Moved to Port St. Lucie...

Man, I kinda miss Lakeland! 40 minute drive to Orlando, and I could pick from any course I wanted in the summer on the cheap!! Now I gotta drive 1.5 hrs at LEAST to Orlando, and public golf isn't too promising down here from what I've seen.

I live 5-10 minutes from the St. James Golf course in St. Lucie.

Anyone close by with some local knowledge??

St. Lucie Trail and the PGA GC courses should keep you happy through the summer.

PGA Village is excellent. I played Martin Downs a few years ago and it was pretty decent.

PGA Village courses are usually in good shape and a great value especially in the summer. Although they’re for sale which isn’t the best of signs. Played the Ryder and it was in good shape, some detail work to be done but good shape overall.

Interesting. When my pro made a call about me possibly playing there while I was down, they were less than interested in that.

So I should update. Have started a dialogue with someone at Santa Lucia(likely based on this thread). I'm going to go with the person my pro spoke to was just having a bad day. Because the person I am speaking with is certainly approachable and willing to engage in a dialogue. Which is to their credit, because I could understand them not wanting any part of this discussion.

Thx for all the comments! Played a few courses, but absolutely can't commit to a membership anywhere, no time due to work! I'll keep posting back as I learn the area a bit better!

I was able to play a round at Santa Lucia River Club. Very helpful staff. Some good people over there. Shout out to the membership director. Great guy.

The golf course is a tough design. Long and tight(although you can miss a bit). Nothing stupid tricky, just tough golf. You will learn to keep your ball in play, and play around greens. It's a Florida course but looks like it would be a good value if you can play enough. My only gripe is the fact you need to go through a security gate, but that is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

You're better there than I am in Melbourne. We did a trip last year to Tiger's restaurant in Jupiter. I believe we played Port St. Lucie trail which was ok. I much more enjoyed our other round at Champions Club at Summerfield.
