NFL weekly pick's contest (season long) 2018

Why is it I am always a sucker for those hooks? Bills +7.5...Ugggly pick! The Colts getting their offensive weapons back, playing at home with a hot Qb against a team that is on their 3rd QB without any offensive weapons whatsoever. The cover was a no-brainer, yet I chose to be a gambler, the contrarian. Not smart. Went with 2 dogs who have been depleted with QB and RB injuries. Against 2 teams with their starting QB's intact and playing healthy. The Rams traveling to S.F were going to win but I thought CJ Beathard would be a gamer at home. Get a backdoor cover +10. No Sir, CJ Beathard was the reason the Rams got out to a 14 point early lead right off the bat. "Throws into coverage," I said it already. Not good at feeling the rush. He is a gamer though. Rams just to good for him to get in a groove. Rams win going away +10 was a pipe dream. Covered the under in the Dallas game thanks to a mysterious flag at the end of the game which helped send a field goal into the goal post from 52 yards instead of 47 which would have been good. The definition of that rule has a loose interpretation and this time it benefited the Redskins when the center for Dallas adjusted his stance causing a lineman to jump. That play is a bit controversial, but a win is a win and we shall take it to the bank. In my rants, I pretty much talked myself into taking the opposite of what I had written down, Colts getting Hylton and Mack back, CJ Beathard's weaknesses, but I wanted to outsmart the book. Wrong answer! Never try and outsmart the data. Stick to your first instincts unless injuries bring about a move. I will try and remember that next week. Congratulations Touch on a stellar prediction of the Redskins vs Dallas Game! I was right at least about you going 2-1 Even if it was the wrong game I loved the Ravens and their defense at home. But we both learned to bet with the teams that have better offenses in 2018. Chiefs, Pats, Saints, Rams are good covers even when they are on the road against good defenses. With the ease QB's have now in the pocket, with the roughing rules, scores are going up and the best offenses have a big advantage. Hail To The Redskins First Place In the NFC East 1-2 Week 7 11-9-1 Overall

Great take my friend.

I really enjoyed this recap post.

Oh yeah, since we are great friends that went to a great many games together at the old RFK (entire Gibbs era),

we must toast a few up on account of getting the W against the dem boobs.....errr Boys.

11-7

Give me Tenn +6.5 (epitome of a buy low sell high here, LAC stayed in Cleveland though I guess so the flight isn't as bad)

Under NE/CHI

Under KC/CIN

2-1 13-8. Kinda lucky I guess with the late cover by tenn and the KC under hitting but I think the Tenn pick was atleast capped right. Two st td's are gonna kill an under pretty much anywhere but that was a wiff by me anyways, Chi has some issues with underneath routes and NE's d stinks. Onto week 8

13-8.

This past week the President came to our fair state for a rally. Its a small state, so you know just about everyone, and the guy with the Make Flyfishing Great Again hat? Yep, proud to know you. Tough week for picks, lots of close games with spreads that honestly don't look too welcoming, but into the morass I will fall with hopes of coming out next week unscathed.

The easy pick is to take the Chiefs any time they play, this kid is making the NFL his own personal playground, but I won't. Same with the Rams, but they are playing GB and it will be an offensive night, I can't believe the over isn't 72.

So let's start with the dumpster fire, and really you can pick either team to define one. Both cities are amazing. Is this a clash of the Ramones v Black Flag, Statue of Liberty v Lincoln Memorial, brownstone v marble? I don't know. I do know Giuliani cleaned up New York with the broken window theory and stop and frisk, and this theory has trickled down to the Beltway and our President likes it. So, really the question is, "Who frisks better nowadays?" According to the tape, Washington has the greatly superior frisker and I am picking the DC Dumpster fire.

First it was Jimi Hendrix, then Kurt Cobain, and most recently Paul Allen. Seattle has had it lumps over the years, and they travel to Detroit to take on a Lions team that thankfully plays indoors so no one has to see them. I think Pete Carroll shows just enough to get his team the win this weekend, so I am taking the Hawks and the points.

It was years ago, and I was in the Stanley Theatre watching amazing bands, Grateful Dead, Kinks, and Jefferson Starship, They all now reside in Cleveland at the rock n roll hall of fame. It was, in my opinion one of the best venues to see a show, and sorry it is no longer used in this capacity. Now, the obvious pick is to take the Steelers coming off the bye since they will be "Riding the Tiger" so to speak, but it feels like Tomlin's teams come out of the bye like a guy deboards a plane after a long weekend from Vegas, so the points is a big ask. Then think about the turnaround of Cleveland, they were famous for fiery rivers and bad sports teams, but now they are famous for good things, but they still haven't turned the Browns around. But it will happen soon, too many good players for them to continue on this trajectory. On the other hand, they are still the Browns, so I am not liking this pick at all, but I am taking the hung over Steelers and the points.

Packers/Rams Over 57

This may be the first week I've decided to simply best the strongest trends (granted, a record of 2-1 or 1-0 against the spread isn't much of a trend, but it's something more than a coin flip or favorite helmet, lol). We'll see how it works out, because I'm really swallowing hard over that 57 points for GB/Rams and Chicago giving a TD. If I'm 0-3 this week, I'm going back to fiercest mascots (sorry Cardinals)!

Denver +10 - Too much in a divisional game, denver keeps it close-ish but never really threatens.

Balt- Elite d that is elite at defending rb's in the passing game and their offence is better than people think, John Brown should be able to attack the secondary.

