300 Tour . Driver - what do I have?

Hello Wx'ers,

 

I have some questions for any Taylormade Authority/ Experts. I have had this TM 300 Tour . Driver for many many years. I have never hit it and had it on ebay along with some other clubs I wanted to part with as they just sit in storage in my basement. I have always been under the impression I had a normal 300 Tour " Holy Grail " driver. Through my ebay sale some questions came up about the differences in this club to some other 300 driver pics that were found online. I am sharing some pictures and details in hopes that someone with more knowledge of these clubs than me can shed some light on this one.

 

I bought this club years ago when this site first started. I have never used it and as I stated it has been in storage for all these years. This one does not have a loft stamped anywhere on the head. The only identifying stamps are the Taylormade on the sole and the Tour . below the sole plate. It has a Tour serial number that looks to be hand stamped.

 

Please take a look and share any opinions or insight. I have no idea on this club and I want to be accurate if I am selling it.

I can't help you with the club. I had a 320Ti and a 360Ti which was the same era, but I do not remember this model.

 

If you hold your camera in landscape orientation (sideways) when you snap the photo, the pics should upload properly.

What shaft is in it now ? Did you buy it on WRX BST ?

It has a Proforce V2 76g Stiff shaft. No , I did not buy it through the BST but through a Wrx member back in probably 2005-2006 time period.

That was the prototype to the 510. It was tour only/ prototype 300 tour which turns into the 510tp.

In addition to correct info posted by crsmith1234, the vast majority of those produced were at approximately 1.5* open face angle and 9* effective loft. The location of the . was supposed to help readily identify loft, although I don't recall the specific location for other lofts- just remember that location because owned one of those heads at one time.

Thanks Chris, that helps a lot ! After I received a few questions on eBay I tried to do some research, of course there isn't a lot on this particular club being a prototype and it is some what different than the 300 drivers we see all the time. I guessed it had to be a prototype or tour issue that was " rare ".

Thanks Mitchell, that was one of the main questions was the location of the Tour Stamp and the Dot. Then with no loft stamp it brought in some additional questions. I took it down as I wanted to know the true origin of this club. That is what I was told the loft was on this club 8.5*- 9 *.

 

Do you guys estimate the value the same as any 300 or would it rate higher being a tour issue / prototype?

At time I sold mine, values were about same as 500 deepface- not really sure what current market would fetch, hope that helps!

Thanks a lot Mitch. I was a little surprised , i had this club and a brand new 580 XD TP Tour Issue listed and neither club drew much interest. Both are brand new and have never been hit. I would have thought that both would have been bought quickly. I guess with all the new technology no-one wants the old classic clubs. I pulled both clubs down but may re-list or maybe I should put them up here. I may get better results.
