Who has had experience with these clubs? These irons hold a special place in my heart..they are the irons I first started playing with seriously...

 

For the budget minded golfer looking a great set of irons you can't beat these...

Wow, memories. I had a set of 845fs silverscots for five years while I was learning how to play golf. The only reason I don' t still have them is the fact that I simply wore them out and found a good deal on some Ben Hogans. I really wish I would have gave the forged 845's a chance though, they can be had for a song on ebay with rifle shafts.

Probably the best irons ever along with the PING eye 2 +.

 

I have had several sets over the years and have a set in the garage.

 

The new PING i10 remind me somewhat of the old 845's!!

I still have a set of 845s in the basement in pretty good shape. Took them out to compare to the 845cm that I have...and they can STILL hit a very nice ball. Surprisingly soft for a cast club, I actually thought about putting them back in play.

 

Tommy Armour 845's are classics.

Those were the 2nd set of clubs I ever owned. I basically learned to play the game with those clubs.

I think an old GF sold them at a garage sale, after we broke up........now that I think about it, I miss the clubs more than I missed her.

Still have a full set of the very rare BeCu 845 Golden Scot irons 1-PW, W3, and SW all with G. Loomis Tour shafts.

 

If they didn't have the progressive offset, I'd consider putting them back into play. The 845s are one of the great designs of all time.

Played them for 9 seasons, all through high school, college, and beyond....I've probably owned 10-12 sets of irons since lol.....One of the best sets of all time.

Learned to play on those (I had the oversize) great clubs for a player of any skill level.

Still have mine in 8-9/10 condition, I'll never get rid of them!

After trying every iron out there I recently made the decision to put my set of original PAT PEND model 845s back in the bag. Like alot in this thread these were the first "real" clubs I ever played.

 

Just earlier today I found a set of PAT PEND 845s on Ebay that had been retumbled/refurbished and was lucky enought to get them, I can't wait.

Just a great, great set of irons. I played them from 1991-2002. My set is now played by my nephew. I told him if he ever doesn't want to play them anymore they need to come back to me.

The 845s are true classics..I know of a couple of guys I've played with who still play with their well worn sets and refuse to go for the new technology..

 

In a way I miss my set and should have hung on to them...they brought me many years of great golf!

The 845's are quite possibly the best of the Ping Eye2(+) bandwagoneers.

 

Better than the Lynx Parallyx, and played by many, many PGA Tour pros back in the day.

I remember them well.

 

I had a stint where I tinkered with some cavity backs as a teenager. Eye 2s and 845s were on the trial rota. I went with Pings in the end, but I did like the Tommy Armours.

 

As with the Eye 2s, I still see people hitting them now. A chap at my club has got some G Loomis shafted ones (c. 1991) that I think will be buried with him. The damn things are 15 or more years old and look better wear-wise than my 3 month old gamers.

 

I remember when they came out; no-one knew the brand in the UK, but Love and Couples pitched up at Troon with a set and everyone had a look to see what they were and they were an instant classic. 'A leaner and slightly prettier Ping' I once heard them described as...

 

I never much cared for the little loft thing on the toe though. :good:

I played 845's for a few years during college. I was only playing about 5-6 times a year then, but they were a great club for the cost. I did play them my first year out of college when I had money and joined a country club and started taking golf much more seriously. They were a great club. My friend is borrowing them at the moment. He wants to buy them, but we'll have to see what happens.

 

I ended up replacing my 845 Silver Scotts with G5's early this season.