NO- Too many injuries for minn no idea what your gonna out of Xavier Rhodes or Everson if anything.

The Redskins definitely fall into the undercover trash group; they're just fortunate the rest of their division is pretty terrible as well.

The Browns are going to lose to Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh...But I'll take the Eight for the WIn! Mayfield is good for the close game lock of the week! Browns +8

I am high on Cam Newton and his ability to deliver the mail in the 4th quarter. The MJ of the NFL he wants the ball in his hands in the 4th quarter give me the Panthers +1 at home!

Now for my free pick of the Day, I cannot pick against my Skins for the pool. But I will go on record and say the Redskins have no answers for the short passes to Barkley and Beckham, Shepherd burns them in the 3rd quarter and the Giants win at home.

Say it ain't so!

Good Luck All! Have a Great Week 8 in the NFL!

How bad are the Bills?

NFL Research

@NFLResearch

Danny Amendola is the 4th WR this season to throw a TD pass (Odell Beckham, Albert Wilson, Emmanuel Sanders)

So...

NFL wide receivers have more TD passes this season (4) than the Buffalo Bills (3)

Good Luck All! Have a Great Week 8 in the NFL!

Well, It's not always easy taking the dogs getting the juice. Especially when that Dawg is Hue Jackson. I do not understand how this guy still has a job in the NFL? No excuses. I am extremely happy I was wrong on that pick, in light of the events in Pittsburgh my Mom's hometown area. I always keep up with the Steelers although the Redskins are still my team, thus I was ecstatic that I was wrong about my warning about the Redskins. Odell Beckham be damned, he was making highlight-reel catches up and down the field all day. Is it me or does the owner of the Giants have a bromance with Eli Manning? He sucks! Just plain sucks...Alex Smith is not much better but at least he does not throw picks. The Redskins have a terminator for a running back. "All Day" every Sunday! That game was the second worse quarterback per pass game to watch. Only to be outdone by not so famous Jameis Winston and his penchant for throwing up all over the field and acting like "who me??" Fitzmagic was called upon to save the day and almost did! The Bucs should let Jameis play one quarter and then go to Fitz. He's much better coming off the pine than he is when teams game plan for him.

I will gladly take the L on the +8 Shoeless Jackson Dawgs who lost their bite. He's going to get Mayfield killed. They have a pass catching running back in Duke Johnson and refuse to use him. Makes no sense.

Felt good about the Eagles -3 and Panthers +1 at home. Newton heats up about this time of the year and he did not disappoint. We marvel over Patrick Mahomes and youngsters like Trubisky and Mayfield. We watch in awe when seasoned veterans like Brady, Rodgers who almost beat the Rams, Big Ben, win big games, but the guy who has never had a great supporting cast, and because of his freakish size would get hacked like Shaq when he played for L.A., decided to be a bit childish at times, failed to recover a fumble in the Super Bowl, gets a pretty bad rap. He runs and takes a lot of punishment to pick up crucial yards and first downs when the game is in the balance, connects on many third down tries to everyone in the route tree. Wide receivers, slot receivers, tight ends, running backs, or he will just take it and run. Probably the most efficient goal line running back since the days of Shaun Alexander. Won many a fantasy leagues with Shaun Alexander LoL.

Yes, we are talking about Mr. Panther himself the man everyone loves to hate and hates to love. Superman Cam Newton

My QB's to run my team. 1. Aaron Rodgers 2 Brady 3 Brees 4 Newton 5 Rivers Not bad Company. If Mahomes brings Andy Reid and the Chiefs a title, or DeShaun Watson wins in Houston, I would move them up into the Top 5 club but not yet. Big Ben takes to much punishment. But he deserves a mention.

Worst Quarterbacks Club where would one begin? Any Buffalo QB? Eli Manning for Sure is in that club. Jameis Winston unrealized talent??? Ryan Tannehill flounders in the floodplains of Miami, must be the rising seas?? But I think I will nominate the most relevant QB who just signed a new deal...Not Kirk Cousins, but the other Florida mistake and that is Blake Bortles of the Jaguars. He is the definition of the word "Bumbling." Florida... where you can go and sweat, eat old world Italian food, where spaghetti sauce in Fort Lauderdale is still called gravy, and pick any team and watch terrible quarterback play on a weekly basis. Unless!!!! a bearded man makes an appearance down in the Gulf Coastal area in Tampa Bay.

Week 8 2-1 Overall 13- 10 -1

1-2 this week. Dangling half into the pit of misery at 11-12-1 on the season.

I regretted the KC pick the whole time. -10 is a lot against a Def with a good pass rush. I'm happy with the real W though, so don't mind the L here. With Mack out figured the Jets could at least cover their +7. Wrong again.

Thanks Buccs for taking horrid QB Winston out and putting the beard in.

Lost it with the back door cover. Oh well, that was my first positive win total week in many moons.

Seattle +3 the better team is getting points here W

Cincinnati - 4 1/2 tampa's D is atrocious. L

Chicago -7 in Mitch I put my trust W

for the week 2-1

for the season 11-13 .

I'm still the last place basement dweller!

On the bright side the Redskins beat Dallas and the absolutely trash NY Giants in Back to Back weeks.

The burgundy and gold in first place in the East.

May I join you in the pit of misery??

YES

You may.

Look Q left half a pack of Marlboro's and 1/2 bottle of Woodford Reserve right by his recliner.

It is yours now CHuntsman, oh and welcome to the cellar.

Oh and one more thing. The Bud Light long necks are all mine.
