Has anyone had "adjusted differential" kick in?

I haven't had an adjustment since June 29 and I've played about 90 rounds since then - five adjustments all year in 173 rounds, one +1 and four -1.

In 195 rounds this year (mostly at my home course) not one time. In the past 6 weeks there have been several (more than not) days where the wind regularly exceeded 30 and gusts to 50. and not one adjustment.

Remember that it's not based on weather conditions but on the scores that are posted on that day (which weather and course conditions could affect).

Adding to what rogolf said, you also need 8 scores returned on the same day for the course. Also, I can only assume the less scores are returned, the further away they need to be from the expected distribution of scores to cause an adjustment.

 

So, if the weather is truly horrible, how likely is it that people go out and play to begin with, how many of them will return the score and how many of those will do it the same day?

Which is a large part, I suspect, why we haven't seen significant impact from this adjustment.  Less folks play on horrible days.  Less folks post their score on those days.  In general, I think folks in the US haven't been overly concerned with timely posting in the past.  Now that timely posting has more importance, it will be interesting to see if old habits change.

I've always found wind and rain to be the 2 biggest impediments to scoring with thicker and  juicier rough to be next in line.

 

Rain will keep people home far more often than a really windy day IMO.

 

The expected distribution of scores is the secret ingredient, no ? Or do we (now) know the formula ?

Yes, it's the secret ingredient, I don't know why though. The similar CBA adjustment in the EGA system was published for everyone to read and I believe CONGU did the same with their CSS.

Well I just had my first +3 PCC round. It was sunny with some wind. Temps started in the low 40s and reach low 50s by end of round. Cart path only and you couldn't easily escape casual water on a number of holes. So it was very soft and cold. My Saturday group had 12 guys and no one played well. Guess there weren't enough people who did decent to offset us, lol.
