One issue is that I'm soft stepping the Dart V's, so the PW gets the 9 iron shaft, and the GW gets the Wedge shaft. So I'm assuming the shaft will be a little stiffer? Maybe I'm wrong. Tbh, I doubt I'd even notice it.

I did have some tip weights, so I bored the tip a little to accept it, and added 5g.

And I'll probably just do 1/4" progression from 9-GW.

All de-badged, and glued up. Need to get up a little early to clean them up a little before I go to work.

I'll get them finished up tomorrow night, ready for the two weekend rounds. Black paintfill will have to wait for Sunday afternoon.

You would have needed another 9i shaft, in order to make the Pw and Gw the same length soft-stepped

Interested in try PXG vs my Maltby TS1-IMs (I know, I know...*ducks*) even though PXG seems to skew fairly high on the VCOG. Would the closest comp be the 0317T? They are also quite high bounce so interested what the difference in turf interaction will be. For the record, I don't have any issues with my TS1-IMs I am just a typical GolfWRX'er that has to try everything under the sun. So far the only irons I have hit that I liked better than the TS1-IMs were the Mizuno 243s. And I have hit a decent number of irons in the last year (P770, T100, T150, Apex CB, i230, Blueprint S, King Tour, TS3, TE+ V4, JPX 923...)

I game the PXG 0211 XCor2 with MMT 70R shafts.  Every time I think about getting the TS3.5 or TS1-IM I go out and play a really good iron round.  When you nut them, they feel like a forged club.  Off the toe or heel you know it but you're not losing much.  I nutted a 7i into a green with a TP5.  Ball landed 2 ft. from the hole pin high and total roll out was about 6 feet.  Left me with around a 7 ft. putt for birdie.  Toe-ish hits I get 140-145.  150 yd. 7i is amazing for me.   Gabe from "Lets Play Through" YT channel did a review on them.

They are being discontinued though but you can still get a deal on them.  That's the only PXG experience I have but my neighbor has the 0311 Gen 6 and loves them

I'm still going to go with some TS3.5 when they are released.  6-G

What was wrong with king tours?

they were fine but not a marked improvement and I didn’t love how they got in and out of the turf for my delivery. From those irons I listed I generally got along with all them except for the Apex CBs and JPXs. Blueprint S was a surprise as well, generally don’t like ping irons.

Thanks Im yesting a ts4 and playing a set of king tours that are fine. Really want a 7w and the maltby keeps calling me. Would you buy it again?

Anyone have experience blending the TE+ with TS4? Never had a combo set and am curious if the slightly stronger lofts will create a gapping issue? TE 6 iron is 28 degrees and TS4 7 iron is 33 degrees, which is a degree stronger than the TS4 6 iron.

if you search back a page or 2 I did just that. I blended the DBM heads of the TE+ at the 5-7, then went TS4 8-AW. TE+ 7 is 32*, TS4 8 is 37*. Its not the worst and gapping seems fine. My thinking was that I could use the help from the 7 up more so anywhere else. Played 3 rounds so far outside with them, and about 7 rounds on the sim with them.

You need to hit them to see actual yardages. 1* is 3 or 4 yards.... You might hit the TS4's farther than the TE+, because of head design. There are also factory tolerances. Gaps on paper might not reflect what you actually see on course.

I would just bend the TE+ 1* weak to solve those "issues."  I was thinking of doing a blended set, but I am pretty steep so I went all TS4

That's why issues is in quotes, because it is not a huge deal. Bending them 1* weak does get you 4* gapping in the set.

Played my first round today. TE+ 4&5, TS4 6-GW. Haven't had any range time.

TS4's are very forgiving, and long. Not sure if it's the head, or the DartV shafts, but I think the TS4's have given me a couple extra yards.

I really don't see a reason to combo below a 5 iron. I'm not concerned about any large gaps at that point. I mostly use the 4 & 5 for par 5 layups, or the occasional long par 3. I'm not good enough that an extra 5 yards between 5i and 6i would make a difference.

Two years ago, I had a Srixon combo set of Z965/Z765, basically the same setup as the Maltby's, with the long irons 1° stronger. Didn't have any gapping issues at all.

I’m seeing the same exact thing. I just need to grab a couple extra MMT shafts and I’ll likely put the ts4 6 and 7 in the bag.

You should always have the actual lofts/lies measured on every brand new set anyways.  Odds are that at least 1 or 2...or more will need to be adjusted to hit your desired loft spec, even if you want stock.

Otherwise you're left at the mercy of the +-1* manufacturing tolerance.  Not a good idea

Golfworks can get you them. I ordered my MMT 105 stiff through them. It took about 8-9 days from the day I ordered to get them to my house.

oh and I have a 125 wedge shaft for sale in the BST 😉

My gapping is appropriate between my TS4 5 iron and my TS3 4 iron, I think in part because I hit the TS3 higher and with more spin due to the lower COG. I would wager you won’t need to adjust the TE+ lofts.

I needed to share this with the only people who would appreciate it: I’m helping a recently retired naval officer fit into a new set of clubs, and I’m using the opportunity as justification for ordering samples of various Maltby heads for “him” to test. 😉

I had to have my son test some too. Haha

After a few rounds with the TS4, anyone else feel like they're just kind of harsh.  Even on perfectly struck shots, they do not have the particularly buttery feel of a typical forged blade.  I find the TS3 is actually much better feeling (long irons are TS3).  I'm contemplating ordering a full set of TS3 for better feel.  Not sure about height though. Don't want moonballs.

TS3 are definitely softer, that's all the feedback I can provide.  I built a TS4 7 iron to test against my TS3s.  I knew after a few swings that the TS3s weren't going anywhere.  They have that melt into the face feeling that was missing from the TS4.

Being that they are forged from the same 1025, that would indicate that the lower AVCOG (sweet-spot) of the TS3 is producing the feel that you like.

All else equal, impact with the AVCOG a bit further beneath the center of the ball will feel more pure or "softer"

Only when I hit them way out on the toe. While they aren't as soft as all the Endo forged irons I've played over the last 10 years, I wouldn't call them harsh. And flushed shots feel like a blade to me.

Unfortunately, flushed shots were a rarity this morning. 😖
