Long time matrix user looking for new shaft

So Background: been playing the matrix altus for the last 10+ yrs. Stuck with it because I hit it pretty well. On a whim,sold my current gamer, hoping to try some new stuff out. I'll be going for a fitting, but curious to hear what you all might recommend I put on the list to try. Currently I am hitting the Cobra F8+ w/ the Tensei Blue x flex. Cut down half inch from the butt. I put heavier weights in, to keep the swing weight up. I can't hit this thing out of a paper bag. Low left bullets. No matter which of my 10+ swing feels I try, I can't hit two good shots in a row. SS is in the 109-111 range. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I don't believe it was. Is that my problem? I just told the guy I wanted it a little shorter (I'm 5'8). He never brought that up as an issue.

Don't know that tipping the shaft is necessary for the 6 grams you put back into the head (assuming 6 grams to get back to what it was). Did you hit the club before you cut it down and was it showing a different ball flight? Where are you hitting on the face? Also wondering about your lie angle as a possibility based on your height.

He never mentioned how much he added to the head. Cutting 1/2 inch would need about 6g, but maybe he actually added more? If so it could be noticeably softer. You are right tho, 1/2 inch should make relatively no difference at all in the grand scheme of things.

Cutting 1/2 inch would also help the lie angle issue, not hurt it. Regardless, it could just be the shaft fit just isn't right for you and the Altus was a better fit.

I ended up adding 9g, based on the weights I had. Sounds like too much. I just went all in on the adjustments from the get go, without hitting it first..So i guess if it's just not a great fit (cut/uncut) I was hoping to find something newer, that might offer similar profile as the Altus? I need to demo what's out there, just trying to narrow the search down a little.

Sounds like you may be not loading the shaft, this can cause low snipers

weight is about the same, torque for altus 3.0, Tensei 3.9 That's all I can really find. Altus was high launch compared to mid with the Tensei. I don't know much else about bend profiles. Sounds like I'd be better off with the Tensei Red, but I'd worry about too much spin.

I am aware that he never said how much weight he added which is why I made a guess of 6 grams as a starting point.

Also I never said that the lie angle change from cutting down would hurt him. I was merely thinking that even after cutting 1/2 inch, that club still plays at 45 inches which could still be too long and too upright for his height.

Again without some more info on impact position, just making educated guesses.

My impact seems to be out on the toe more. I think I might just take a 1/2" off the tip and see how that is. I usually play a driver around 44 1/2-1/4. Might as well mess around with it at this point, since I can't return it.
