Like many, I’ve been drooling over the DRTs, especially the black version.

But that would mean giving up on the wild ride that is the TSWs. I’ve hit more fat, diggy shots than I have with previous wedges but also more shots inside of 5 feet (from a variety of lies) than I have with any previous wedges.

They are not for the faint of heart but they are weapons when you do what you’re supposed to do.

My time with the TSW will scar me for life

Now that I see everyone talking about the tsw issues...

I started using one last year and have never hit so many diggy chunks, especially through winter! thought it was just me.

You really have to concentrate with the tsw to make sure you stay shallow and pick it clean and even then sometimes it still tries to make its way to the earths core.... it usually happens on about the 15th when you are 2 or 3 over heading for a PB... so you make double, plus a wild drive on 16 because you are stil raging about the chunk on 15 still and then you are grinding to break 80.

Sound familiar?

Looking forward to my DRT!

TSW will take a divot from a tree stump. I maybe hit it clean 2-3 times in the 100 swings I take with it

I have a 54 TSW that I took to a club builder and had him lightly grind the leading edge.  I don’t know if it’s only mental, but I don’t dig as much.  I also have a 54 Max Milled.  On full and 3/4 shots I prefer the TSW.  For square on chips I prefer the Max Milled.  For some reason, I prefer the TSW out of sand.  Like others I’m looking at the DRT.

With the FST's, you would just continue to keep trimming an additional 5/8" for each wedge shaft, same as with the irons.

Personally, If the 9 iron is trimmed 7", I'd trim the PW 7-5/8", and the GW and SW 8-1/4". This equates to the "8 iron spinner trick". For the 60°, you might want to trim less, to get a little softer feel.

Thanks! I also found Howard’s write up on it and says basically the same thing for descending weight shafts.  Just keep trimming lol.
If I had golfworks assemble my set PW/GW to standard specs…what would I tell them for them to assemble a 52/56/60 wedge? To just continue the tip trim one more iron length beyond the set GW (48) for 52/56? Then for the 60 I tell them cut back the tip trim a bit from the 52/56 amount?

Just got my TS3 6-GW assembled by Golfworks.  Standard graphite length with Rapport Core Blue 80S and Royal Linktech grips.

The build quality is excellent.  I was surprised when Golfworks called me to let me know the swingweights were coming out D3-D5 (I had requested at least D2 thinking it would come out lighter).  Kudos to them for verifying that was ok or if I wanted them to counterbalance to get to D2 ( I left them at D3-D5).

I just had a range session and they are great.  The feel on a flush shot is addictive.  Shots out near the toe still feel good but you know where you hit it. Distance loss on toe hits is minimal.  Shots on the heel lose more but still pretty good distance.

I found it very easy to hit high draws and the Rapport 80 stiff shafts respond much better to controlled swings than going after one.

I am coming from PXG Gen 5 XP irons with MMT 80 stiff shafts.

Even though the TS3 irons are 4-5 degrees weaker than the hollow body XPs, the distance on the range seems to be within a club length ( ie TS3 7 iron is within 10 yds of PXG 7 iron).

TS3 top line is thinner although it looks similar due to the way PXG bevels it.

The TS3 soles are definitely thinner and they are shorter heel to toe.   Offset appears slightly less on TS3 but really not that different.

I am a 5-7 handicap and typically hit a straight to slight fade with my MMT shafted PXG irons.  My miss is a pull.

The TS3 with Rapport definitely more of a proper draw with my miss being just a bigger draw.  Makes me think the Rapport shafts are softer profile, or maybe it is the heavier swingweight (D3-D5) vs my PXG (D1-D2).

I'm a 14 cap and have the PXG 0211 XCor2 with the MMT 70R (I'm likely a little older -58-  and a little beat up physically.  My 7i ss overs 78-82 depending upon the way my body feels that given day with a carry of 140-150, again, depending on the day.  The MMT seem perfect for my SS but looking to get the TS3.5 this year.  From your experience is the Rappaport is "softer"?  Not sure if I should go by way of the Rappaport, New Maltby Pro+ in S vs. R flex.

I have a modus 125 wedge shaft in my current 52 degree and is an inch shorter than I’d like it to be.   playing a longer wedge shaft allows me to play the ball further back in my stance and put a nice boring flight on the ball for 100/115 yard shots.   I clip it more consistently.

Has anyone thrown an extension in a wedge shaft?  And how much (general scale 1 to 10 do you believe shaft extensions affect feel?   Less, more, I know it’s subjective…..

I had a whole set of irons and wedges with a mix of full length shafts, and shafts with 1" extensions. It was impossible to tell the difference.

I am 59 with 7 iron ss  85-88 so not far off you.  I tend to have an aggressive transition and over the top move as I am upper body dominate.   I got out to the course in the rain today with nothing but the TS3 irons and got to hit multiple irons from different distances to figure out my averages.

I think the Rapport 80s is definitely softer than the MMT 80s.  The MMT holds up better to aggressive swings, with a pull being my miss if tempo gets too quick.  Today I stepped on multiple  iron shots with the Rapport 80s to see what would happen and got big high draws that drew way more than expected. I had to make sure to swing way more out to the right if I tried to step on it.  Just a slightly more controlled tempo swing and I got really nice flight and great consistent distances.

The Rapport feels very smooth with a noticeable kick feeling, where the MMT feels more solid one piece if that makes sense.  I am always working on tempo, and the rapport with the TS3 heavier swingweights will help me with that I think.

There are far more knowledgeable guys on here, but I think if you like the MMT  70R (Maltby 3B2S), then the new Maltby Pro+ in R (3B3M) or S soft stepped (4B2M) or the Rapport Core Blue 70R (3B2M) could work for a less expensive alternative to your MMT with a similar weight.

Anyone have any comments on the TS4 set GW vs the DRT 50*?

There are some posts earlier in the thread from people loving the TS4 GW.

I'll be building a TS4 7 iron tomorrow, and will test this weekend. If I decide to buy (very likely), I'll be going with the TS4 GW myself, as GW is mostly a full swing club for me.

I put a DRT 56° in the bag last weekend, and am extremely happy with it.

Yeah. Ts4 is what I was leaning towards. AW is almost always a full swing club for me as well. I have the drt 54/58.

Anyone have any comments on the TS4 set GW vs the DRT 50*? I'm usually a set gap wedge kind of guy but open to the thoughts of others.

I've also played set gaps for as long as I can remember. I really liked the TS4 GW when I had that set. When I was sketching out my TE+ build, I was about to follow suit and then at the last minute I just decided to step outside the box and order the DRT GW. Man am I happy that I did. It's absolutely magnificent on full swing shots! Very consistent 125 yds, which gaps up perfectly to my PW. On the mental side, I feel like I can hit any yardage and flighted shot that I need to between 15 and 125 yds. I've found myself using it more for lower, spinny chips if I don't have to clear something and land steep. I'm sure I could have done the same with a set gap, but I just didn't see that option as clearly as I do with a "specialty" wedge like this.

I’ll give the set GW a chance first. I ordered the te+ 5/6/7 as well as the ts4 GW last night. Can’t decide If I’m going to combo at the 7 or 8 with the ts4.

Anyone have issues with turf interaction on the TS4?  Off of mats, I like the ts4 dispersion a bit better than the ts1 im, however I’ve had to hit 3 low shots with the ts4 in the last 2 rounds and they just dig into the ground.  Can’t test them at a range yet because the grass isn’t open.
