I prefer match play anyhow, don’t try continuous putting there.

Putting out is actually encouraged by my tournament director in my golf league competition but I also know that you can get disqualified or lose a hole if you play out of turn in match play.

You sound like you've got yourself covered either way (the purpose of this thread ? :classic_laugh: )

Continuous putting is most certainly NOT impolite (or is that what you meant ? :classic_laugh: ). It's not against the rules of stroke play and the Pros, while we don't want everybody to do everything the Pros do, is done all the time and is always encouraged, at every level.

So, given the title of this thread and how everybody's posted in it, I have no idea whether I agree with you or not. Wonder if that's what the OP intended ? 51683a_23dc9318bead43469d830ec87021bae3~

If you can't stop at your ball, figure out the yardage, make sense of where the flag is in relation to the rest of the 'green complex', pick a club, practice swinging it, hit the ball, clean the club, put it away, and continue on, in less than 2 minutes 90 seconds, you should be ran over by a mower and turned into fertilizer for the grass you've critically injured standing around like a ****.

EDIT--first I said 2 minutes, but just attempted to replicate a situational 162-2/3 yard shot from under a tree to the back left corner of the green over a bunker, and was able to replicate all required movements to the amusement of my family, in 47.92 seconds, so now I say a minute n a half or the Toro eats your lunch, ya big loserface dummy.

Play faster.

Slowpoke. Lol. The rules of etiquette state that the first player should play in 40 seconds. The other players should take 30 seconds.

Is it okay if I do all that in 15 seconds?  Quick scope, select club, gentle half swing to make sure none of the joints have locked up, quickly align to the target, no nervous mannerisms, and swing.

In my younger days I used to take 4 practices swings. I realized over time that my first practice swing was the one so why waste the best swing on a practice swing. I got to the point I would address the ball and swing. Now that I am older I take several what I call "making sure the joints haven't locked up" swings to the side then I address the ball and swing away.

There’s only so many good swings in my body and I’m not wasting any in a pre shot routine or on the practice range!

I seriously think some peoples swings break down over the course of a full round of golf because of how many practice swings they take. At the high end of things someone may have 60-70 full swings during a round. If that person is taking 3-4 practice swings plus the actual shot that adds up quick.

I apologize if I posted this before, but if you need MOI in a putter because you cannot find the center, then no new tool is going to help you.  Better head to the practice green or take a lesson, or probably both.

Over half the pros play high MOI putters, and spend more time on the practice green than one can imagine. Guess they're doing it wrong.

You think that a pro plays any certain putter because they cannot find the center?  There are a lot of reasons, but this is not one of them.  Also, way to compare the average putter ho on WRX who cannot putt with anything to a pro.  This might be the most simple statement that I have ever seen on WRX, and that is saying something... on so many levels.

Pros are human. They may find the center of the putter face more often than us mere mortals, but they do miss it at times. The primary reason why any player would play a high MOI putter is because they're more forgiving on off center strikes. Simple physics.

Putting is all in your head, and putter 'technology' is smoke and mirrors as the putting stroke is the least physically demanding stroke when playing golf. They are temporary fixes but doesn't address the root problem which is the lack of practce leading to an inability to keep the face square and hit center on what is the easiest physical movement you can have playing golf.

Find a putter that suits your eye, and just practice - way more effective than switching putters every year ;-).

I hate tucking my shirt in and wearing a hat, if courses let you play in a t-shirt I'd never wear a 'golf shirt' again .

PGA should have a couple weekends here and there where players have a limited bag, maybe 5 clubs plus a putter or something like that.

I think it’d be cool to see how they make choices of which clubs to include in their bag and how they use those clubs more creatively in situations they normally wouldn’t use them.

There should be more in course OB. Hooking/blocking your drive off the face of the earth a hole or two over should not allow you to keep playing it. With no penalty. At many courses you may have a fairway/tee box lie.

wasn't that a disaster at the open championship when they did it?

Honestly don't remember the feedback but I thought it was pretty negative.

No clue. What year are we talking? I’d be interested in reading up on it. Although, tbh, I don’t doubt that pros bitched about something that made the game harder…
