It appears the bug is spreading!  I've got some MMT 125TXs coming for my new T100s.  I was told there is a delay in inventory of these shafts due to tour demands....

TSi3 9° - Tensei Pro Orange 70TX

TSi2 13.5° - Tensei Pro White 80TX

TSi2 18° - Tensei Pro White 80TX

718 TMB 3 - Tensei Pro White 100TX

T100 4-GW - MMT 125TX

SM8 54° & 58° - MMT 125TX

Odyssey Big-T Blade

Anyone have high spin issues with these shafts?  I put in the 105 S and spin seems to be all over the place.  Sometimes I will hit a iron and it will come up 10 yards short of my regular distance and other times it will fly as it should.  I can't seem to get consistent yardages with these.

In my testing last week, the spin numbers of the MMT 125TX in a T100 head was virtually identical to that of the DG X7s I currently play.  This is bloody impressive in my books.  5 swings and I was sold.

Yeah there's a reason more and more PGA Tour players are putting them in the bag.  The tide is turning on steel, I would bet within 5 years you will see a massive shift to graphite on the pga tour.

Have the MMT Utility Iron 105TX in my U500 4 iron. Unbelievably awesome to hit. Waiting on my irons with the MMT Taper Irons 125TX. Been a long delay in getting in.

I'm assuming because the 105TX UT is 113g that cutting/tipping the shaft that much didn't drastically change Swing weight?

I sold my Miura combo with the 125tx ss to raise funds for a house. Today I took my backup 105tx and and some Adams mb2’s to my builder. Picking them up tomorrow and hoping they will play very similar to modus 120x.

Building up a set of Srixon Z7s with the 125tx later this week. I am coming out of Miura 1957 CBs with X7s. Was thinking this may be a more forgiving set up. My only worry was that they may spin too much but reading through this thread eased my worries. Excited to see how they turn out!

I have a set of 7 weight MB2s in my closet with X100 TI. They maybe have 20 rounds on them. Such a solid head one of the best looking blades ever made IMO.

I got hold of the 5 weight version but in great condition. Hoping that they play as great and forgiving as the Ben Hogan Icons do.

I just posted mine up in the classifieds. Interested to see what the interest is like.. The 7 plug is very forgiving for a blade.

I play the MMT 95S in my new Callaway Apex/Apex Pro combo set and enjoying them so far. Looking to build a custom driving iron and want a MMT shaft. Should I go 80 S or 90S understanding that this is the 42" shaft weight and I will cut it down to a 39.5" playing length?

Thanks!

I've always had better luck playing Iron shafts in my DI. Currently have the DG X7 in my Srixon driving iron.

I do the same with hybrids.  Part of the reason is continuity with irons, part is that iron shafts can be found at heavier weights, which I prefer.

The parallel tip MMT 80/90 stiff shafts are iron shafts that come in 42" lengths then get cut down. I believe they're very similar to the MMT hybrid shafts though. I hear a preference towards the heavier shaft though.

This may be a silly question, but I’m really starting to tinker with my bag for the first time so I’m not familiar with a lot of this stuff. I ordered a 105 TX 6 iron shaft to test and the spec sheet says it’s 37.5 inches. Is it going to be 37.5 uncut and then need to be trimmed to length once installed?

Anyone know if the 125g stiff/tx will be offered by any OEMs this upcoming season? I'm gonna be buying toward the end of the year and will go w/ Peoples for a custom build if not, but would love to save some scratch if possible... have to think that one of Ping/Titleist would want to have MMT in the fold for their upcoming launches...right?!

I have the same numbers and went 125-TX SSx1 although the stiffs weren't available at the time. If I had to do it again I'd still go with my soft stepped TX's.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Wow, spent way too much time reading through this thread but there's a ton of helpful experiences and stories.  So I decided to dip my toes into the MMT pool and give it a shot.  A little about me - 6'9", 7iron SS around 93mph, driver around 115 with a super smooth transition.

I had a set of Apex Pro '21's built up earlier this year with DG TI X100 at +1.5".  Unfortunately these are heavy hammers with the 4iron at E0.5 and the 7iron at E3.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that Callaway was selling individual iron builds with the MMT 105TX - I figured with the shaft weight around 113-114g it would have enough heft to stand up to my smooth swing but also be stiff enough in the TX version.  The current set with the X100's are probably almost too much shaft for my transition (but I do love how they feel) as previously I played $-Taper 120's and had the original Project X 5.5's in my MP-33 until I wore out the grooves.

I'm now waiting patiently for the new 7iron to show up where I can do a side-by-side comparison between the shafts (all other components are the same).  I do have access to a Trackman hitting bay so I'll be sure to run both through the paces to see how things go.

My AP21 MMT 105tx 7iron showed up yesterday and immediately made it to the range in the evening. Needless to say I’m impressed and sold on this shaft.

Felt like a love child of a smooth MCA graphite shaft with the flight characteristics of my DG TI X100’s. I can see why people who are properly fitted make the switch. It even brought a smidge more of a forged soft feel to well struck balls on the AP21 face which some (myself included) say is a little clicky. This shaft in a true forged head would be a great combo.

Swingweight with the same build specs came down from E3 to E0 and turned this into a noticeably easier to swing club. Easy to flight and didn’t have any jumpers when I laid into some harder swings. I might do some time on the Trackman but at this point I’m past being sold on the benefits - the WRX’er in me is already pulling together an order for the 105tx with the Callaway TCB heads.

That's exactly what I recommend for players who use longer than standard iron shafts.  The 105TX is a great option at 113-114g.

Now the next test is to see if Callaway can build me up a set with the 105TX and their TCB heads using a lighter weight to get the SW down to the mid-D range.  I think they can adjust the weight in the TCB head by 9g - but from my research it's pretty much a tour van only modification and not sure if they can accomodate my ask with a factory build.  Fingers crossed that they can make it happen.

Any thoughts/use on modus 120x vs MMT 125S? Dabbled with a 125TX last year and I just wasn't getting consistent numbers with it, which I attributed to the shaft being too stiff, even though it felt fine.

From what I heard from TXG, the TX is about a 7.0 on the rifle scale, and I assume then 125S is about a 6.0, which is much closer to where Modus 120X is.
