Solid/firm but not overly clicky. Don't like my putters too soft can throw off my speed unless I'm dialed in.

He can probably do this. It’s just translucent paint from what I understand. You know who else is really good at this? Mannkrafted.

Looks wise great, couldn't be happier. 

 

Performance wise still seeing if it lives up to my standards in a putter.

Update on my putter, have only rolled it on the course once but much more in my basement. Just threw on a Garsen Quad Pistol as I was finding that Deep Etch to be way too small and found I just couldn't control the putter head like I prefer.

 

The grip change has made a huge difference in the hand full of putts I did roll. I will play it again later this week and see how much more I like it. 

 

Still adapting to the shape and no alignment on this but it's nothing too crazy.

Thanks for the update. Sometimes grip can totally change the feel on a putter. I went through three different grips on mine before I landed on the one that just felt perfect with the head.

I knew the deep Etch was small for me but not that small to where my hands were basically always in a different spot when I gripped the club. The Garsen it's not massive by any means but sits in my hands well and I can repeat the grip easily. 

 

Now the one thing I noticed was a slight pull on some putts. Will try some temp alignment lines see if that squares things up better. 

 

So where we are at? Still tinkering but enjoying more now. Just need practice reps. 

 

tl;dr: grip change can do wonders.

So I will probably get roasted for this, but I have started using the Sweet Rollz putter grips and love them. The size and shape are exactly what I look for and the feel is great. If you can deal with the patterns and colors (I think they finally offer a black) they feel great.

Ok had my Hudson Fastback on the course again tonight with the new grip. World of freaking difference for me with the Quad Tour Pistol grip, first time with this grip on a putter but it's doing what I want. Only 3 putted once but it was 3 putt territory and not an easy putt but the rest were much better looks. Had a bunch of lag putts that ended up inside the leather of the putter so bonus there and several low make  % putts that were just a few rolls short of dropping or just off a touch on line but good speed.

 

My thoughts now on the putter, I'm definitely enjoying it more, I mean who doesn't like a putter that rolls well. Still have to get adjusted to the look and no alignment a bit but I think could be a good putter for me. The new gamer? Don't know yet but it will be one I enjoy putting with when I used it.

If there’s one thing I could do over on mine it would be adding an alignment line. Not complaining, it was my choice to go with the clean look (and it does look amazing), but I didn’t realize how much I actually use the alignment line while putting.

For me it was a new shape I was getting and I wasn't sure what alignment I'd like. You most commonly see this shape from TP Mills and Piretti with a flange line, but I've been enjoying a top line more lately. Then at the same time the shape itself is kind of an alignment. So I figured go naked, try it out, can temporarily add different alignments with tape or even paint then if I find something I like I can send it back to Josey. 

 

Figured that would be a lot easier than getting something, not liking it, selling it and having another one made. At this point I may just leave it naked, just as something a little different in my collection and I'm rolling it pretty well right now so why change it.

I've had two Mackmades done now...there is no better or more fun process than working with Josey.  He is the best custom maker right now imo.  The communication is quick, clear and easy and sky is the limit for what he can make.  I had a Newport 2 (sorry forget his names for them) and a Rahm-shape built.  Both are super high quality and really roll it well.   I need to post some pics of mine but if you're on the fence to get one - get on his list now.

I received my 2nd MackMade about a month ago and the honey moon period is still going strong.  Went with a slightly different head shape, a little flatter lie  angle and a plumbers neck instead of a flow neck this time around.  Went with a simple, clean design as my last putter was pretty personalized.  Love the feel, look and balance of this putter.

You have to wear a lot of hats to be a real putter maker, not just engineer, machinist, welder, finisher, but apparently industrial electrician too.  Lightly struck the woods behind my shop and ran in and smoked my 3 phase power inverter that powers my mill.  How’s your week goin?

I'm no expert in the field but can't you just wrap a new roll of paper towels in electrical tape, put it in the slot where the burned up roll is, and plug the wires in to the hole in the tube?

Exactly, but going to use the expensive blue shop towels so this wont happen again.

Since I typically take the Thanksgiving week off to work on my own projects or try something new. What is a headshape you have always wanted to see made by a small maker like myself? Or what shape should be modified in a certain way?

Are you a wizard Josey cause I was scrolling your IG thinking of something, cause clearly I'm sick and need help. With that said the world of golf needs to experience putters with no cavity in them, it just gives a much better feel and response I think.

 

My idea which will probably be a custom at some point once I do my putter purge, Jewel Aussie Smooth, no cavity, thinned face if need be to keep weight down.

 

Idea based off Byron Morgan 711: 

 

 

Works well with Anser 2 shapes for those that want razor thin faces. 

 

Not overly creative right now on my end.

head shape of the odyssey with the Hi Toe, with the address view of the Golo 3 minus the alignment line. Either a dot or line on top vs flange.

I could suggest something off the wall...but you should should try to make a Tribute Tri-Sole with really rounded features a la Tiger.  I think your Tribute is an awesome shape to begin with but making the bumpers, top line, shoulders, etc. really nice and smooth would look great.  A hybrid between the Jewel and the Tribute
