Golf course suggestion - Scottsdale in November 2020

A group of 12 bodies will be flying in Phoenix-Scottsdale in November 2020.....Would like to know from locals which course is a must & how to get the lowest green fees to play them.

 

I've been in Tucson a few times in the last 10 years & I'm quite surprise to see the green fees cost in Scottsdale vs Tucson in the same period of the year (October -November) ! In Tucson, played The Gallery, The Golf Club at Dove Mountain, Vistoso....to name the one I appreciated !

A group of us did a trip to Scottsdale in November last year . Firstly I would suggest you buy a Troon Card so you can get deals at Troon North, Wickenberg Ranch, Quintero, Boulders and Ak Chin.

In 10 days we played those 4 plus Grayhawk, WeKoPa, Talking Stick, TPC Stadium and Seven Canyons at Sedona. I would do the same again. TN, Boulders, GH, TS and WKP all have two courses so you have plenty of choice.

Also the Troon Card gets cheaper towards the end of the year, so November is a great time to buy one.

If you are on a budget, Phoenix has 2 excellent munis. Papago and Aguila

November, especially early November, many courses are "cart path only" due to overseeding. Call the course and ask them about it before booking.

Worst months of the year to play golf in Scottsdale (from worst to best)

2. November

3. August

4. July

5. September

6. December

7. June

8. January

October is prime oversees. November is recovery. August is muggy and the worst non-overseen conditions. July is just hot. September can be nice or could catch early overseed at a lot of place. 5-12 are all good but September can be very hot and December can be cold and rainy. June is underrated as it is bone dry even though it is hot. January is usually nice but can be like December and May can be almost as hot as June. February-April is usually perfect.

 

There's a reason that all three clubs I belong to in the PHX metro area have their member-guest at the end of March-April... Perfect conditions.

Sorry, in relevance to this thread I'd pick the courses out of overseed the longest. Anything above 2000' in elevation, e.g. Troon North, likely didn't overseed greens which is also very helpful. Also, always post in the Southwest subforum if you want the most up to date data. There's a running course conditions thread there where a number of the locals that are playing all of the great public course post conditions.

Played Rancho Manana today. $85 approx. Short, tight, fun course. Fairways in great shape. Greens OK, Carts allowed on fairways. Lot of good restaurants in this area.
