I forget when they exactly came out but does anyone have pictures of DBM irons after a year or more.

It greatly depends on the conditions you play in, and how you care for them. Sandy soil will wear the black off the soles. Hitting balls with sand or dirt on them will scratch the faces, and eventually wear the black off them as well.

I've played a set for 30-35 rounds with virtually zero wear on them, except for my SW.

Don't forget to remove the black paint from the medallion. It makes a world of difference. 😉

Or just pull it right out.

Did you weigh it first? Curious on how much material was removed.

I have a set of wedges from 2020 that have the finish. Still looks great, gets a little bit shiny after all these years but no signs of rust. Also, it's kept the wedge grooves in excellent shape where I'm still getting 10k spin (base on my Uneekor Eye Mini).

They slightly grey over time in the sweet spot. The sole also shows a grey color. WD40 freshens them up nicely. The grey is fairly subtle. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of a well loved DBM. Won't be home for a bit.

Where does the TE+ come in to play from a forgiving and distance factor compared to TS3 or TSiM?

I still have a set of DBM PTM that are boxed up that I haven’t played in about 4 years.   Loved those irons tho.

I found the TE+ to be nearly identical in spin, ball speed, launch, and distance to the TS3.  the TS3 seemed to be slightly more left biased.

My TS3 DBM 7iron is showing a lot of wear after just 2 range sessions....to anyone else with DBM finished clubs, is this normal? I read that the finish was supposed to be really durable.

I have been hitting off of a mats at the range and did hit a lot of balls with it today, probably a full bucket. But it looks like I took a few swings into the cart path or something. FWIW the face still looks pristine.

That isn’t normal with my DBM PTM.  That looks like you have small gravel in the turf.

Those aren't normal brush marks of the mat rubbing off on the iron like one would typically see.  That appears to be something else from the mat causing those marks.  I'd go back and look/inspect.  something was gouging the sole to make those marks.

There are stones or some hard object in the mats you were hitting on. I've played 8 rounds with my TS4's, and the soles don't have a scratch on them.

I've never seen ANY, DBM finished head do that.  And I've had at least 4 sets and many wedges over the years. You are making some serious contact with some sort of stones.

Popeye, you are the expert on Maltby. TE+ vs TS3? What is more forgiving, better looking, better spin and so on?

I'll throw my $.02 your way. IMO the TE+ is every bit as forgiving as the TS3. If your leaning more towards the "player's" look, the TE+ also check those boxes a bit more IMO. The TS3 look great so don't get me wrong, but the top line and profile of the TE+ are just more appealing to my eye. I'm baffled as to why they haven't gotten more traction than they have.

As for the feel, I actually like the TE+ better. It's a little more of a "crisp" (not firm or hard) forged feel. They're just a little more responsive and feel a bit more powerful when struck well. Probably due to the slightly slimmer profile but it's an absolutely perfect mix of butter soft with perfect feedback. After a year with the TS3's, they felt almost absurdly soft and maybe a bit too muted for my preference.

What's interesting is that I had the lofts weakened 2° because I was hitting them about 15 yds further than the TS3's. 150+ yd PW carry just didn't make sense to me so I had them moved to a more traditional lofting and they are an absolute dream!

😅 ok well apparently I really need to double check the mats at this range. Really strange because it didn't feel any different than normal, and I've been going there for a while now with my older clubs...

Thanks all for the input! Loving the clubs otherwise, they are beautiful and have great feel compared to my old chunky iron set.

I have 15+ sim rounds, 6 outdoor rounds, equal amount of outdoor range sessions on my DBM's and mine look nothing like that. hadly any wear yet. It looks like you've been hitting rocks or gravel.

Thanks for this. I wonder why the difference in distance? They have the same loft. 32° seven iron?

Thanks for your feedback. I’m much preferred. The look at least online of the TE plus over the TS3. The sole and top line just look a little bit more clunky on the TS3 but I assumed that came with more forgiveness.

Yeah I was thrown off a little by the extra distance too as they are identical lofts. My only guess is that either I am able to flush them better or maybe slightly more rebound with the thinner profile? I'm really grasping at straws on my assumptions though. I do have them paired with the Pro+ XS shaft which is indeed more firm than the prior MPF S so maybe I'm just able to move the club a little quicker. Who knows?

Another thing that I like a lot more is the finish options. I opted for the pearl and it looks incredible!

That's really strange. Are there actual indentations to confirm that these are indeed in the steel and not just superficial?

I've had my DRT's for almost 2 months now and this is what they look like after been beaten to hell and back. This includes many shots off of AZ desert with granite pebbles, and many a bunker shot from what we refer to as "dirt traps" here. As you can see there are some good deep scratches, but they've really only changed to more of a graphite color.

I played the OG DBM's for about 2 seasons and they were very similar to these. When I sold them, they didn't show any signs of silver coming through. Just a dull dark gray color.

Has anyone had the chrome stripped from the TS4? I know one person on Reddit plated them in copper but I'm curious about just stripping them and playing them raw/letting them patina. I have a set of Nike Forged Blades at Doug Oughton's right now, but I am curious if there were any examples of this with the TS4 in particular.

That's the great thing about the longer horizontal COG or "C-dimension" that all Maltby irons are designed with.  It creates more face area to work with, where they are forgiving towards the toe, but also not unforgiving towards the heel.

This is because impacts that are toe-side of the COG will always tend to twist an iron/wedge more than impacts that are heel-side of the COG.

Having more face area to work with in both the horizontal and vertical directions is their design philosophy in making an iron more "playable" or easier to hit

It’s so logical…which makes me wonder why it’s not more common?

Hi Stu,

How are the DRT out of the sand compared to the Max Milled 58 1.05?

Could not get the TSW DRM 56 out of the sand.  Very difficult for me BUT LOVE my Max Milled 58 1.05 out of the sand.
