What tip weights do you guys use to get the swing weights up in these?

I didn't have to use tip weights in my build.  Only needed a little tungsten powder in the epoxy to add a gram here and there.

A better question then. If I need to go up by 6g, how would I do it?

Got to finally try my MMT 125S and it's my first time playing anything other than conventional steel shaft (used to play Modus 125S). MMT certainly feels different because it's nowhere near as hollow as a steel shaft, so it felt a bit stiffer when I just waggled the club (I know it doesn't tell anyone jack squat about the shaft, but just thought I'd share...)

The club itself felt super smooth (I have a smooth swing) during play, which is what mattered to start off. It mimicked my steel shafts and there was nothing that felt inferior or told me this shaft was different in any way. If anything, these MMT felt smoother and still had the stiffness to deliver.

The biggest, and perhaps the most notable thing, are the vibrations on bad shots (what every other MMT user has said is absolutely true).

I'm not the greatest golfer (only started just over a year ago; I shoot in the mid to upper 80s), but today was my first time in 6 months post ruptured Achilles surgery. I still can't run, so you can imagine how less of pushing power I have in a swing. Everyone knows the really bad shots where that vibration ripples through the club and up through your arm and joints. Even those shots (whatever your bad shot is... thinned, fat, shank, etc.) or whatever bad lie you have, no pain with these MMT shafts. Complete dampening. If you want to find out, go test a shaft by hitting a really fat shot or just shanking one.

All I can say is that performance wise, they certainly do act like my steel shaft, perform just as well as it, but also significantly reduces vibrations. This is a win. These shafts are a permanent keep for me.

For anyone playing MMT shafts, where can I find 125S shafts to put into my 3 wedges? Any reputable sites?

In case you haven't seen it yet, they do offer "wedge flex" shafts separate from the iron shafts. I put them in my 54 and 58, and they're basically S300s. Tourspec had them. I wouldn't recommend them _more_ than an iron shaft; do whatever. Just want to make sure you know it exists. Good luck.

I have the 105TX in my 3/4iron UT and it's perfect as well.  It's kinda like MOI matching instead of solely focusing on swing weight and total weight.  A slightly lighter shaft in the long irons helps me get a little more launch and spin which is what i'm looking for.

Good insight. Sorry if it's a dumb question but were you using a lighter shaft in the longer irons solely for flight/landing characteristics (e.g. Hybrid vs 7W launch/spin scenario) or was it to address distance?

6g of lead tape on irons? No thanks! I can do it on woods, but irons is tough.

You'd probably hate my irons.  Some of them have well more than 6g.

You must be under length or prefer a very heavy swingweight...that's the one challenge with the MMT.  There is no room for tip weights, even wood tip weights...best best for adjustability is to use an iron like ping that has weight ports you can have them tune...or go longer, or use those 25g grips....but typically the MMT build heavy due too all the material in tip half of the shaft or lack of material in the butt end...

I added a lighter shaft for 2 reasons:

1. It's a longer, heavier club in the bag and a lighter shaft helps me not get stuck as much

2. I wanted a higher flight and steeper decent into greens

Ordered. I’ll put the extra PW shaft in my gap wedge. I’m undecided on what I’ll do with my 54 and 58 degree wedges.

If you guys haven’t ordered from grips4less.com they’re pretty awesome. Free 2 day shipping that actually only took 2 days on my separate 4 iron and PW shafts orders.

Love it. I hit 50 balls off my mat and my shoulder doesn’t hurt. That never happens. Time to order the rest of them.

Brother. I’m telling you.  It’s great. You won’t be as tired at the end of a round either.  It’s upped my wedge practice to crazy levels.( I love to practice).  My body was arguing with me before.   You won’t regret it.

Lol. Same here.  42 and I was born old.    I’ve worked with my hands , upside down or on my back for 27 years.  And it’s telling on me.  Comfortable shoes , regular stretching and an anti inflammatory diet have become my best friends.

true to form , I’m a method focused person with most anything.  So I love the repetition of practice.  These shafts let me enjoy that.  I had got to a place where the modus 130x were hurting my hands and elbows within a 20 balls or so.    I don’t get that now.

Just hang with them through the adjustment period.  Took me about a month to get the aim adjusted. The dispersion and/or curve is less , so I had to adjust to a more direct aim.  Good luck.

Do you use the tungsten like shafting beads and just push some excess epoxy/tungsten mix up the shaft?

You can do so but it is very tedious as the inside diameter of the shaft is very small.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

🤔...lots of potential for you....iron covers, just sayin.  When I play golf I feel good.  When I play good I feel even better!  Feel as it relates to performance is vastly overrated.  Tootles

Be very careful pushing an epoxy mix up the shaft.  If the hardened epoxy creates a solid plug that extends up the shaft past the top of the hosel you create a shear point that could result in the shaft snapping in that spot.  Heartbreaking for a nice, expensive graphite shaft.  Especially if the clubhead flies into a pond or something.

Wow. I can’t imagine that golf epoxy could ever be stiffer than thick walled composite cured in an autoclave.

LOL, disregard then if you wish.  I'll say that you can do so at your own peril, and that tungsten powder mixed epoxy is about the least effective method of adding swingweight that I can possibly think of.  YMMV, and if you disagree I'm fine with it.

I'd shaft a head using both methods and give it an honest test before making that decision. I have a couple of college players who went from 7.0 and X7 and one went hard step and the other straight-in. Sorry, I can't remember which one chose to hard-step.
