This will actually be very unpopular:

If you need MOI or other gimmicks in a putter, then you stink, might be slightly brainwashed and are doing it wrong.  If your new magic tool is $600 and you net $40 an hour, just spend 15 hours practicing with your old putter and you will be better for it.  Learn how to putt with what you have which is mostly reading greens, squaring a face, mental stuff and pace.  You can apply these to any tool.  Then, go and find a putter that you prefer and adapt to it.  Putter fittings are dumb too.  Skill/preference > fittings.

Happy Monday.

Like the guys with the pickup trucks with a lift kit parking in the handicap spot.

I am missing your point?

I am handicapped and so is my wife. I drive a lifted pickup truck. My handicap doesn't prevent me getting into my truck. Well at least not that often.

My wife had spinal surgery a month ago and has to learn how to walk again. She doesn't drive but she does ride in my truck. I have to help her get in the seat. We park in the handicap spots. I get her wheel chair out, help her out of the truck and into her wheel chair.

Owning a lifted truck might not be the best option for me but handicap people don't want to feel handicapped and they try not to be limited to what they can do. Maybe I should get a van with a wheel chair lift to be better deserving of that handicap spot.

He's likely referring to some yahoo who has someone in his family who needs the wheelchair lift but doesn't need the spot for himself.

And he'll use the spot even if the handicapped person is not with him at the time.

I apologize if that is what they meant. When someone says lifted truck I went with a truck raised higher than stock. I can't say I have ever seen a truck with a wheel chair lift.

I am handicapped. My handicap is something that flares up. When it does I have a difficult time walking. I use my handicap tag when I need too but not as an every time thing.

My wife has been handicapped for 20 years. I don't know how many times someone has questioned her about her handicap. "You don't look handicap to me" type of comments. With her using her tag over the years it has helped her delay her condition worsening until she finally needing spinal surgery last month. Every one has been very nice to my wife when we are out now with her being in a wheel chair.

I guess I am a little sensitive about certain things at the moment. Just because someone doesn't look handicap doesn't mean they are not.

Sorry to hear about the missus. And you of course.

I'm not sure exactly what he meant. He did mention a "lift kit" so that triggered "lifting a wheelchair" to me. But he could have meant a truck lifted upward too.

So long as they have the placard or the license plate, I assume it's for legitimate reasons AND the handicapped party is there.

I recently got a placard due to my herniated disc and right foot numbness that keeps progressing little-by-little, which is slowly getting worse, but so far I only use the HC spot when I just have to "run" in and pick up something quickly and all the normal spots close to the HC spot are taken.

If I'm going to be in the building for a while, I have no problem parking further away and leaving the HC spot open.

Thank you for posting this. I had a temporary handicap permit. Mine was obvious at first, then less so as I healed and got stronger. Then the missus got sick, same thing. Obvious at first, less so as she improved.

Speak out of school to the wrong person in such a situation and there will be a Problem.

I too had a disabled Wife and parked in handicap spots to make it easier for her. AndI realize people's disabilities are mot always apparent. However, too many times I believe people abuse the handicap parking privilege.

You have a right to be sensitive IMHO because others this day and time do not care. I had a temporary handicapped placard when I broke my back. I never did use it because at the same time the Docs recommended me to walk as much as possible. I figured someone worse off than me might need the space so I walked as much as I could

I do think skill is the most important thing. And putter fittings and/or preference are merely trying to find a tool that allows you to best use your skill.

That said, my wife and son and I were trying to kill time one day before going to a concert, and my son suggested we check out the local PGA Tour Superstore. So we did. And I picked up a L.A.B. putter that was too short for my preference, too light for my preference, and still had the cellophane on the head.

And I lined up a 20 foot (flat) putt and drained it dead center. Like it was nuthin'.

I haven't taken that idea and gone to set up a L.A.B. fitting...

...but I'm wonderin'.

Well it is the opposite aspect of me which I play and think Old School bare bones bolts and nuts approach to the game. And I can respect others are into the high-tech aspects of the modern game in both methods, training and equipment. To me it is whatever floats someone's boat.

Heel and toe weight for draw and fade is vastly over simplified and even represented wrongly in most cases.  If you have some super weak and low torque shaft, then some heel weight might allow the toe to get through in the swing, but this is not going to work with a stout shaft that keeps it's form or with a swing that is already closing the face.  It is all about how you square the face.  If you can square the face on your own, then toe weight will keep that part of the head moving more through impact and get you some draw.  If you cannot square the face and the toe is late, then it will hurt.  You have to break down the face closing before and during impact, not just one.

In the end, anybody who gives a one-size answer for this is not right.

POPULAR opinion: don't believe club manufactures (especially TM) about how clubs work.  They are trying to sell clubs, not educate.

Nearly all of the guys who take the blue flags near me have no physical issues, just hate that it is cart path only, otherwise want to be defiant, ride by themselves or feel cool getting to drive within 3 feet of a green or on the flat surface of the tee box.  They talk openly about it while having their pitcher or beer or coffee getting ready to leave the 60 cent tip to the poor gal who has to wait on them.  The City has to let them have a blue flag if they ask, so they take advantage and they laugh about in their little club.

They lack the self awareness and foresight to see what is going to happen to the people who really do need the benefit.  They are selfish jerks.

The best way to play better golf is being more consistent. Now will a $1000 putter help, probably some, but getting the basics down (length, toe hang etc.) will help for sure in eliminated compensations.

I know I improved my putting vastly via a fitting. Also like blade looking putters (usually toe hang) but my natural stroke is better with a face balance putter. I've had my Cleveland HB 8 for 1.5 seasons now and per using the grint stats as a 16HDCP I putt like an 8. Before it was like 13. Was it the putter itself, kinda of, it made my natural stroke better instead of trying to change or compensate subconsciously.

Can't think of a single player on Tour who doesn't use a putter with at least some forgiveness.

It should be mandatory to have a soft serve ice cream machine on site at every golf course as the bare minimum or a full service ice cream shop like the Raceway Golf Club.  Whenever I play poorly, I always quickly head out to the nearest Dairy Queen to soothe my ego...

BTW, Jack Nicklaus is truly the GOAT with his unequalled Majors record but more importantly, I recently learned that he has an ice cream shop in his Muirfield Village Golf Club that is known to serve one of the best milkshakes in any golf club in the USA.

Tension/mental issues (including yips and other similar mental-related issues) is the root cause of almost all mishits or bad shots for golfers that already know how to play (excluding beginners).

I'm incredulous that a lot of teaching pros have not focused on this as a possible cause of their student's  issues whether it's online or in person.

I've only seen one Pro acknowledge this - Martin Hall, in one of his recent episodes on the Golf Channel.

The Pros have the game tilted in their favor compared to us amateurs with the gallery serving as their personal ball spotters so I think that the Pros can swing their drivers a little bit more freely knowing that there's a 99% chance the gallery or official spotters can find their balls in the rough.

I get it that Pros have unbelievable talent but I think that we should even the playing field and have the Pros look for there own balls the same as us amateurs and see if they can swing as freely as before knowing that the ball may get lost.
