What set of GI clubs have the largest gaps between lofts?

I follow the minimalist golf thread on here and like the stress free approach of fewer clubs in the bag but find the gaps between having every other club in the bag to large (ie p,8,6,4 iron with around 8* loft differences).

Is there a set with more traditional lofts in the wedge end but much stronger lofts in the long irons so that I could carry 1 or 2 less clubs but with a slightly larger gapping most sets?

I hit a rogue x today and realised the 7 iron was the same loft as my 6 iron, but then I realised that the PW in that set was 41. id like a PW of around 44 and then 6* gaps or so up to about 30/28*.

I'm guessing what i'm asking for is not available but I thought id give it a try anyway.

I have a Ping G Cross over I could use as my 25. Cheers.

I've been thinking about this a decent amount, and my concern would be how low lofted the bottom of the bag ended up... every degree you add compounds itself as you move further away from the top of the bag... Starting with a 40 degree 9 iron... 4 degrees is 20 total degrees between 9 and 4 iron (20 degree 4 iron) and 5 degrees is 25 total degrees (15 degree 4 iron)... With the 5 degree gaps, you'd probably want to stop at the 5 iron, which is now lofted like a four but with a 5 iron shaft... I don't know, it gets weird for me at this point. I am not a club buider!

Honestly, I think if you want a wider gap in your irons, getting custom fit and built clubs would be the way to go.

In those situations, I'd drop the 5 iron and then I can carry an extra wedge. As a 90mph swing speed it my short game that need more precision than my long game. As such I'd carry a 64 a 58 54 and 50 wedge as that's were I'm most likely to gain and lose most of my shots or just carry less clubs since I don't have the speed to get distance with low lofted clubs. Or just a 58 and 52 if I'm travelling light

You can definitely make it work, I just don't think off the rack sets are necessarily designed to do what you are looking for.

I'm willing to bet if you find a Wishon fitter, they could build a fairly interesting set up for you.

I think it make s a ton of sense to have gaps increase as the length of the club increases, I just have no idea how to build that into a playable set.

When rejuvenated Hogan line first appeared 2016, the company came up with an innovative idea: Early PTx and and Ft. Worth iron models offered lofts in one-degree increments from 20° up to 48° (?) - you could select any mix you wanted.

At an expo demo day, I told the Hogan rep I was considering selecting 22°, 27° and 32° at the long end of the bag, and then picking up four-degree loft increments up through the wedges. The Hogan guy said this would be an excellent way to squeeze out a club at the long end, and make sure I had tight gaps in the scoring clubs.

Unfortunately, Hogan decided to go with a set mix of 4° loft increments, starting at 22° for their longest standard numbered iron. Pick and choose no longer available.

Lofting Options in several Ping irons might be your best bet. If you took the i210 irons [https://ping.com/clubs/irons/i210](https://ping.com/clubs/irons/i210 "https://ping.com/clubs/irons/i210") and worked your way among the Standard, Retro and Power lofts, you could get something like this:

I've thought about this but wonder if the offset progression is going to be funny?

I wasn't aware minimalists worried about things like offset and bounce. Don't minimalists ask for rough whiskey in a dirty glass? ;)

How's this for a set up?

G400 - u to 8i - blue dot - std length

G400 - 7i 30.5 - black dot - +1/4

G700 - 6i 26* - black dot - +1/2

Then on to my 22* hybrid

That frees up the space I want for my extra wedge.

Not quite suitable for my minimalist set up, but great for my main bag.

Hoping to go hit some clubs at AG later

Not necessarily to your question, but the 716 Ap1 gaps are on the strange side, and have left me considering new irons.

4i is 22*, which is surely a little strong.

PW is 43*, which is way strong, and necessitates a "gap gap" wedge at 47 that the set calls a "W," to differentiate it from the "W52," which is the 52* gap wedge.

It pisses me off bc if I'm playing 14 clubs, I've got to drop either a lob wedge (don't want to drop the 56), or one of either a 3w or 3h.

So ... don't consider the ap1. It's the opposite of what you want. Very bunched up on the short end.
