Warning! Do not purchase from TGW! Unbelieveable!

Ordered the Srixon 785 driver. They sent it with a Callaway wrench and a Wilson Staff wrench. Neither of those wrenches worked. When I contacted them, this was their response!

How the heck do you sell a new OEM driver when you don't have the tool?

The more important question is why did Cleveland/Srixon opt to go against what is basically an industry standard.

I get the frustration, but I’ve ordered numerous times from TGW and they’ve always been great. Maybe call Srixon and see if they’ll send you a tool given the circumstances.

I would blame Srixon if TGW were honest enough to tell me in advance that they didn't have the tool.

Sorry OP, I understand you’re frustrated, but this doesn’t seem like that big of a deal... it’s a wrench. Call TGW and speak to someone else, or just contact Srixon directly. I’ve dealt with TGW many times and it’s always been a great experience. Sending two different OEM driver tools is hardly an “unbelievable” thing that warrants nobody buying from them.

I’ve also bought from other OEM’s where they’ve sent clubs with the wrong grips, lengths, one time the wrong club head entirely but all the other specs were correct on it... this stuff happens.

The driver has been out for long enough that it’s replacement will be coming soon. It’s pretty common for the big box stores to run out of head covers and tools for prior gen clubs as well.

You’re not wrong. You should’ve gotten a brand specific wrench. Have you asked them to credit you for the cost of a wrench or for the hassle of now having to reach out to Srixon for a wrench?

 

Boycotting TGW is a little excessive though.

I’d bypass TGW (who can’t help you anyway) and call Srixon. I bet they’d hook you up.

I did. They haven't done anything. They said their Srixon product manager won't be in until Monday.

Most OEM wrenches are interchangeable, though the amount of torque might be slightly different (I think one OEM in particular is a different torque).

Srixon is different in that the tip is different, so the only wrench that will fit into the bolt is the Srixon wrench. It's annoying and apparently the TGW employee didn't realize this. I think this is a fairly forgiveable mistake. Just let them try to fix it.

Any nearby courses that sell Srixon. I bet they’d let you use a wrench to at least get the settings changed to where you want them. Then hopefully TGW will come through for you with the correct one. Inconvenient yes, but really doesn’t seem like that big of an obstacle.

This is the most over-dramatic thread title I ever recall seeing on this site. It's a massive online store who happened to not have the wrench for an old NOS driver. Give them a chance to rectify the situation before blasting a company who has provided positive service to tens of thousands of golfers. Life is easy, and this is not an all caps, end of days ordeal.

The Z785 driver really isn't an old NOS driver. The Z785 driver was released in late 2018. So 18 months or so back. As large as TGW is they should easily be able to come up with a Srixon wrench.

I understand what you're saying. Big businesses have big business issues, and when it comes to a niche product, sometimes these sorts of things happen. I do stand by my statement though, and think that giving TGW the chance to make it right is far more reasonable than blasting them on a public forum while proclaiming that no one should purchase from the company.

Surely there is a Golf Galaxy, Dicks, PGA Superstore, Club Champion, True Spec, GolfTec or golf course reasonably around you that carries Srixon. Pop in there let them set it for you how you would want to play. Email Cameron back politely saying "Hey Cameron, I tried both wrenches and they don't fit, could I get the correct wrench please or at least a credit of $X because that is what they are selling for on eBay?"

You go out and play golf and await their response and your new tool. Definitely not a boycott worthy offense by anymeans. Jeez I wonder what happens when someone cuts you off in traffic!

Are you overreacting a little bit too much and making too big of a deal over this? Also yes.

Wow this seems a little overboard to me. Mistakes happen and it sounds like the employee is trying to help you. Said if it doesn't work let them know as you did and now they have to get with the rep to resolve. It is the weekend and not out of the question for the rep to not be available until Monday. It sounds like they are doing what they can to make it right for you. Give them a chance to make it right, it will not happen overnight. I would think if you made a mistake you would want the chance to make it right. Rushing it also could lead to more mistakes as well. I hope it works out for you.
