Alright here we go, my 2025 WITB. I'm going to give as much info on my setup as possible. Only thing I don't really know is SW cause I don't care too much about that. 

 

Driver

Ping G430 LST 9°

Flat+ setting playing 10°

22g weight in neutral position with 6g of lead tape i think 6g. 

TPT Nitro 15Hi, 45.5" playing length 

 

 

 

3 Wood

Callaway AI Smoke Triple Diamond 15°

Neutral Stated Loft 

GraphiteDesign AD-IZ 7X standard length.

 

 

3 Hybrid 

Ping G425 19°/3H 

Small+ setting playing 20°

Tensei CK Orange Pro 90TX standard length.

All full swing clubs get a Golf Pride MCC Plus4 Midsize. I tend to prefer 1-2 extra wraps under the bottom hand.

There we go finally an update WITB. Some things may change but will just stick with this for now and work on breaking 80 and getting that handicap to single digits. 

 

I do need to do a gapping session with the new irons and might need to bend the wedges if I have too much of a gap. 

 

Also if you are good at math I currently only have 13 clubs so potential for something new. Will it be another Wood? Maybe a mini driver? Will see.

Ping really needs to hire me lol. 

 

Just get through that honeymoon phase, if you swap out shafts just get the right one in there and the right back weight too. That thing should be money then.

Love this setup. The 58 S/M grind is super interesting. I think the current M grind is starting to have too much bounce/camber.

Thanks the 58 story isn't anything wild. Got fit into this setup and one day these wedges popped up on the BST just the 58 was a 10S not an 08M but I bought them anyways. 

 

I have a buddy who does custom club work and asked him if that could be ground to an M grind, no idea if the bounce is 8 but it works especially in the sand. 

 

So I got a basically new set of SM9 wedges customized and built to spec for less than 3 of them OTR.

I think the SW might be a touch light on the new irons, seem to be fatting a few shots probably just losing feel. Also dealing with a back injury but swing driver fine. 

 

Playing Sunday will see how it goes, if I see a bunch of issues will contact the fitter and see if we can test a bit, might just be some lead tape needed or something else. I guess going from longer irons the overall weight I liked more.

First full round with the new irons today, I didn't play great it was an absolute scorcher today and felt even hotter, apparently felt as hot as 118F. Also as mentioned above my back is still not cooperating so not moving great and stiff. 

 

With those excuses out of the way i think the irons are fine, the issues I had are probably stemming from the injury. After doing some rehab exercises and mobility I wasn't seeing those fat shots on the course with the iron, just my 50 today but that's another story. 

 

I am really liking the ball flight on these, my PXG went a mile high, it was absurd. These are still high but much more piercing and even with slightly stronger lofts I'm not seeing much if any additional distance. 

 

These seriously could be very slept on irons.

When I picked them up buddy said the bay was free for a few minutes before the next fit so I could hit a few. Just unwrapped the 7i and after 2 warm up swings hit a few out to 190 carry just all over the center line. 

 

I think I'll like these.

One thing I've never understood... A good buddy of mine plays their clubs religiously (even the putter range) and loves them.

Tour presence helps a ton but cobra is still lacking there a bit. Their woods got popular because of the price point they are at which for many parts of the world is huge. Plus they're good we cannot deny that. 

 

The rest of their clubs especially irons more people need to hit, I'm sure if they had a bit more tour success they'd be selling. But people go into the shops they hit the Big 4 plus Mizuno and Srixon and Cobra is an afterthought sadly. I'm sure you've read enough on this forum when people hit cobra irons they're shocked at how good they are, I know i was. Then I heard the price of these vs the Pings and I knew it was the Cobras at that point, they were the better iron too.

 

I think bottom line is fitters need to get more people to hit cobra irons in a fitting, I'm not saying push them on people just have them hit as an option. Then like Srixon years ago just spread via word of mouth and let the hype build.

Great setup. How does the tour iz pair with the low spin triple diamond head? Does it give a higher ball flight with low spin?

Uh it works, kinda. I was originally fit into a Paradym X head but it started becoming a spinny hook machine. Found a TD head at a good price and swapped it in. It kinda works but I think the 3W might be looked at soon, feel like I need something a bit heavier shaft wise.
