Is golf your most expensive hobby?

Golf is by far my most expensive hobby, membership and constant buying of new clubs all adds up

 

But it gets me out the house and in the fresh air for hours at a time and it would be a lot cheaper if I joined a cheaper club & bought less golf clubs so swings and roundabouts!

I used to be into classic cars and that is much more expensive than golf!

Yes! If my Russian wife knew what I spent on golf this year, she'd demand a diamond of equal worth and then slit my throat while I'm sleeping.

My golf expense for two is reasonable compared to tracking fast german cars, boating and three vacations per year that include golf for two or three. However, I am not currently a member of a private club and don't currently own a large boat. When one or both of the latter change boating expense wins.

Golf is definitely my most expensive hobby. It’s a lot cheaper now that I’m working at a golf course lol. Hopefully it’ll get cheaper after I get my pga certification. But I doubt it...

Once you get certification and a commensurate position, golf becomess less expensive as everyone I know works a lot of hours. Good luck.. lol

For me I'd say it's a wash. The cost of golfing is just the greens fees/membership. I'm still gaming irons I bought well over 10 years ago. I'm not a club ho either. So it is close to my most expensive hobby but not by much if it is.

Paintball was my most expensive. Had to cut that out to play more golf

Green fees and balls. I'm not a club junky, it's the golfer not the golf ball or club. Don't get me wrong I literally just added a 410 crossover to my set, but normally I'll keep equipment YEARS. Drivers get cycled out every 5 years but that's really it.

 

So no 20 - 50 a round once a week and 30 a box a balls a month.......

 

Maybe when I get a membership it the cost will go up, but even buying one club a year it's only setting you back 100 - 500 a year depending on the club.

 

Heck I even wear tennis shoes to play......

I'm lazy but I can emphasize. I actually love to charter fish and that is anywhere from 500 - 750 a pop. But love reeling in massive pigs.

Ugh I wish. I’m a municipal cop in a decent sized town. I work a high crime beat and see a lot of less than upstanding citizens I’ve had interactions with while I’m off duty. I carry a firearm nearly every day.

 

Per usual, that spoiled out of control. I’ve owned optics that cost more than most golf bags and my main rifle has more in it than my current bag has. That being said, my golfing ain’t cheap either :#

It has been my most expensive for quite some time now. I used to do a lot of racing, both cars and motorcycles, so golf was kind of a drop in the bucket in comparison. Happy to be out of the racing world, there was no end in sight to continue to pay out to go faster, gives me more time for golf and I can enjoy taking a long ride/drive now in a fairly high horsepower car that I don't have to worry about fixing all that often.

I do a lot of hiking, but that is relatively cheap...a good pair of boots and a trekking pole. I also read a lot, but use the library 99% of the time, so yeah golf is my most expensive hobby.

I definitely spend more money than I care to calculate on golf equipment. I have learned over the last few years to sell the gear I don't use instead of trading it in. You get more value that way. I keep that money & use it to upgrade to newer equipment. Helps take the sting out of it.

I'm into watch collecting which has certainly cost me more than golf. I definitely love my watches more than my golf clubs too, the clubs would be much easier to replace.

Kitesurfing is a very expensive hobby. Gear and Trips can add up fast. Like every hobby, there are different price points. The real issue is longevity of the equipment. You could have an iron set that's 15-20 years old that would still perform great. A 15-20 year old kite is in the dumpster. I know its not apples to apples but the price certainly is.
