Recreating Tiger’s new putter

This is funny....I was going to wait to see what TM does...then, the hands of god made my bag fall over in my driveway when my headcover was rarely off....... huge paint chip. It’s destiny. Come tnrw morning, this thing is headed to BOS to be togerized.

They own the rights to the TW logo. TM could stamp it without the TW logo, just use TW initials.

Yes, Tiger's is just a straight flat black. Surely TM will eventually release his putter, they would be crazy not to.

 

They need to do it right now. Strike when the iron is hot...

They built 4,000 Copper Admore putters for the initial run

since they sell about 100 putters per week in the US. When Tiger put it in play, they got 12,000 orders. He still moves the needle. This is why the putter is on backorder and also why the stock copper SS grip is backordered till 12/31. Any new release of his actual putter with correct neck and finish would have to be planned based on demand and production times.

Just like the Spider craze. This is why the MySpider program exists. When the company can promote its the number 1 model played on the tour for over 40 weeks in a row, you then load up on inventory, and when you capitalize on every color and neck style and still have more, you create MySpider.

I couldn't wait and just grabbed the putter in red/white finish. It isn't so bad. I would love the black a lot more though.

Agree! Tiger's insert is red. BOS said they can't refinish the insert. Also, there is a little "quilted" section on the bottom that is red on Tigers.....on the red Ardmores, it's black. So, the bottom will be all black as pictured above. Tiger's has a little red in there. But, they nailed the paintfill, etc so it's pretty darn close.

 

For the record, this one isn't mine. Mine arrived today. They just sent these pics in to ask to confirm what I wanted done. Clearly someone else from this thread is ahead of me ;). Also, Tiger's really is more a grey-ish black and BOS doesn't have that....but, over time, wear, sun, sand, etc, the black may fade. And, it's pretty darn close.

 

All in all, one heck of spray paint job! sigh...... :wacko:

Are the inserts on Taylormade's putters all the same? Material, etc.? On the copper it is red and on the red the insert is black. Is the only difference color?

Yes, the only difference on the Ardmores is color. And, according to trustworthy sources, Tiger's is the aluminum. It's just red on his putter. Kinda cool that we can get a VERY similar putter in the Armore red...only difference is weight ports (his are lighter), grip, and the True Temper shaft that he uses which is hard to find.

 

As for your broader question, of all TM putters, here is what I've learned.....Tons of research, discussions with TM people, etc. This is hardly all of them, but, some of the most popular in the last several years....

 

Copper Ardmores - aluminum (red color)

Red Ardmores - aluminum (black color)

DJ Spider - 80/20 (silver)

Day Spider - surlyn (black)

My Spider - 3 MM aluminum (can change color)

New Spider Tours - firm surlyn

double bend spider from two years ago 80/20

 

Simple right?!?! ha! As a LONG time Spider user, and now Ardmore 3, it's extremely difficult to keep all this straight. They are very different however. The Jason Day red with surlyn is extremely soft and the sofTEST IMO. I believe the hardest would be the DJ aluminum. The others are all somewhere in between. After years of changing my mind, if I had to pick one, it'd be aluminum (in the new Ardmores, DJ). It just get the ball rolling more on long putts. The Day can feel like a cotton insert at times.

the difference between the Ardmore 3 red and the ardmore 3 TP collection is just color right? so you can get the red with the slant neck and have the same thing, just in a different color. or is the bronze color really what people want?
