The end of our Junior golf, but what a way to go out!

Today marked the end of my daughter’s Junior Golf Career. After eight years of local, national and international tournament play; she concluded her high school season.

It has been an experience I will truly treasure. As the oft repeated saying goes, it went by too quickly. Please enjoy the time with your kiddos! I remember the beginning and needing a small notebook to tally the number of strokes so I wouldn’t miss any. I remember her first par, birdie and eagle, which course and what club she used. I’ll never forget the first tournament we went to, unprepared for the unexpected storm that came in and how much I spent in the pro shop to find jackets for us to wear. The practice sessions in January, in a heated bay, with snow falling all around.

The best memory of all is watching her win the State tournament shooting a 65-66 and establishing a new state record. My eyes did get a little misty watching her play at her absolute best and seeing the joy she exuded.

It’s not always easy to enjoy the moment, but please try. As others have said before, it ends way too soon.

Congratulations to your daughter, yourself and your family. I learned with my son, accomplishments at this level are a family affair. Although the accolades are very deserved by the individual anyone with a child participating at anything at a high level understands the sacrifice and hard work involved, but the sacrifices and efforts made by family members in support of the individual are also deserving of applause, so well done to all of you.

Thank you for reminding us that these moments are precious. It's easy to get caught up in the moment and lose perspective, even now that my son is grown and I have another opportunity with 3 young daughters I have to remind myself to cherish this time with them. Thank you again and I wish you all well as your daughter embarks on her next journey, may it be full of God's blessings.
