Yeah, that’s my bad folks.

Really hard week at work, had a couple drinks and went on a tangent.

read after the “boomer” post and thought it was best to take it down.

Took my frustration out on an innocent post.

My fault fellas (and gals).

Thank you!

Back on topic (after me train-wrecking the thread).

I just noticed that Vice golf will allow you to order specific irons?

The blades look great and they have a good price point.

I’ve been arguing with myself about the and I’m gonna pull the trigger on it (a lot of customization).

Anyone with any experience with Vice Golf irons?

Recommend looking at golfworks Maltby TS4, TS3, TS1IM, etc if interested in custom single irons.

Significant bag overhaul going into 2025...

Starting at the top, changed out the driver. Had a stiff flex shorter driver now changed to a regular flex XXIO X black with a 47g shaft at 45.75", getting more distance (not been on a monitor but assume faster club head speed) and so much easier to swing.

Next change was forced upon me... old 4w caught a rock in some rough and damaged the face. Managed to pick up an old Cleveland Classic XL 5 wood for cheap off eBay, absolutely love it so far deep face so helps my miss which is high on the face and the shaft length is long for a 5 wood and also light at 55 grams so not losing any distance compared to the old 4 wood. Also one of the best stock head covers.

Trusty Wilson FG Tour 4 hybrid still in the bag but now set at 22° up from 21° to better fit the gap between the new wood and irons.

New set of irons 6,8,PW the XXIO forged X. Gone to something a bit more forgiving with a lighter shaft. 92 gram stiff Nippon 920gh. Realised the old cobra irons whilst beautiful where not giving the help I needed and the heavier shafts were beating my body now I have been practicing into a net a bit more, realised especially when tired that due to the weight my back swing would get too long and I was straining my body on the follow through, hoping that the new irons help with this - not been hit yet so don't know 😂

To try and avoid the jump in weight to the wedges picked up a Japanese specification Taylormade Hi Toe 50° with a stiff Nippon 950gh Neo shaft (98 grams). This should bridge the gap nicely to my final wedge which hasn't been changed the Hi Toe 58° this time with a regular flex (don't really use for full swings) KBS Hi Rev 2.0 shaft at 115 grams.

Final change has been some DIY on the Cleveland milled putter. Added a sightline to the top line that matches the markings in the flange. For me this does two things, one it lets me see if my eyes are aligned correctly as if the putter is too upright or flat the lines don't align, secondly the line on the top line helps as I am left eye dominant and the line is more below my dominant eye helping me aim a bit better.

Whilst I would like to think I can play the season without any bag changes I'm sure something will tempt me 😂

The PGA players in other threads say they suck without ever hitting them so 🤷‍♂️

Nice bag ... probably doesn't matter, but I'm not sure if your DIY alt to your putter (which I really like) is legal or not. Rules about tape and non-permanent seem to pop up in my mind.

This is just for testing. Once I have decided on the exact alignment I want I will paint it on. Also going to try just a thin black top line as not sure running the wide black with the white is working how I want visually. Don't want to ruin the putter though whilst in the test phase. Not that it would matter anyway as 80% of my rounds are solo and the other 20% are just fun rounds, no competition play.

Not sure anyone is interested... Ended up removing the black and white as felt it was taking my focus away from the centre of the face and impacting the back of the ball. Instead have decided to paint on a single black line, this seems to have the same benefits I was finding previously but focuses me in more on hitting the centre of the face. Hopefully leads to some more decent putts this year than last...

I liked the black electrical tape on the putter's topline  ... and admire the DIY element ... but would gladly game either version.

thanks for sharing @sxrxg

My recent purchase of a nearly new Ping G driver has made me realize that golf club forgiveness is a real thing and something I should probably capitalize on lol. Right now I hover around a 12ish handicap and I’m wanting to bring it down so I think I’m going to start swapping my clubs for more forgiving options. I have always played smallish irons, but I just purchased a Maltby STI2 5 iron to try out in place of my 4 iron. If it  works well I plan on swapping out my other irons also.

Played terrible golf for the first round of the year... Clubs felt nice though and played a stunning course whilst visiting a site for work. Can't complain getting to play midweek in winter with the sun shining. Also the new bag was lovely... If anyone UK based is after a bargain these can currently be had for £39.99. Just search for Eleven Sunday bag.

Aaaaaah…my favorite topic!

Will post pictures asap. I’ve been playing minimal setup as a standard for years now.

Driver: Titleist 917 D2 9.5* Fujikura Speeder Pro TS 74 X flex

Hybrid: Titleist 913 H 17* stock Diamana Blue 72 stiff flex

Irons: Titleist AP3 718 6-8-PW stock DG AMT Black S300

Wedge: Titleist Vokey SM10 56-8 S stock steel shaft

Putter: Scotty Cameron Red X 3 Charcoal 35 inches

I was used to bag the 4 iron but not being a good iron player, I ditched it some months ago and was playing this way. Though, my performance with the 6 iron has never been that good either and I then needed to really bridge the gap between the 8 iron and the driver, still keeping the 6 in the bag. So I found dirt cheap an old 913 H but could not really play it good. Until I decided to cut it myself with a wood saw by something like 4 inches or so, the size is now close to a 5 iron. And I hit real bombs (well…for my little average standard).

From the very beginning, I had done the same with my driver that is not longer than 43 inches at best.

I bag all this in an old wrecked Score Industries (I think model is Sunday Bag PT711 in black) small bag that I love and can’t get rid of, while having a brand new one somewhere at home to stack the rest of the iron set and a 50* wedge.

I have almost the exact same 7 club set-up as you do ... I was looking at that same bag, but it's advertised as working for "3-6" clubs ... do you have any problems with putting 7 in there?

NVM ... just noticed you have the XL ...

Yes it is the XL - it's supposed to hold up to 10 but I think that would be really pushing it.  7 fit in there pretty well

Bag was 50% off on linksoul, was $90 + $10 for shipping
