Second Course at Gamble?

I keep hearing rumblings of a second course being built at Gamble Sands but can't find any information. Does anyone have any details?

Nothing has begun yet, but a second course is in the works and the designer will again be David McKlay Kidd. I believe construction is slated to begin spring of 2019.

From what I remember when I was there last month, they have already staked some of the outer boundaries. They were pretty excited. The talk was another 18, possibly a short course, and more rooms to stay. I believe the course would be inland from the existing course and/or possible North.

The Gamble Sands twitter posted a picture last week saying that they have started moving dirt to build their Par 3 course... but that tweet has since been deleted. Like many others, I have heard rumblings over the past 2 years that a second 18 that was going to be built and to be called "The Cliffs" course but besides that I have not heard anything official.

I’ve heard about a 2nd course built around the current course and work up the hill. The par 3 course already has the tees and greens stakes off...I saw it when we were there in august...it’s on both sides of the road right before you get to the parking lot.

That would be funny if he broke ground on a compact 6000yd par 69 course at Gamble Sands before they got around to it in Wisconsin.

I saw a couple of articles online with Kidd quoted saying he's working on a second course at GS. Didn't say regulation, par 3, etc, but I'd love to get back to the area and the addition of a second course makes it all the more tempting (and likely).

 

Build it and they will come!
