Maltby TS2

Kinda random, but how do the TS4s compare to something like an MB blade? Titleist, Callaway, etc.

subjective but more forgiving, maybe slightly larger, really good looking,  don’t think I’ve felt any sort of harsh stinger ever with them.  My miss is thin and I can catch bottom groove and nearly full distance on line.  Confidence inspiring.  Flushed shots feel, well, bonkers.

Since the TS4 is an MB, it compares very similarly.
My previous blades were Nike VR Pro's, Srixon Z965, and Bridgestone 220MB.

The TS4 (I have the DBM) are very slightly firmer, mainly because they use a slightly harder steel. But they still feel great on flushed shots. Just as workable as anything else, and look great at address.
I've found them to be very slightly better on thin strikes, and they are the best blade I've ever played on high toe strikes, by a good margin.

I've tried a couple forged CB's over the last few years, and always ended up back in blades for the feel. The TS4's give me the feel I've always preferred, just like any other blade. But their performance surpasses everything else I've ever played. These might be the last irons I ever buy.

same here on all accounts. I'm going to buy another set of heads for when I get tired of the DBM. satin ones. best clubs Ive ever sued and it's not close. for me.

In case anyone was curious, here is my iteration of a "zero" torque putter per Maltby's recommendation.

Add a LH neck to a RH head and it pushes the face forward and aligns the shaft closer to the COG. I'm not sure if this is really zero torque but definitely reduced torque. Using it Saturday for the first time so TBC..

How does it look at address.  Hard to tell from the pics.  I prefer a single bend vs multi-bend shaft for a little onset vs. offset.....curious how this differs.  Seems to me that the Zero torque putters have the shaft at the center of putter but a little ways inward or towards the rear with the shaft angling slightly towards the face./?...maybe the LH recreates the shaft angle?

I know you posted a pic of the hybrid, but do you have another hybrid to compare it to pic wise?it looked huge almost FW like.

I do not have a picture comparing it against anything else.

I do have a Cobra T-rail at the house and its very similar in size.

There is a very generous sole radius toe to heal. This allows the club to get down into the rough, or as stated perfectly pick a ball out of a bunker.

To a purist the size may certainly be off putting. I for one wasn't thrilled dropping it in the bag. But good lord does it perform way better than expected.

This picture gives a good view of that radius.

You are, once again, conflicting my plan!  LOL    I have a "flighted" set of RT waiting for my next Maltby selection.     I have the #4 IST.. It is truly a great club...    I may go with the new TS-3.5  in #7-GW--

How would the #4- #6 IST   Gap?

So during my hybrid 'transition'.... I wanted to just start out with the 3 IST, 20° and 6 IST, 29°. I have not reached for my 4 or 5 iron since those two hit the bag. I have been able to dial up or down and get those clubs to fill some giant gaps. I think the 4, 6 combo would be even better, maintaining a steadier swing to control distances. Keeping the 4 and 6 IST in the bag would allow an extra wedge or maybe a 7 wood.

My biggest fear was a bounding ball into a green that wouldn't stop. With the added height the IST give me, stopping power is excellent.

As a side note the flight of these is very straight. Yet its easy to hit a giant draw from under a tree limb or slide a fade into a tucked pin. I only have 4 rounds with these, I'm continually in awe of how versatile they have been. I'll complete the bag with the 4 and 5, but I'm not convinced it necessary to carry them all.

Btw the RTi is amazing as a Hybrid shaft.

That is some great thinking. Did you have to bend the hosel much to get the proper face angle?

So I opted for the 1" neck. If you follow the shaft line it would sit directly in the center of the front part of the head. That said, I opted to make the shaft run perpendicular to the face. This neck allows for it and I prefer the look at address. I could have angled it slightly as to put the hands right over the face but I didn't love that.

My buddy plays the L.A.B. DF3 and fro. What I recall the shaft runs pretty perpendicular to the face. Playing with him Saturday so I'll definitely do some comparing of the 2. Just from rolling some putts in the house it doesn't feel like I'm fighting the face as much to keep a SFSB stroke. I wouldn't necessarily say it's 0 torque.. but greatly reduced. Saturday's round will tell all.

there's not a better look than my DBM TS4's with MMT shafts out there.

I don't know, they look pretty good with Dart V's in them too.

Haven't done anything with the face angle.. yet. I need to play it and then get it measured and then I'll determine if I need to have it adjusted. I'm guessing it is playing pretty true to the 3° stated loft as the bottom sits flush to the ground at address with the angle that I installed the neck/shaft.

Good thing about knowing how to build is that I can easily undo and redo (I've got plenty of experience in that department 😜)

Case in point today-   168 out- ball in rough-- choke down on the #4 IST..  Ball lands on green and runs to the back-- green slopes away..   I am so curious what a full swing #6 IST would do!!

Here is my Cobra 7 wood cover vs the Maltby IST hybrid head covers.   It looks slim to me and seems like a nice quality.    Hope this helps.

I have the 2022 version Cleveland Hywood (18*) and the new Cleveland Halo XL 4h and finally an old Cleveland DST 5h 26* circa 2012-2013 with a Diamana R shaft.  I love my Cleveland hybrids.  Really only hybrids I hit well with any level of consistency.  Got my 1st H.I-1 after 40 years of playing golf with the Hywood last year.  Needless to say I'm a Cleveland hybrid fanboy.  I hit the 5h fairly well and like the performance I get with it.  I'm looking to replace it but don't want to spend $200+ to get the new Halo.  How would you compare the Pro IST hybrids to the Cleveland?  If they're close, I'm going for the Maltby.

I have not tried other Cleveland hybrids so it’s hard for me to compare, just the original 18* hy-wood. I prefer the shorter shaft of a hybrid over fairway wood lengths, which is what led me to it. I’ve also never had good luck with 2h’s or 3h’s since I don’t generate enough SS and spin to get enough carry with that low of loft, but the hy-wood has been a best of both worlds for me- shorter than fairway shaft, able to launch it like a 5 wood.
As Popeye has mentioned, the Maltby Pro IST 6h head is bigger than I wanted to see, but my first two rounds with it have produced the results I was hoping for.

Also.. for all the whippy shaft whack jobs out there like me, and if anybody's see the OttoPhlex experiment on the other forum, I glued up a Maltby UL A flex for my Cobra DS-X.. testing these out tonight on the sim

Irons go to 5. Then 9w, 7w, 3w, and driver. My 7 year old is constantly asking me about the "olden days" so I guess I have to act my age now.. I'm 46🤦‍♂️..

I mean, who do we think we are playing these youngster irons anyway?

This might have to be my next purchase.. the problem would be finding an open spot in my golf bag.. and would this be considered a 15th club? If so I might have to ditch one of my wedges.
