A 3 night trip to Sand Valley this weekend has shrunk to a day trip to play 36. It would have been a great trip but hopefully great courses make up for the long time behind the wheel.

This is not the new norm for golf. This is to get us through the month of May and with the continual improvement in the number of people testing negative, we should very well be out of this and back to regular golf early to mid June.

I was up there Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Conditions were indeed good. Greens rolling nice. Sometimes the pins were hard to see as they are just using a tiny little marking flag inside the raised cup. We tee off very early so walking off the course at 9:30 and seeing essentially a full parking lot was a little surprising. Looks like WSGA is now allowing carts for everyone as long as it is one to a cart. Not sure a place like Brighton Dale has enough carts to go around if everyone was to get one. As a walker it doesn't matter one way or the other to me.

Have walked it a few times. The two long hikes between 7 and 8 and then coming back on the last 9 is a pain but it can be done.

VNutz, 2 other guys and me walked them both on Saturday. No longer any concerns about a grabber in the near future. Was not aware that they DO NOT let people walk the course normally. Far and away the most difficult course I've ever pushed a cart around for 18 holes. VNutz said it was easier carrying but the rumor is he didn't get off the couch until Monday evening.

Yeah I didn't understand why they didn't have real flags in? Couldn't see a bunch of them which was annoying. Going to Glen Erin this weekend. Looking forward to it.

we are at Sunset Valley this year. we were able to obtain the first slot for the next three weeks.

when I checked the site it appeared they booked every slot all day for the next two Saturday and Sundays, plus Friday the 8th is also pretty much done.

It is impossible for me to rank my favorite courses, but Erin Hills always comes to mind. It just felt massive and like a "Us Open Course." Last time I was there I had the last tee time and played in a twosome, it wasn't busy in front of us and was a great pace, turned into a great evening with the sun setting on 18. Very jealous, enjoy it!

Yeah they are allowing push carts until the end of May. They purchased 125 for guests, or you can bring your own. You need to take a forecaddie, but that's fine. We'll need help finding our balls! ? I've not been there yet, but I told my dad if he lost 45 lbs, I'd take him and he's gone and done it in less than 4 months. Incredible on his part. Excited for us to get up there and play.

To walk Big Run or not to walk Big Run..... The struggle might be real pretty soon.

... The Mrs and I walked Big Run. If ever there were a course to represent a Good Walk Spoiled, Big Run is it. I will be doing the opposite Friday and Saturday, walking Naperbrook. One of the friendliest green to tee courses I play. But that's about it LOL. With zero play so far I expect the greens to be in the best condition I have ever seen them. It will be interesting to see if walkers only at 8 per hour leave zero ball marks.

Enjoy! I've been 3 times now and it is a great golf experience. They say overall it is like a 10 mile walk so your dad should shed a few more during the day.

3 wasn't bad as they had a cut through moved in the grass and the tees were somewhat on lower levels. Don't forget the walk to the 16th tee. That is a ***** as well.

Walked (carried) Big Run a few years ago in the early Spring (no carts were allowed) and it wasn't horrible for a guy in his late twenties and in shape... but, we rolled up to the 17th tee box and we all of the sudden lost sight of these two older guys who were in front of us all day (we were a foursome). We rolled up to the tee box, confused about their whereabouts, and saw them just lying on the side of the tee box absolutely exhausted. Was a classic moment (they told us to play through!).

I wholeheartedly believe that carrying a bag up hills is easier on the legs than pushing a cart and the extra weight up a hill. I've never been more winded on a course than pushing a cart from 13 to 14 on Highlands of Elgin on a hot day, that was my turning point. And to be honest, carrying Saturday didn't feel all that bad, at the time. Perhaps carrying 36 for the first round of the year, with extra rain gear in the bag wasn't the best scenario for the back, but the legs were fine. Compound that with not being able to hit a gym for the last 6 weeks and had to chase my children around rather than work out, I realized how quickly my body had fallen out of shape. Perfect storm for a couch and bourbon Sunday.

That course somehow stays in incredible condition year round. It's amazing. I haven't seen them aerate greens in forever and they're still great. Although 4" of rain might have thrown them off a bit here....

Parts of 11 fairway are about underwater at Seven Bridges already. They may be in a tough spot come Friday if they have to close the back (happened last year). Water is also creeping up on 16 and 10.

I agree. Given the amount of rain we have had the past couple of days, I would be preparing for a mud round, but I bet Stonewall will still be in very good shape.

Playing Bowes Creek next Wednesday. Last time I played Bowes was in 2012. Been way, way too long.
