JPX 919 Forged badge removal

Removing them might affect swingweight.

 

And... why would you want to remove the badges? A major drag on value of clubs if you trade them in later.

What's In The Bag (As of June 2024, post-MAX change + new putter)

I don't build clubs. Just help people get what they want.

Take all the badges off your car/truck, replace with lead tape, and see which style looks cheaper. :swoon:

The main concern was grass and dirt getting behind the badge. I'm glad everyone has an opinion but I was really just wondering if the badge really made a difference in performance.

 

To be serious for just a second, some of the badges do provide some level of sound and vibration deadening in addition to having a bit of weight to them.

 

I can’t say I’ve looked at the Mizzys up close to know if that’s there job or they are just decorative badging. Look up their web site and find some articles on them To see if they are supposed to actually do anything. Anything else is just speculation.

I have pulled the badges from a few different Mizuno irons; MX-19, MX-950, MP-H4, and MP-25. In every case, the heads looked better and played better after the badge removal. So ignore the doubters, however I haven't seen anyone pull badges out of any of the 919 models yet so YMMV on that one.

Someone has to go first...

Has anyone pulled the trigger on this? I'm close to just trying it out since my my clubs are already heavy as can be.

Sometimes I look at my 919 Forged and think they're pretty sexy - and other times they look not sexy.

I don't see the back of them at address, but I do see them a lot bouncing around in my bag. Anybody?

Mizuno tunes their irons with the help of an anechoic camber to get the sound just right. IMO, taking off the badges negatively affects the sound and also slightly alters the swing weight.

I wish people would just answer the ops question and not pontificate with all their supreme wisdom. 

Perhaps I misread ops post, but it sounded to me like he was asking if anyone actually has removed badges from the jpx919 and if so how it felt and what is sounded like. So if you have not done it why are you posting opinions or worse posting about why you prefer other clubs?  He did not ask for opinions of wither he should or should not, or even what you might think would happen. He asked if you have taken them off and if so how did they look or feel.  Sorry but I get so annoyed when a thread fills up with opinions that do not answer the ops original question. That only leads to wasted time reading posts that do not adress the issue at hand.  I for one would be interested to hear from people who actually have removed the badges from their mizuno jpx irons what their impression was about looks sound and performance. Not interested in why you chose a different club or what you think might be the case. Or even your expert testimony about the   purpose of the badges. Just answer the question if you have done the deed.  

Damn, now I wasted time reading and writing this post.  Sorry.
