I know someone had some kangaroos as a kid....admit it. Velcro is awesome. Have my first pair of BOA now, and I bought a spare pair. Forge fiber BOA. It's on the side, locks pretty tight, comfy. So far.

Well having a kid who’s 10 made me remember how easy Velcro was , and it just made me wonder. Isn’t boa a dressed up adult version of Velcro straps ? lol They could do it in a stylish way I’m sure.

Believe it or not, I used to have a pair of Greg Norman "Pumps" from back in the day when he was sponsored by Reebok. They were actually nice tour level shoes that top quality leather uppers just like the Foot Joy Classics, just a more athletic sole.

This style is great. I put them on just about all of my golf or running shoes. It allows the tightness to be controlled very easily...if I want to leave them loose and create a "slip-on" type of fit, I can. If I need to cinch them down for golf or running, I can. Much better than traditional laces.

This style...not so much. Tried these on one pair of shoes...didn't like them. No control like above. Just one "fit", and it's fairly loose. Foot will almost twist right out of them running trails or in a golf swing.

I tried them, but the thing that didn't work for me was that they don't allow for differences in tightness over different areas of the foot like traditional laces do. I like to leave my forefoot relatively looser, but a bit tighter towards the knot end. The friction in regular laces lets me do that and maintain that sort of fit even after walking/running for miles.

You do have to do some manual manipulating of the BOA laces if you want a specific fit (which I admit defeats some of the purpose), but I generally put them on and tighten, then if they are feeling loose after a few holes will turn the knob a few times. Hey, if you aren't a fan I completely understand. I am, and as this thread has proven, many more are, so why the lack of options?

I disagree. I've had 2 pairs of Adidas BOAs that both tightened on the tongue, and they were/are the most comfortable and easiest adjusting shoes I've ever owned. I guess it all depends on the shape of your foot, the position of the "BOA" adjustment knob. I'm guessing if I have wide feet with big toes, and you have narrow feet with skinny toes, we will both have different results with BOA or not, or whether it's better on the side/tongue/heel?

I believe it's a brand name. I've seen numerous "brands" of shoes/boots/boards advertised as having this particular lacing system. I think they have a great idea and pretty solid patent, but could be wrong?

That's all well and good, but that's nothing more than tying a shoe tighter. Having it in the back pulls your heel into the heel and keeps it more stable and secure. That's not something that can be done with laces. What you're feeling/explaining, is/can be, done with laces.

I think the BOA system's comfort and effectiveness vary based upon your foot shape. I have yet to find a pair that feel comfortable for me. But I do like the concept.

So is "pulling your heel into the heel". The main thing is finding a shoe built to fit your foot. If you need "Heel Boas" to pull your heel into the heel of the shoe, those shoes don't fit you very well in the first place. I could make the same argument as you but switch it to "pulling the arch into the arch" with the tongue-based Boas.

The Adidas ones I have fit my feet very well, and I don't need any help with pulling my shoe tighter to my heel. I just appreciate that I can put them on, and then easily adjust throughout the day as my feet change size. I'm sure you are aware that the longer you are on your feet, the more they change? Tie your shoes first thing in the morning, and I bet you are re-tieing by noon with laces.

Yep, doesn't matter the lacing system, if the build of the shoe doesn't fit your foot no lacing will make up for it. I'm assuming Frankensteins Monster has a foot that fits FootJoys, but not so well Adidas/Nike? I have a wide foot, and can't get a FootJoy shoe to fit comfortable no matter what size/width/style I try, BOA or not.

To each their own, what feels comfortable on my foot certainly should be a blueprint for "the most comfortable shoe ever".
