Scottsdale Bachelor Party - Cheaper Courses

Was thinking of having my bachelor party in Scottsdale in March of next year for spring training/golf.

There will probably around 12 of us going, half of us golf together every saturday, and the other half don't really golf much at all but still enjoy it. Those of us that golf regularly are willing to spend the trip at lower end courses, and forgo the Troon's, We Ko Pa's, and Talking Sticks of the world, so the others aren't spending $200-300 on a round they could care less about.

During that time of year, are there any courses there that we could get on for $100 or less on a Friday and Saturday? With it being summertime right now, the rates are very low for some courses (Silverado, Starfire, Stone Creek, etc.) so I'm not sure how those rates will look when all the snowbirds and baseball fans are in town. Are there any affordable courses in the area that you guys would suggest?

There are dozens of "value" courses that will meet your criteria of under $100, or even under $75, during prime time on a weekend in March, if you are willing to drive up to 45 minutes or so depending where in Scottsdale you are staying. Especially if you head out to the West Valley/Sun City area. If you aren't willing to drive that much, the three courses you mentioned should all be under $100 in March. Cave Creek municipal is not far away and probably $50 with a cart for a non-resident in March. Many people on this forum will feel these "value" courses are beneath them, but if you just want to play golf on green grass in nice weather with your buddies at an affordable price, they will do just fine.

Very cool, thank you. That helps us out a bunch in planning. We are staying in an AirBnB in Old Town, and driving a few miles shouldn't be an issue so this is all great info. Green grass and beers are all we need, so I'm glad I wont have to look elsewhere to do the weekend.

Maybe look to the south if you are staying in Old Town...places like Ken McDonald and Dobson Ranch are two muni courses that are well under $75 in peak season and usually in decent condition (comparable to or better than your average muni elsewhere in the country), probably less than 30 minutes away from Old Town unless in rush hour. The Sun City/West Valley stuff is probably more convenient if you were staying in N. Scottsdale.

Papago's non-resident weekend morning rack rate for non-residents was over $100 this past winter. Not really the value OP is seeking IMO. Aguila is an awesome value but you have to pounce on the weekend tee times as soon as the booking window opens in the winter.

Weekend times in March can be a bit tough to get. Especially for 3 groups.

Id also look into The Raven.

As someone mentioned, look at Mountain Shadows. Its a 18 hole par 3 course. Solid conditions, fun layout, and gorgeous setting. Really cool, laid back place with the perfect vibe for a bunch of dudes more focused on hanging out, relaxing, drinking, than they are on serious golf.

Mountain Shadows is a fun, casual, yet nice short course. One of my wife's favorites. I think that would be a great course for a bachelor party. Will be making a trip in a couple of weeks for my wifes birthday to play that course (and still need to figure out another one to hit).
