We've had some WITB of minimalists here and ther, but let's try and get them all together in one spot.

 

Show off your bags and tells us what in them ... 9 clubs or less only, please.

This is one of my favorite topics of threads. Sorry in advance for the lackluster pictures, but they will suffice. Here we go.

 

My 7 club setup goes as follows: D, 5i, 7i, 9i, GW, SW, P

 

Driver: Taylormade SLDR, a neighbor gave it to me. Definitely not my specs, but I hit it hard and seem to control it fine. It works for me.

Irons: Srixon z765, using 5, 7, 9. Love these clubs, not getting rid of them anytime soon.

Wedges: GW: Wilson harmonized 50*. Crappy club, but gets the job done for $19.99 lol. I'll probably invest in a nicer gap wedge sometime in the near future. SW: Titleist SM6 56*. my local shop gave me a good deal at $75 new.

Putter: Retro Ping Kushin I took from my dad because I like the feel of it so much.

Bag: Old Sun Mountain Sunday bag I found at my High School's lost and found. Works beautifully.

 

Its pretty ragtag, but I've played my best golf just using this setup. I shot a 37 the other day with it, and I like the package so much its been my daily bag whenever I go out. I seem to not only enjoy the game more but go lower. Anyway, that's my minimalist bag.

I bought a Sun Mountain Sunday bag like yours in 2012, loved it. Became so tattered by 2018, I pitched it. Bought it new for $50, so it didn't owe me anything. During that time, I bought 2 Jones from the company website. One, paid full price, the other was a grab bag thing the company ran a couple years ago. Got a nice one for $60. Jones bags wear like iron.

Grab bag sale is worth the wait.

My full bag which I don’t normally play it often. Usually I’d take a 3W and PW out and only play the rest (or take 4, 6, 8 and PW). I bent 58 to 56 I think. Bag is Vessel Sunday 2.0 single strap perfect for carrying.

Some good ones here, surprised to see none of you gave any of the posts a like or a reply - kinda funny to me anyways.

 

I'll post a pic at some point of my current set up. 8 clubs, but 3 wedges and 2 putters (one lofted).

 

Irons:

3i (delofted a few extra degrees), 6i, 9i - apex 19

 

Wedges:

50 (A) - apex 19

60 - Cleveland rtx 588 satin 2013 60 -dynamic gold

72 bombtech

 

Putter - scotty

Putter 2 (lofted) - ben sayers

 

I use a push cart/trolley, I hate carrying (I hate pulling trolley too) and I rarely use a cart/buggy.

Here's what I've mostly played this year.... I go with one aim, shoot 78 or below and I'm happy. Its my challenge each weekend/midweek and its fun!

Srixon driver, ram 7 wood, ping eye2 4,6,8,pw. Ping karsten iii sw and taylormade rossa putter. Making 8. Getting banged up now but they've served me well.... Really could do with a new bag, it's looking tired these days... Maybe Xmas present to myself for 2020

Really enjoy this thread, I just started playing with an 8 club set up and it’s been extremely refreshing.

Waiting for irons and a new Sunday bag will update when they arrive.

Do you play those sets 100% of the time or just when traveling etc. ?

Personally I liked all of them---- I also play some minimalist golf in my fall Sunday afternoon walking rounds----- The thing with me that also makes it fun is I have so much stuff especially classic stuff I switch around a lot but always carry some sort of persimmon driver and 1 iron. One of the ways I get to play a lot of my classic stuff.

LOL Over the years I have seen some guys that can hit a variety of different shots with those chippers. And I would be willing to bet he is one of those

I only use it near the green currently. Going out today with 3w, 5i, wedge and putter in the bag. I'll post a pic later and my score. I'm playing with a split grip today so ball could go anywhere. I play off 15 with a proper golf grip, probably more like 30 with a split grip. Ok I promised a score. I was about right. Played to a 30 handicap. I made a birdie at least.

All the time for me, hate pushing or pulling a trolley..... Hate packing up more after my round. Just go to my locker and store my bag.... Sometimes I change if the weather is bad, just more enjoyable for me

To be honest I think using a heavy push trolley burnt me out. Through June-end of July I played about 30 rounds of golf using a push trolley that's base weight is 8kg before the clubs even go on, played 14 clubs and carried water bottles. Four wheels. It's good because it's like you have a caddy, you can put stuff in compartments. But it's cumbersome and tiresome. I won't be using it again this year and will only use 3 or 4 clubs per round from now on with a lightweight bag with tees and a few balls in. I have your thinking now.

I'm thinking of having a tweak... Have a brilliant half set of ping karsten iii irons which I enjoy hitting. Someone has offered me good money for my full set eye 2s.... Going a get myself a new lite carry bag. Need a stand I think as the weather gets awful in the uk and I get caught out.... I'll post some pictures soon when I'm sorted

Finally put one of these together to keep at the office.

I wish I had a decent camera so I could show my current minimalist setup. I play with 5 clubs 99% of the time. I have a 19* hybrid, 4 ironwood, 8i, a 50* wedge and a putter in a srixon pencil bag. Played most of my best rounds with 5 or 6 clubs. Its crazy but when I hit shots that require imagination I seem to do better than when I'm just hitting stock shots.
