13 degree hybrid?

any companies have something like this around? would be a nice experiment to try a 13 degree hybrid to replace a 15 degree 3 wood and see what happens.

KZG has a 14 degree hybrid. My clubmaker recommended that I NOT get this because that loft is almost unhittable from any OEM if you find them.

I've got a 14* halo that I loved. Just don't have room in the bag for it. Great off the tee and good off the fairway for long flat shots. Not enough height on shots where I needed to place shots. Ended up replacing it and another hybrid with my 4-wood.

do you mean you have trouble getting it airborn? i dont see why a hybrid would be any harder to get airborn than a fairwood wood or the some loft. i would think the shorter shaft of the hybrid would give a steeper descent into the ball and thus easier to get airborn.

 

i guess there are some hybrids you could even bend from like 14 or 15 down to 13 or so right?

I have a PING 15* G10 Pro Launch Red. It has 3wd distance but not the high flight. It will move both ways and feels really nice; especially on g-spot hits. I thought it would replace my 3wd and fill the gap from 2i to driver. The distance fits great but the low flight is a deal killer for me. I wish I could use it because I like to hit it.

I've trown out the three wood and replaced it with an Sonartec MD 15 degree in my experience it just as long or even longer then most three wood's Í've used, and it's a dead centre fairway finder.

Nickent has 14* hybrids, and Sonartec has some tour issue MD's at 13*. I believe that Adams has some tour issues down in the 13-15 range.

The best hybrid near that loft is the Hogan CFT ti 0 hybrid. The loft on that hybrid is 14 degrees and it comes with an NVS 85 or Cross Fire steel shaft. You can purchase one in very good shape from callawaygolfpreowned.com for under $75.

I've hit alot of the 14 and 15 degree hybrids and in my opinion they are very hard to elevate compared to fairway woods in similar lofts. All else being equal, fairway woods will hit the ball higher than hybrids in similar lofts due to the ability to shift the CG further back in a fairway wood. But I guess if you have significant clubhead speed and are a highball hitter it wouldn't be too big of a deal. Bubba Watson plays a 13 or 14 degree hybrid that he hits high and long.....like over 300yds. For me, I just don't have enough clubhead speed to make a low lofted hybrid work.

beat me to it. It is kinda like the comparison between deep and shallow face drivers.........like a new LD F Speed and the Speed Pro D. There is just more behind the ball. Think of the ball flight difference between a 13-15 degree 0 iron and a 3 wood. I hybrid would just fall in the middle. Remember hybrids were designed to replace irons.

Purchased a Sonartec MD 15 that was adjusted to 13 degree by Sonartec with IROD stiff shaft. I tend to hit ball high and play at older country club where no real need for 3 wood except one hole. In my hands, hit it about 220-230, with similar launch in flight in terms of altitude as 906f2 13 degree Prolite stiff (goes about 240-250). Also use Cobra 14 degree DWS Pro with DG S300 as long hybrid, similar to the MD 13 but a little shorter around 220. My experience has been that the Sonartec MD is one of the lower launching hybrids. I've tried most of them that go low.

Bridgestone offers a 15 degree J33 utility wood. Not too shabby.

I have a 13* Nickent with a Project X in it. That stays low and long. I use it in place of my 3 wood when I go play a course when I know it will be very windy. I can hit it 20 feet off the ground if I want. It has really come in handy a few times.

I have a 14* TM Rescue TP. It is sweet off of the fairway. I would recommend it as a 3 wood replacement.
