puretrack SS shaft to hopefully help smooth out putts.

What other sets of Maltby Irons would you guys recommend? The TS3, TE+ V4, DBMS, and KE Max all seem so appealing. Outside of Maltby, the JPX 923's have had my attention for a while, but I dont want to stray from Maltby. Let's pretend "need" and "money" aren't factors for responses.

I'm a 31 y.o. male. Very high handicap currently, but have come a long long way in my first year. Club speed is definitely on the slower for my age as I have to swing smooth and slow to actually make good contact.

KE Max would probably fit the bill, but compared to the new stuff, it's a bit ugly. I'd have no issue gaming them if it added consistency to my play.

@Popeye64 Thanks for the Cobra Baffler hybrid recommendation. I have 2 more coming, DWS Hybrids are an insane value. Just so easy to hit and get into the air. Any drivers/woods you reccomend? I bought a used Cobra f9 Speedback driver for $100, but it was an extra stiff shaft that doesnt fit me well. I put in a 5-6 hours getting a swing and routine together so I could hit it 175+ and straightish every time, but I've been having a lot of embarrassing struggles in the teebox when it comes time to perform.

Thanks in advance

In your post you mentioned leaving the face open but putting that aside...where is your "miss" on the face? All over? Thin? Toe Side? Heel side?

For what it is worth, I tried the TE+ V4 DBM and it was good but I wouldn't call it tremendously forgiving. Fairly thin topline, toe misses were harsh. I am not the best ballstriker in the world but as 2-3 HDCP I can get around the course and while I loved the look of the TE+ it didn't give me a big forgiveness upgrade or change my ballflight tremendously. But like you mentioned, they look great and while the KE4 Max seem to have a lot of great playability items they are a bit ugly (for me). Still have a little too much vanity to play those. It's a  personal problem.

That said, I have a TS-3 (in exchange for my DBM head, thanks to @htaolx ) on the way because (a) it seems like it might have a little bit more help toeside thanks to the tungsten toe injection and (b) I love to tinker.

The TS1-IM irons are not what’s making you “stink it up on the course”. They should be plenty forgiving from what people have said on here.
Maybe see your local pro for a quick lesson or 2 as a refresher?
He can also help with your driver question. Maybe recommend a different shaft. 175 yards and extra stiff doesn’t sound good. You could easily find shafts on the ‘Bay for the Cobra head you have. Lots of people like that head, and there are so many shafts that Cobra offered for their drivers. All the tips from different years will fit, from the Fly Z and newer.
And I agree, those DWS hybrids are easy to hit.
Good luck!

I ended up replacing the TS-1 heads and TSW heads yesterday. I couldn’t be happier with how they came out. I went with a set of Golfworks’ newer designer type ferrules. PX 6.0 in the irons and PX 6.5 8 iron shafts in the wedges.IMG_6594.jpeg.d776d75f52930225b2126ab6e8f7b205.jpegIMG_6593.jpeg.b3fe9512bed757cdc0fd1b382e277e1a.jpegIMG_6599.jpeg.b633fb2cfc602b4d8d2037d6a399782b.jpegIMG_6598.jpeg.058d24b6a0c75fd37209f41232fb98fd.jpegIMG_6595.jpeg.a5fe8eebcb9daf90a91f7f16f0b4af1d.jpegIMG_6597.jpeg.893ca54feac472084f129372cf8c3f1a.jpegIMG_6596.jpeg.47b1d93841c205a62ccbceb06d61328a.jpeg

Have you tried the Max Milled yet? I really like the idea of the full face grooves but the TSW are supposed to be a wedge that you can manipulate more and I really like manipulating the face.

It's not the clubs at all. Range or on the course. It's many many issues, primarily swing but also alignment and clubhead face at impact. When I try to add speed, I end up adding power instead and my swing loses all smoothness. I reliably end up hitting behind the ball.

I wouldnt lie to strangers on the internet, I am average weight by 2023 standards, but morbidly obese by 1995 standards. That sort of fat. Still, I played a decade or more of football, and I still do boxing and kick boxing. I've hit it ~250+ at the range, but with no consistency shot to shot. I used to not "hit up" with driver much at all, now I seem to be hitting with the top of the crown. I should look to get more practice and possibly a different shaft. Reshafting that club will cost about what I paid for it, though.

Buried on here is a post about me reviewing the TS1-IM's. After years of trying to learn to hit pricy Taylormade CGB's and becoming discouraged and frustrated. I was a new golfer who couldnt get the ball in the air. Going to the range to top 60 balls was torture. I took ~6-7  lessons in that time frame. I'm still new,  In this rare case, my very thick soled and heavy offset clubs were hindering me to the point that I hated golf and didn't want to practice.

This new set of irons has given me the joy of golf...I am at the range hitting 100 balls almost every day now. Day 1 with TS1-IMs and I was a better golfer than even my best day with those taylormades.

I am hugely enthusiastic and hugely unskilled. I do plan to take more lessons and will actually benefit this time. But I want, not need, more maltby irons.

I played the Max Milled before in the 54° .90” sole. If you like manipulate the face the TSW is probably best but the .90” sole can be opened up more than you would think. My only issue with it was that the transition coming from the hosel looked strange. It’s much more pleasing to the eye on the 1.05” sole.

My old 58° was a TSW. As a 5 handicap, conventional wisdom would suggest that I would have enough skill to mess with those exotic shots around the greens. But low bounce killed me in the softer conditions I play in. Failed experiment, went back to a bigger sole and will play about +95% of my shots with a square face stock shot.

It’s a shame they got rid of the FGT wedges. If you could find some around, it sounds like they would fit the bill.
