I thought they look incredible. I messed with paint fill a little and made a huge mess. I'm pretty artistic, too. I think it's awesome.

I just “upgraded” my wife’s clubs last fall, as she has begun to FINALLY get into golf more, “since COVID” changed everything. She had a really nice set before, but they weren’t fitted (she’s 5’3” and barely weighs 100 lbs soaking wet) and this has really helped her enjoy things more, in conjunction with a random lesson every few months:

 

Driver - Callaway BB REVA w Speeder 35g shaft (12.5* tuned to 13.5*)

 

Fairways - Callaway BB REVA w Kuro Kage Black 45g shafts (3 - 18* & 5 - 21*)

 

Hybrids - Callaway BB ‘19 w pink NV 55g shafts (4 - set at 20* & 5 - set at 24*)

 

Irons - Cleveland UHX w Recoil pink 60g shafts (6 thru P) and custom BB@F ferrules / paintfill to match

 

Wedges - Cleveland SmartSole 4.0 w Recoil Pink 60g shafts (G, S and chipper) and custom ferrules / paintfill

 

Putter - Bettinardi SS3 Raw, that I had plated in polished nickel, and then did a P2 grip / paintfill to match her irons

 

She also has the “matching” 7 wood (24*), 5 iron, D-wedge to go with the others, but this is currently the set she seems happy / comfortable with going with …. She gets the deer in headlights look when I try to explain to her having different options for different conditions / courses …. So, yes : I took it too far on her upgrade, in typical GolfWRX fashion 

 

Admittedly, she has “nicer” (more valuable) clubs than I do ; but if this enhances her enjoyment of the game/club … it’s worth every penny. Her old clubs are probably nicer than 95% of most women's sets, and they’ll be finding their way to the board, when I get around to cleaning them up ….

OP here.  I noticed many. Of the posters help their wife pick their first set.  Back in the mid 1980’s when we were dating.  My wife was not a golfer.  She was a softball player who worked her way from short stop as a young lady to Deep right field as she entered her 30’s.  It was time to change sports.  One day she comes home with a brand new beginner bag with matching Judy Rankin Clubs.  (They were an odd, wood / metal wood combo). She also picked up a Lynx copper putter because it was pretty.  That set took her from shooting in the 120’s, to the low 90’s.  Her next set were DCI’s which she had until she could break 80.  She keeps her clubs a long time.  (At least a decade each set).  I am sure her current set will take her until she can shoot her age.

My wife started to play 15 years ago, and we bought her a starter set from Inesis. 14 years ago she stopped playing golf …. And since then her clubs were in the basement. Now she started again, this time for real, she became even a member at my club. For the time being she still uses the the Inesis driver and 5-wood, but we bought Cobra Max ladies irons with Matrix shafts and Winn grips, from 5-iron to SW. And she uses a Scotty California putter with an UST Frequency Filtered shaft and a Winn grip.

Next purchase is a 4 hybrid and a Driver.

My wife just started playing and she’s been hooked! I’m enjoying it — we played together for the first time ever last week and had a great time. First time she had ever hit a ball off grass, so kept it low key and fun. 
 

Didn’t keep score. 
Nine holes. 
Near empty golf course. 
I teed it up for her in fairway a couple times to minimize frustration. 
 

Goal was for her to hit at least one good shot per hole and she did it! She did great and had a blast.  
 

What’s safe in her WITB:

Driver: PXG Gen 4 0811 XF in 12 deg (she hits the nuts out of this driver!)

5w and irons are vintage early 1990s…will be upgraded in steps over the next few weeks!

I would love to hear more feedback on what's working for your wives! 

Here is the current setup after a request for less clubs and more Maltby KE4 Max irons (started with just the GW). Previously her was a bag full of hybrids including Wishons all the way through PW. 

She loves her driver, her Titanium 5 wood, and the KE4 irons the most. 

The Maroon Dot LW was a club I bought to experiment with, but she found it and really likes it. The super upright lie allows her to choke up on it all the way which I think helps her have control and height on pitches.

We were always a golfing family.  My wife was competitive through her early 30's and won a few state level amateur events.  These days, it is more about exercise and socializing than the golf.  Although......she can still throw the rock when her arthritis is cooperating.  

 

Driver: Titleist 915D2 (45 gram Kuro Kage shaft).  This was one of mine that we put her shaft into.  She doesn't hit it far but is always easy to find.

FW's:  Various Ping generations.  19°, 22°, 26° (all with ULT Lite shaft)

Hybrid: Ping G400 30°

Irons: 7i - PW Titleist 710 AP2 (Kuro Kage 55g L flex)  I put her shaft in a set of heads I had in the shop.

Wedge: Oil Can Vokey 54° bent to 55° (Kuro Kage 55 g L Flex)

Putter: Original Zing 2 that she's used since the early 80's and it's never left her bag

 

Great thread.  To those that commented with "Women shouldn't play golf", one day you will be old and grey.  I hope you all have found a best friend and love of your life to spend those last years with.  I am lucky enough to have found mine.

Also moved her out of Nelly's old wedge shafts which were too stiff for her and did the 8i "spinner trick" from the tech forums with 80R matching iron shafts instead.
