I can't say i've ever seen a driver described as "projecting masculinity"

But maybe we're onto something. I imagine Driver vs Driver season 3 the winner will be a 460CC P*nis shaped club. The sweet spot probably won't be all that big however

The Lamb is in luck.... the newest version of Pingʻs “one big mess” is red and black.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

but does it project?

Welcome to branding. Every product is marketed to attract a certain group.

But if you think think Titleist are targrting the Rickie Fowler types or ready to paint their driver orange or the usual ugly bland ping colours or keep switching colours like TM or Callaway then the jokes on you. They go with black a serious masculine colour and of course a dash of red. Those are their trademark colours not just clubs but their bags. Come to think of it who is the top dog who wears black and red ? And we also know top dog at the white house plays them too.

As for Ping branding it signifies, safe, boring and understated .

There you go guys only one clear macho brand in golf. Suck it up ping fans lmao!

Titleist screams stuffy and khacki pants just as much as Ping. You seen footjoy gear? LOL Sheesh man you got an ax to grind with Ping. as an 18 handicap you should probably grab a G400 MAX.

Calling Ping Drivers Ugly and you thought everyone would agree with you ?

  • Anser - I owned one and it was gorgeous but too low spin for my 103 MPH swing
  • G-25 - I still love this one

I own a G25 , G & G400 Max and I like the looks of each but understand how some don't like the Trurbulators and Dragonfly

G30 in royal blue (trim and shaft)) was one of the best-looking drivers every made by anyone. I also got great numbers on it, but I wasn't buying a driver that year.

Wouldn't the Titleist branding be safe, boring, and understated considering they stay with the same colors every year?

huh? i may ask has ping ever made a NOT good looking driver? how about titleist? they all look like pears - so ugly. i guess thats why there are hundreds of choices out there. weird topic.

You kidding right? Titleist drivers colours (Black and red) project masculinity and confidence. And their logo modern and classic. Ping is just one big mess on all accounts. Unsure of it's branding or colours.

And I thought Lamb played Cobra.

I thought the Anser of 2010-ish (can't recall the exact year it came out) was a great looking driver that also set up really well behind the ball.

I have never liked the look of ping irons until the last few years. They always had an odd shape to them but some of their newer stuff looks really sharp.

Anser was pretty solid as well as the i25 sans the racing stripes. I play the G400 so I’m biased but I think it’s a great looking driver.

Iconic logos and branding don’t need to change its what helps make them icons. One knows by color and logo what brand something is. They don’t need to change much to be relevant or appeal to people as people are drawn to that look/logo.
