I was wondering which TP MB is the better feeling and performing between the two below?

2012 TOUR PREFERRED MB

2014 TOUR PREFERRED MB

I have nothing to offer, but wanted to say the 14’s are one of my all time favorite clubs in the appearance category. I wish I could buy a new set or that TM would bring something very similar out.

I’ve always loved the ‘14 and I remember wanting them when they came out. I might be able to get my hands on a set and just wanted to see what y’all thought. The other question is, is the 690MB or say an MP33 or MP32 better?

MP-18's

 

I played the 14' for over a year, almost 2. Wanted to upgrade and got a set of MP-18's and they are so similar in almost every way aside from the cut in the muscle on the back. Feel and how they played was much better with MP-18's. Still love the 14' and recently sold the heads but MP-18 might be the holy grail for me for a while.

MP18 are by far the best irons I’ve played. Cleanest look, solid feel, soft but solid and very forgiving for a true blade. Used to play 690mb.

never hit the TMs but always thought they looked awesome. Kind of a throwback to the. TN87 or MP29

I played the 2012 MB's for 6 years and loved them. I do think the 14s look cleaner but I liked my irons so much I cant say I ever hit the 14s. 2012 MB's are my favorite iron ive ever played

I’ve owned the MP’s, as far as they go, the MP32’s are more forgiving and flew higher than the 33’s.

The MP-33 is a true blade, so it flights a bit lower, not as forgiving, but great feel.

Id be hard pressed to say what felt better, I think the shaft has more to do with feel when comparing Mizuno to Mizuno with the same grain flow forging anyways. I felt both were better than the Titleist 690’s in my opinion, but any of those 3 models are great. The 32’s may be the highest flying, but I have only hit a playing partners 690’s sporadically while I was gaming MP-37’s and then MP-67’s at the time. The MP’s all feel equally Mizuno butter smooth to me. It would boil down to flight preference and perhaps forgiveness if your ball striking isn’t top shelf, and price if that’s a concern. They are all great clubs. You can’t go wrong with any acquisitions, I’d just buy the one that has the best fitting shaft weight and flex For your swing, and roll with that.

I have the 2012 set and I won’t admit to them being the nicest looking wrenches made but, that weighting in the back of the iron does provide a very very good feel. I don’t really like those soft butter feels. Like Tiger (not because of Tiger) I like feeling that click / feedback. That concentrated weight provides that. Much like the Cobra MBs of new with the plug in the bottom.

The 2014 version are a lot better on the eyes. Softer too. Great irons.

You can get both sets for relatively cheap right now.

I’ve been looking at either getting a set of ‘14 TP MBs or a combo set of MP30/32. I’ve always wanted the 14s but the combo set is really intriguing

The MP-30 was my entrance into Mizuno irons. The irons that preceded them were Hogan Edge and Wilson Staff RM’s. After hitting the MP-30 I was sold on Mizuno irons. The MP-30’s were great........ not any difference in flight or feel than the MP-32’s from my view, but then again I wasn’t on the launch monitors back then, so I was eyeballing trajectory. I remember my distance was the same between the pair. My Mizuno sets went 30’s 32’s 37’s 33’s and settled on the 67’s . They all felt the same with the exception of the 37’s, but that was because they were the only clubs that weren’t either DG S400’s or X100’s, the 37’s had PX 6.0 hard stepped.

I think a lot of people create this mythic view of certain Mizuno iron sets MP-32’s MP-33’s as a step above the others for some reason¯\_(ツ)_/¯ baffles me! I have hit many of them, and didn’t find much difference from one model to the next. I only bought each different set because I was young and bought into the mythos. They are all great clubs that have the Mizuno Grain forged feel. Some flight slightly, and I mean slightly different, but they all felt the same to me, and if you hit any of them thin, they all punish you equally.

A pro playing partner of mine had a split set of 67’s and 57’s which I hit regularly and If blindfolded I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. I knew they weren’t mine because he had PX 6.5 shafts in his and my 67’s were X100’s back then.

If the combo set is available and in good shape, then why not, they are great sticks ? If they are full sets of each,( if it were me buying them,)I’d go for the best condition of the two. If you are looking for a trial where you may turn them over, then I’d suggest the 32’s because resale is easier and higher.......... that doesn’t mean they are better in my opinion.

Im sure people will disagree with my assessment on the fractional differences between the models, but I never found any differences worth quibbling over.

Ive never hit the 14 MB’s so I can’t compare them!
