It looks like this article about Bandon Dunes just got posted yesterday on their website. Reviews of the course and some already known facts and tips. Looks like they didn't mention Shorty's in this review.

think i heard on a podcast recently that a 'replay' round (and its lower rate) does not have to be on the original course of the day ... anyone know if that's correct?

That's correct. Replay rate is for any of the 4.

There seems to be quite a lot of debate on if Preserve qualifies for replay rate also. I was told directly from Bandon that it does not but others here have said they received a replay rate for it.

I guess it depends on what we define as the replay? When I was there in April, there was no discount for the second round (still $75), but I was able to play it again as my third round of the day and it was free. So a round in the morning was full price, 1 PM off the preserve for $75, 3 PM off the preserve for free.

That's correct. Replay rate is for any of the 4.

And by the way, any after 36 are free!

For our trip, they charged us full price for the Preserve but we were able to count it as one of our rounds for the day. Therefore we got replay rates elsewhere in the day (the other 4 courses). We played Pacific in the morning (full price), then Preserve (full price) and then pulled off another 9 holes on Bandon for free since it was our "3rd" round of the day. I am not sure if that works if Preserve is your first round of the day.

It might be a dab of smugness and a dollop of jadedness on my part, but I think the folks in the PNW forum know a damn sight more than any of these Bandon tips/tricks/reviews that show up on various golf publications/sites.

Some of the observations in that article are just... odd, I guess would be a nice way to put it.
