Project X Catalyst Shafts

Gonna be getting the 100 built up soon in my 790 3i.

Anyone else giving this a try yet in their driving iron?

If these are the shaft I believe they are, I've been testing one of these in an iron for a bit of time. They're super crisp and flight is piercing in my experience. Sorry, I've been out of WRX for a bit dealing with some personal stuff going on the past 6-8 months but I'm healthy again and tobacco free as well. Hopefully I can be much more involved around here this year.

Glad to hear you’re doing better! My plan is to still get my 790 3i installed with the 100. I’m going to wait until March though to see if Modus releases their “Graphite on steel” shaft. If they do I’ll probably pick up another 790 3i and get both of them installed and do a shoot out between them both.

I saw that 19 Callaway Pro irons and Combo set will have Project X Catalyst 100 shafts as standard graphite.

It should be interesting.

I've been playing the 100g 6.0 for the past month to 6 weeks and I love the combo. Great flight and feel. Not stout like recoil F5 but definitely hold their own in stiffness. I play them in my irons and driving irons and will replace shafts in my wedges once I can get more at retail.

I never understand what this "stout" reference means with recoils.

I play 125 f5's In my wedges and I find them soft and supple. Not the slightest bit "stout". I just don't get it. Odd.

It's all irrelevant for me I guess. I've never liked any shafts less than 110 grams I've ever tried anyway.

I really don't understand judging a shaft by using it in a wedge??

Throw a Recoil Proto 125 F5 in your 4 iron and give it a go. Huge difference in Proto vs non-proto and big difference evaluating something besides a wedge IMO. I have not seen many swings the 125 F5 Proto could not stand up to.

Anyone here compare the Catalyst 100 to the LZ tour Graphite?

I though the LZ tour's lacked feel in that they were just kinda dead.....no feedback and and no pronounced kick that I could feel, compared to Recoil standard 95 or Steelfiber 110cw ( I've played both)

Hopefully the Catalyst is a bit more lively

I though the LZ tour's lacked feel in that they were just kinda dead.....no feedback and and no pronounced kick that I could feel, compared to Recoil standard 95 or Steelfiber 110cw ( I've played both)
Hopefully the Catalyst is a bit more lively

I have Catalyst 60 5.5 shafts in the Apex 19's and have played the LZ 5.5, LZ 95 5.5, and PXi 5.5 steel shafts over the past five years. I would say the Catalyst shafts are closer to the PXi shafts in feel. Smother feel than the LZ steel. Hope this gives you a little bit of idea although it is not a direct comparison of what you are asking.

Hmm, not familiar at all with the PXi. The one time I hit them when they first came out I remember they were better feeling than PX flighted, but flew a lot higher, That was abut 7 or 8 years ago though.
