I played the ts2 for 3 years. Really nice club. I played them when I was just coming back to serious golf after a semi layoff from moving states 3x and moving houses 6x in a 5 year period.

for you I’d suggest the ts3. They come in dbm as well.

Thank you, I'll spend the extra on sone drt wedges and keep the ts4 short irons up my sleeve if I need them!

Anyone happen to know when the TS-UI is coming out? It is in the latest catalog and even has a place to click on the website but nothing is there.

Last I read on the Maltby forum is mid to late June.

I think it’s the best spot to make the combo switch huh?

Yeah, that is where quite a few combo sets were designed to transition....and it makes a lot of sense with those.

A lot of players are bit more shallow with their strike angle in the "longer half" of their set and a bit more down and through with the "shorter half".....which fits with the slightly lower AVCOG (sweet-spot) of the TE+ and the slightly higher one for the TS4.

Really all that the cavity back of TE+ allows them to do with the design is pull down a little more mass to lower the AVCOG a bit.  Other than that, the TS4 should be about as easy to hit for most, especially in the shorter half of a set

I have Ping G425 irons and I'm looking for some more forgiving super game improvement iron heads due to age.  My son has KE4 Max which I took to the range and I don't like the shape of the head.  It bothers me at address and I don't feel confident with them.  I find the heel/hosel area is too small.  Maybe its what they needed to do to make it ultra game improvement.  Not sure I described that well.   Hopefully it makes sense to others.  I had a look at the catalog but I am not sure if there is some measurement that will tell me what heads will be better for me.  And its hard to tell from the pictures.

Maybe its because I'm used to the 425s and with time I would get used to the KE4 Max.  But maybe there is a head that I'll like better right away.

What current heads with a higher MPF super game improvement rating don't have this kind of shape?

Try the STi2.

I have had the had the KE4Max, TS3 and STi2.  For me, the STi2 are my favorite.  Slightly taller toe and the top line and blade length are similar to the TS3.

Also, I find the sole interaction of the STi2 work better for me than the TS3.

I played the i210 and i230. I actually prefer the i210 as I still have those and I sold the i230’s. Loft for loft they’re exactly the same. They look very similar but the ts4 has a thinner top line and a smidge less offset. Something I was after. The ts4 actually seem easier to hit for me. I’m a picker/sweeper and maybe the ts4 just work better for me.

This is all based on my very early limited testing. I’ve played a few rounds of sim golf with them but the early results are very promising. I’m playing a couple times outside next week so real world testing is coming.

I will add that the te+ in the 5-7 are definitely easier to hit and hit well than the ping i210 and really any “players” club that over ever hit before. It’s a phenomenal design.

time to thin the horde. Selling off 4 sets of clubs here this week.

Well it isn't just a "honeymoon" thing or something that is simply in your head.  The Ping i210 and 230 have very high sweet-spots (AVCOG) at .913" and .898".

Malby TS4 and TE+ are at .761" and .706.

These are very real physical design differences that make them easier to hit from normal to tight lies.....and even more so for a sweeper/picker

That makes a lot of sense. Played a couple more sim rounds last night and this morning and really, really liking them even more.

They used different paint in some of these heads. Some come right off with acetone. Some refuse to come off.

I just took the paint off the sole # on my TS4, and I had to scrape it out with a small screwdriver. I used acetone on a swap for about 30 seconds, which might have softened it a little, but it didn't remove anything.

With the DRT, acetone on a swab took it all out.

Just placed my order for TE+ 4&5, TS4 6-GW.

Weather was terrible this weekend but managed to hit about a dozen shots with the TS4 7 iron over two rounds. Wasn't swinging great, due to cold and wind, but hit a couple decent shots.  Ball really seems to jump off the face. Was able to hit a couple nice, high draws on toe strikes, that carried almost full distance.

I'm going to force myself to play these for at least the next 5 years. I just might be done buying clubs.

Here's a little black paintfill on the #7

The black paintfill on the DBM finish is definitely the way to go! Looking good

Just took out the TS4 DBM set I built for a short range session. These heads are really good and not that hard to hit. I’m surprised how well I hit them, especially on this wet turf.

I built 7-PW and I’ll build the 6 and GW for a round on Tuesday evening.

I’m legit surprised how easy they are to hit. Feel so pure and not the ball melts into the club face when struck.

Pulled the trigger on a KE4 TC Max driver pak with new Pro Series DR this weekend as an anniversary present from my wife (OK, from me). It's hopefully replacing a low-spin Mizuno STG and am going from 45 inches to 44.25 so it should be a big change but hoping one that helps me hit more fairways.

I agree with you that the TS4 in hand are larger in size/longer in blade length that I thought they would be.

I am so glad to see this comment.  Just my opinion and could be wrong, but I think people look at the muscle back design and think of the days of small heads and hard to hit.  You will actually be surprised there is plenty of blade to hit the ball when you are not as stable as you could be. In fairness, it is not a monster sized head like a KE4, but small is not the adjective you will think of when you see the head in person.

Side-by-side the TS4 appears just barely larger than the TS3.  Could be an optical illusion due to different top line thicknesses, but just putting that out there.  Basically, the TS4 isn't really a 'blade'.  TS3 feels better to me, but TS4 was similarly playable and likely wouldn't have noticed any significant performance difference.  I've had the TS3 in the bag for 2+ years now and don't have an itch to try anything else.

The TS4 is like a really sleek Mizuno cavity or blade had a baby with a not-so-chunky game improvement iron. Honestly can't think of a profile I would prefer and the forgiveness is unreal for a players iron.

It's funny how that optical illusion works.  I looked at "from above" images of both on the Golfworks site, and the TS3 *does* look smaller.  As you said, it's probably the topline.  However, the specs show they have an identical blade length.

Fun

I agree the TS3 does look to have a shorter blade length.  The TS4 and TS1-IM look longer.  Weirdly the more I swing the TS3 the less I like the look of it at address. Something about the offset or the way the hosel is blended to the blade just doesn't look right to me.  I love the performance of the TS3 and yet I much prefer looking down on the others. Continuing the TS3 nitpicking it sort of feels too soft to me as well.  Never thought an iron could feel too soft, but I prefer the feel of the TS1-IM and the feedback from mis-hitting the TS4. This all has me wondering if I should now try the TE+......sigh

Just ride out the TS4 if you have them, unless you want to club hoe, then by all means you do you.

I have sets of TS3 and TS1-IM, but just built 6i demos of TS1, TS2, TS4 and KE4 Max.  I think the TE+ was the last model out and I never got around to trying it.  I used to game the OG TE irons among many other Maltby irons.
