I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little sad we’ve reached the end. But I want to thank everyone. From @GreatStrike with many words of wisdom (especially in the early goings, the swing thoughts with longitudinal tension really helped and are appreciated) to @virtuoso for the comic relief and @iacas for the straight forward approach. 
 

I wish I could read this post again for the first time. My only wish is that GS and Ken(?) makeup. That was a rough chapter for me.

Our representatives are discussing developing a sequel, but Greatstrike doesn’t have internet access right now—we may have to wait to see if he gets parole. Iacas wants too much money to be in the sequel, and I’m waiting to hear back from my therapist about upping my meds before participating again.

I just want to say

 

I was messing around with my swing and I have gotten away from the twist

 

For me it is a very left handed feel at the top I think of tumbling the face out by twisting my left hand counterclockwise from the top

 

I was in the backyard messing with my swing and was like "hm I wonder what it looks like if I did that tumble move I used to do?"

 

And when I saw this video after an hour in the backyard I was like HOLY HELL

 

It puts me in a position that looks amazing

 

I can't do it with my right hand or else the right hand goes WAY too hard but it feels like I'm flinging a frisbee or something... I posted in this thread a while back but instead of stalling to square the face by flipping through impact this is what it looks like and I'm sold

 

I actually just have to tone it down a bit but s*** wow amazing

I am sure you are right I am happy with this position but agree my set up does not look tour level at all

Happy with what "position"?

 

I see the setup and backswing as needing a lot of attention before you even begin to worry about the downswing.

 

There will be no real "quick" suggestions here. I'd recommend you start one of your "my swing journey" type swings here and be very picky about what you choose to listen to, particularly if they're anything at all related to the downswing right now (or for quite a long time).

 

That's not going to be what you want to hear, but changes take time, and if you "fix" the downswing from there, when you eventually do improve the setup and backswing, your downswing will have to be re-learned anyway.

At the risk of further complicating matters, how does the "throw vs. twist" and "right side vs. left side dominant" debate relate to Jim Hardy's RIT vs. LOP release, if at all?

I see this was touched on early in the threat (many years ago!). Just wondering if there is any new or different thinking on how Hardy's release patterns relate to the discussion.

Throw or twist—is there a third way? 
 

I just played with a guy who hit all his irons dead straight and pure. He told me he tries to throw with his trail hand and mirror the action with his lead hand—as if he’s hitting the ball squarely with the back of his lead hand. His grip is neutral, i.e., he sees two knuckles at address. 

 

He doesn’t feel like his wrists are rotating, and he doesn’t feel like he’s leading with the heel of his lead hand a la Mike Malaska. 
 

Apologies if I’ve missed something earlier in this thread. 
 

Edit: In case it matters, he’s muscular and he says he’s not flexible and has relatively short arms.
