I play from the middle white tees. I have a friend who more often than not hits it longer than I do and he plays from the up tees. He likes the drive, then wedge game.

I'm 65, wish I could hit it 240, play from the whites and have no plans to move up to the gold tees until I can't hit it 175.

If your group is more than a hole behind, you should not be able to stop for drinks with the drink cart.

There should be a slow golfer cart pulling a trailer that sweeps the course every hour. Just pick up the slowpokes and fling them in the trailer like so much cow manure.

I disagree.. Stop for drinks and let the groups behind play thru. 

 

I know what you mean. People like that don't care if they are that far behind and certainly don't care holding you up while they stop with the cart girl.

😄 I think it's one of the few times guys ever have a girl in near captivity and her tip depends upon her demeanor. I have never seen a connection in my golfing life though I've seen many guys give it a try.

 

It's the perfect storm. Hey look, a girl's coming out to visit me, she's cute and she's plying me with alcohol.

As an addendum to my previous gripe, let's add the rule that if you can't hit the ball more than 50 yds off the tee on you're 3rd mishit a parade of clowns drives out to your group and escorts you off the course with great fanfare. 

 

I can understand an occasional poor teeshot, especially the "breakfast ball" 1st hole. However, if the group behind you is meeting you on the teebox because you're reloading for the 15th time, maybe pickleball is a better activity for you.

Cart woman and cart girl are two different things.  Grown men flirting with a cart girl is small-D energy to the max and probably drive a lifted truck or referring to yourself as an alpha.  Sounds like Chris Hanson needs to make a comeback for some of you...

I bought a few! I was playing as a single and got paired with an older couple that were longtime members, so they knew her and her family quite well. They put in some good words for me after the fact and eventually we got together. It was a pretty cool story. When we eventually did get married, we looked into inviting those elderly members that helped out, but sadly they had passed away. Too bad, that would have been really nice.

Depending on who I am paired up for the day I can end up being embarrassed when the cart girl pulls up to my foursome. I play in a group of 12 mid sixties guys. We have two guys that flirt like crazy when the cart girl pulls up. I end up apologizing sometimes to the cart girl because of them. I'll tell them after she pulls away do you really think a young girl is going to be interested in a bunch of old men? And then we have the cheap guy. He recently bought a Gatorade from the cart girl because he forgot to bring his drink with him. The Gatorade was $3.50. He gave the girl $4 and stood there waiting for his change. When the girl figured out he was standing there waiting for his change she says I am sorry I am out of change. He replies when you get some change you can bring it back to me. When we finished the round and she hadn't come back yet he went into the clubhouse to complain and get his 50 cents back.

He probably has a reputation around town when he goes out to eat. I bet he doesn't even know that the waitstaff spits on his food before they deliver it to him.

The important question is are they spitting on everyone's food when we eat with him after our round? 

 

Our last time out he didn't leave a tip at all. His reasoning being the price on the iced tea was too high. It came with free refills and he had the waitress bring him three refills. I told him it wasn't her fault what they charge for iced tea and she worked harder for him than the rest of us.

 

I told the guy running our group that I plan on being a fill in next year. I'll fill in for him when he isn't playing. I'll see how that goes.

The original golfing Scots would likely think that modern golf is FUBAR and completely misses the point. Instead of wasting money and time on the latest and greatest equipment and tech, on instructors who contradict the last instructor, and on fitters happy to fit today’s swing, just grab some sticks, grab a friend, and go spend precious quality time together walking around hitting a little ball into a hole.

AFA unpopular opinions, I'd rather play slow, than feel like I need to sprint everywhere on the course.  I still play ready golf, and act with purpose and efficiency mind, but this is a leisure activity.  We're not getting this done in 2 hours, no matter how much some people dearly wish we could.

Sorry if you work in the legal profession and I offend, but there are simply too many lawyers in the world. I've now played close to 1400 courses, and don't ever recall seeing a warning sign about using a tunnel. Oy veh.
