Could be the epoxy creaking in the hosel. I've had it happen. Sometimes a bad batch, sometimes not roughed up enough on the tip/hosel, etc.

@vandyfanI second the possibility of the epoxy possibly breaking down. Since they are steel, I'd give them a good twist and if they pop while twisting, you've got a possible shaft working it's way loose. Good to get ahead of it before you send a boomerang into the driving range.

'Creaking' is almost always epoxy with a steel shaft. It can also be the ferrule moving around. A graphite shaft will creak when it has structural fractures.

As long as the shaft is not rotating in the head and they play well, just keep hitting them. If it's driving you crazy pull one of the heads. Scuff up the shaft and ferrule really well. Reassemble and see if you got it.

Question... blow on grips or taped on??

If it is the head I wonder if it's related to this? Looks like the were pretty aggressive in turning the ferrule, wonder if some acetone got in the glue or they did this before the epoxy had not fully set to get it out the door quickly. You can see where they wiped with acetone and left a residue with the discoloration in the metal. The ferrule itself looks "chewed up" at the base by the hosel.

We have some good detectives on there! It definitely sounds like it closer to the clubhead and likely is at the junction point with the ferrule.

@Popeye64 I assume taped on since Golfworks assembled it but not sure.

I was wondering why there is not nearly as much love for the Maltby drivers and woods as there is for the irons.  I have a set of the original ts1 irons which I love and was thinking about trying out the driver and woods, but am a little hesitant since it seems that even among Maltby fans, hardly anyone uses them.  Do the woods simply not match up as well against the big boys as the irons?

I never really cared for the Maltby woods, but the KE4 Tour TC fairways are top notch.  I have the 4 wood in my bag and it has bested several nice OEM fairways.  I could tell the head was better so I transplanted my $200 shaft from my fitted Callaway 4w into the Maltby.....and I promptly sold that head for more than the KE4 cost.  I'm surprised these fairways didn't generate more buzz, but maybe they could use a cosmetic makeover.  I'd be first in line if they made a KE4 Tour TC 7 wood.

I tried the KE4 Tour TC driver and liked it a lot.  It performs about as well as anything.  That said I didn't like it quite as much as some other OEM offerings.  Still at it's price point, I can't knock it.  I have not yet tried the TC Max, but I would love to.

I play the KE4 Tour TC driver and 4w. I love them both. Humble brag but I can still move it and I agree with Popeye. They perform. I also like the feel and sound. Once I found the right shafts, I can now work them both ways and they’re just flat out fun. For the cost and being able to apply the savings on shaft hoing, it’s a no brainer.

Can’t wait to see the new Pro driver and adjustable fairways. I hope they kept the raised crowns.

I think what steers away a lot of players is the price point, especially if you use a premium shaft. You could have a 2 year old new or like new callaway driver for the same price.

I think the same could be said with that new ke4 max putter.

I haven't liked a Maltby driver since the original CT250.

That was a HIGH bar that was set wasn't it?    I did not realize it at the time.. Nothing has really come close since.

However- that can be said for EVERY component driver.   The Wishon 919 was a very  similar early legend..  They were smart to keep it around...

At one point Maltby had a gead called the CT250. It was a LEGEND. Distance, feel, sound. They were awesome. Not to mention they were easy to control. There has not been another wow head since.

I have the CT250 Driver, 3, 5 and 7 wood with the S-shafts made for them by Aerotech.  Amazing clubs.

My last Maltby diver cracked after limited use in the same way many have apparently. I would love to see an update of the LogicTech 420 but that’s not going to happen.
I saw a video of a test of past generations of Titleist drivers. Each generation not including the laminate driver, was about 5 yards longer. That’s a significant increase over past couple of generations.

Let me guess the ST2W driver cracked where the crown meets the face?  It’s a shame because I thought that head felt better than the Tour TC.  For me, the tour TC looked much better plus I liked the ability to change shafts 3 times a round, lol

ST2w, right in the center where the face is welded to the crown. I bought it used although it looked brand new and I probably hit it 25 times at most.

I had a customer crack one wide open. But it was beaten to near death on the hosel.

Overall I’m incredibly pleased with these irons. I was initially shocked at how much shorter the blade looked compared to my DBM’s

It's an optical illusion created by a wider top-line and shorter grooves

...

My first full 18 hole round out, I shot my best score ever to par at 5 over. I was able to play full shots and knock-downs even in squishy conditions because of the friendly sole grind and low AVCOG.

I appreciate the kind words!

I have found the same after playing TS3s for the better part of the last few months. They're so easy to get into the air and dispersion is surprisingly tight; they're almost like a golf cheat code!

Try the hybrids next. Also, a cheat code.

Maybe not the best way to source this but does anyone have a TS3 7 iron (or thereabouts) in a stiff shaft that they would want to swap for a TE+ V4 DBM 7 iron that is shafted with FST 125, cut to stiff, standard L/L/L. I have thoroughly demoed the TE+ V4 and it is a great club but not quite what I was looking for. Shoot me a DM.

Thus far I have tried the M890 and STh2 hybrids. I enjoyed both, but my Tour Edge C722 hybrid has won the spot in the bag. Something about the very "iron-like" square toe just does it for me.
