With temperature dropping, what are people thinking for a softer, cheap ball?

I plan on trying out Wilson Duo U and normally play ZStar.

DuoU, Chrome Soft, and Maxfli Ufli Soft can all he had for under $20 a dozen right now. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Easy, TF D2 Feel is an excellent ball for the fall/winter. I have been playing it during the fall/winter for around 8 years. The Wilson 50 Elite is also a very good ball.

I like to play a Srixon soft feel or even a ladies ball when its in the 40s.

I will try the DT Trusoft at like 50 comp I think. Think they are cheap too.

But 40 degrees in Hou area is like the 2nd coming. High 50’s is more doable temp wise.

For me, it's much less about the softness/compression than it is about finding it in the leaves. Bright orange/pink for me.

Go with the orange. Pink is fine for fishing lures, not golf balls. Haha.

Still 90-95 degrees with 75%-85% humidity where I am *dies inside*

 

I'm going to try the Snell Get Sum when that time comes. Might try a sleeve of the Vice Tour balls as well

I will again use Wilson Elite 50 for fall golf, excellent ball, cheap if I lose them.

I also will use the Wilson 50/50 elite. I think it’s a good ball and I don’t mind losing them in the leaves as much as other balls I’ve used.

Since I have dozens and dozens of different golf balls (chrome soft, z-star, z-star xv, topflite gamer, maxfli softfli, etc.) I am gonna use the topflite gamer's if weather is warmer but if cooler I will switch to the Softfli's. I got a bunch of both with they were only $8 a dozen. I actually like both but the Softfli's are orange, I will probably use them most of the time!

My issue with softer balls has been finding one that’s reasonably good in the wind also.

Currently using ProV1. The last few years, I went Precept Laddie. No issue walking away when it can’t be found in the leaves.

I like to play the same ball year round. When the leaves are out I go to my box of “cart path” balls that are expendable. Otherwise it’s my current ball - TP5X.

I'll typically use urethane balls that I've found throughout the year. But, I have a stash of E6 soft, Supersoft, and Superhot golf balls as well.

 

My strategy is to keep an extra golf ball in my pocket to keep it warm. I rotate golf balls every hole, so that in theory, I'm not playing a cold ball.

I used to play Lethals and those were hard in 40 degree weather.

I have friends that also “heat” the

ball a hand warmer in below 40 weather. Anything to get back the 2-3 club loss in distance

IMO the whole fall/winter ball is more people looking for semi decent 2 piece/budget ball because they don't want to run the risk of losing their normal, more expensive gamers in leaves. Some people claim the ball is more harsh feeling in the colder weather but to me if you rotate a ball every hole or so and keep the next in your pocket the temp isn't going to affect the ball that fast.

I agree with the Maxfli Softfli for the price, cant' beat them. But I'm having a hard time seeing the orange balls in the rough around me. Anyone play the blue color? Wondering if they would be easier to see in leaves. one of my playing partners loves the Wilson 50.

Bridgestone Treosoft. I've been using this in the winter for years. Used to buy them out of a bulk bin at Golfsmith.... But you can usually get them about $15/dozen.

 

I usually play a ProV1, driver swing speed about 105-108.

Exactly! I was going to suggest the same two options. I guess you could at the DT Trusoft or Callaway Supersoft to the list, but they aren't as inexpensive.

True. Another excuse to buy more balls! I do disagree though with your latter argument.

Hitting a Wilson Duo is much less penal on the joints than a Lethal in 30 degree silly season weather.
