Hmm I asked about TS4 digging earlier in thread and was told non-issue.

Anyone have issues with turf interaction on the TS4?  Off of mats, I like the ts4 dispersion a bit better than the ts1 im, however I’ve had to hit 3 low shots with the ts4 in the last 2 rounds and they just dig into the ground.  Can’t test them at a range yet because the grass isn’t open.

If grass ranges aren’t open, I’m guessing you’re somewhere in the north (like me) and you’re coming off winter, is it possible your swing isn’t quite back in the groove yet? Any other variables change with this set from prior set? I know my swing is just starting to come back.

I’m not throwing #shade whatsoever, more as a PSA to anyone reading these 11k posts lol

I think we need to remember each individual’s experience is quite subjective and therefore not to be taken as bible, but as a guide from others feedback with a grain of salt (lowrys seasoning salt if you prefer).  In my eyes the ts4 turf interaction is great, but that’s just my swing…….

no I have an indoor sim.  My AOA is consistently around 4 down with 7 iron.  These were all punch shots, but they all just dug and the ball went no where.  Feel like my other irons get through the turf better on a similar shot.

I've had no digging issues with the TS4.  If I hit it fat, it'll come up short, but the club doesn't stick in the ground or gouge an enormous divot such as what I'd see with my Golden Rams, as one example.

I'm curious what your other irons are, that get thru the turf better?

It sounds like you are hitting the ball a little fat and the bounce is not bailing you out.  If you catch the ball before the turf, there should be no issue.

Makes sense but the bounce is the same on the Ts1 im.  Maybe it’s the width/depth of the sole?  Maybe sample size.  Need an outdoor range to open up to really know.

I’m kind of confused how you know they’re digging if it’s on an indoor Sim?

Yep, I've hit the TS4 and TS1-IMs side by side and definitely did not notice any difference in turf interaction.

7 iron assembled and ready for Saturday and Sunday testing. Looks like another 50°, windy day.

This weekend I'll decide whether to order the full set of TS4's, or put the new Dart V's in my OnOffs.

Anyone played both 2015 OnOff Kuros and TS4's? As long as I get similar forgiveness with the TS4's, I'll be going that way.

I have only played a set of TS4’s for 2 rounds so far. I had the 7 iron in the bag for maybe 5 rounds, as I bought one on here to demo. Have not had any shots dig yet. Nothing like the old MMB-17’s I had. Those things were knives, especially trying to hit a 3/4 type shot.
I did put the TS4 GW in the bag today for the first time. It seemed like it stuck in the ground for me on 2 shots today. Full shots out of rough. Not a digging shot, just like the sole couldn’t get through the grass. I have been playing a Ping Glide 2.0, that I really have hit some great shots with. So it might just be a comfort issue. I will play it again over the weekend. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

Thanks! I also found Howard’s write up on it and says basically the same thing for descending weight shafts.  Just keep trimming lol.
If I had golfworks assemble my set PW/GW to standard specs…what would I tell them for them to assemble a 52/56/60 wedge? To just continue the tip trim one more iron length beyond the set GW (48) for 52/56? Then for the 60 I tell them cut back the tip trim a bit from the 52/56 amount?

Can someone confirm I am understanding this correctly?

Such as is my take, it's based on clubhead weights.

Once you get to the wedges, base your tip trimming on those clubhead weights.  The TS4 PW and GW are both 291g.  The TE Forged+ and TS3 have only a 2g spec difference between PW and GW, which I'd call the same for convenience.  With the DRT wedges, the 54 is 304g and the 56 is 306g, the 52 will is close to similar to the 54, and the 60 is a couple grams lighter than the 56.

Which means, GW same trimming as PW, the 52/54/56 wedges, I might look at an inch more trimming, due to them being about a two clubhead progression greater weight than the PW/GW of the above sets.  The LW probably the same as the SW, but if you feel like parsing it this much, maybe a quarter inch less trim for the LW.

That's how I'd look at it.  <shrug>

Longer post than it probably needed to be.  We'll blame the morning caffeine (and also for any poor editing or general grammar screwups)

Man why'd ya gotta go and post this?😜

Out of all of the Maltby models that I've played, these are the ones that just got away from me. Subjectively the best looking CB's Maltby's designed. I just wasn't in the market for this type of club at the time and these came and went before I could pick some up.

Great build!

I actually picked them up 2 weeks ago from someone on here. The FS thread was closed and I sent him a DM asking if he still had them. I love them so far.

if you like these, wait til you see my TS4 build coming this weekend. They'll be going head to head next week to determine what i'll be playing (hopefully for a long while)

Yeah I played the TS4's for a season and they were so good! I then moved to the TS3's last season, and kind of missed the 4's, but still really liked the 3's. So just recently I built a TE+ set and I'm finding them to be the best of both worlds so far.

@AZstu3245-7 which do you prefer?  PW-GW?  I’ve been on the fence between the two and seeing the TS3.5 has me even more stuck.

The wedge heads also have a longer Bottom of Bore to Ground Measurement, which would further justify extra tip trim in a flex calculation
