New Level Appreciation Thread

My New Level 58* SPN M-Grind arrived today. It is a great looking wedge! Thus far I have hit some partial wedge shots in the yard with it (hip-to-hip and pocket-to-pocket) and really like the club a lot. I should get it on the course soon and also plan to do a Trackman session.

Clubs: Ping - G400Max Driver, Paradym X 5W, G430 5H-7H, G730 8i-UW irons,G730 56* SW, PLD DS72

Ball: Maxfli Tour  or Vice Pro Soft (yellow or neon lime); Sun Mountain bag; Shot Scope x5

Posted this in a different thread asking about different DTC brands, forgot about this thread.

Here are some shots of the 623 CB's, in case you were on the fence. Last couple of pics are comparison to Maltby TS-1's

Went with AMT White S300. I was looking for a compact CB in a one-piece forging and these delivered! I just got the Tri-Weight wedges as well, but may have to get the SPN.

While I do really enjoy my 902-PDs, those CBs look soooo good.

Yea the PD's look good. I would goto those next as the OS has the lofts too jacked for my liking.

The thing I like about New Level is that each offering has pretty similar offset, the package just get's a little larger.

I could see myself playing the PD. Enjoy!

Noticed on the Champions Tour telecast today that the winner of the event, Steven Alker, was wearing a New Level hat and had a New Level staff bag. Checked some on Getty. He is playing a Callaway driver. So what New Level clubs is he playing? Just irons? Pretty cool that New Level is being bagged on the Champions Tour. Well done and congrats to New Level.

EDIT - According to the New Level twitter feed he is playing their PF-2 Forged Irons. Audio is a bit low.

Congrats to New Level for their 2nd win on The Champions Tour by Steven Alker. Well done.

I have a set of 902 PD. Also have a 623 MB demo to play around with.   I'll tell ya, there's not much difference in the size of those 2 clubs.  The top and sole of the MB is marginally smaller, but looking down at address they are pretty similar to my eyes.

I’ve been playing Bridgestone J40 DPC’s since they were released about a decade ago. They are a fantastic club but were getting pretty worn. I’ve been looking for a few years on replacing them but nothing seemed to be in the same ballpark. Thin top line, minimum offset, little longer heal to toe. I’m a 8 index but want all the help I can get. I stumbled across New Level and the information I found seemed like they could be the ones. I ordered the 902OS and in 9 days they arrived here in Canada. I’ve been playing Project X 5.5 but decided to take a chance and ordered them with Steelfiber i95 R.  On looks they are a 10, exactly what I want when looking down on the ball. We still have snow so I’ll have to wait a few weeks to swing them but damn I’m hoping they play good as they look.

I saw a video of Alker looking over the new stuff. He liked the 623CB as soon as he saw it, and then he hit a few shots. Not surprised he switched from the PF2. He’s a great iron player. Two wins, including a six-stroke victory, in his first full year on the Champions Tour is impressive. He’s got a bunch of Top 10s.

can anyone provide some insight into the difference between the PF2 and the  new 623CB. I like the PF2 lofts a little better and how they seamlessly blend with the old 902s as a seamless flow set.

From those that have gamed both… feel, distance, launch….???

Any comparison photos would be great too.

my apologies if I missed it in this thread.

Thanks to @dmeeksDC I got some 902 PD heads, 5-P.   I built them myself on some PX LZ 6.0 shafts and the first thing I need to note is that I only needed to use a 2g weight on the 9i head to get it to D3, everything else was just about perfectly there without adding anything.  The heads are as nice a quality as anything I have ever seen, really well done.  Just ordered the 4i head to complete the set but I got the 5-P out today for their maiden voyage and I have to say, REALLY IMPRESSED.  That preworn leading edge is my favorite feature on an iron head, just suits me.  These things feel as good as any iron I have played, distances are great and flight is true.  Through the turf, they are forgiving and sound really nice at impact.  I have played A LOT of irons over the last year, I'm not sure there is anything I don't like about these... I thought Srixon was a bargain iron at those prices, but dang... more people need to give New Level a look.  I have played Hogans and PXG and while they are good, I would say NL is the top DTC brand out there, hands down.

T, I think you will like those. I bought a PF-1/PF-2 combo when they first released. They are great irons. At the ball, one of the best profiles of any iron in the class. Yardages are generous considering lofts and the fact it’s a straight forged club (no trampoline magic).

Here is a semi detailed review of the 623 CB I am currently Gaming

That is a great review. Can you share profile pics compared to the 221…. I was surprised to see you compare it those. I have the 221 and they are some tiny irons.

in regard to the ZX7, I have been tempted to try those… how is the sole interaction? Are you steep?

The PF2 seem a little more firm than my Mizuno 221 and 223….. how does the ZX7 compare in feel to the 221??

did you really catch a lot of flyers with the ZX7?? I used to hit a lot of those, so clubs with that potential scare me…. Those flyers can kill a round. Died the ZX7 have a hot face?

I am steep and the V sole in the ZX7 was very good at redirecting you out, sometimes it was a little too good. I like to take a pelt. ZX7 are amazing clubs.

Yeah, I compared the two just out of convince, my 221 are gone but my buddy plays 221 I shoukd be able to get some comoarioson tomorrow!

I wouldn't say the ZX7 face was hot, but it was definitely a face that I felt gave you a little help. I wouldn't say it was anywhere near say a T200, but definitely a little more than a traditional CB. Yes I hit quite a few flyers from the rough compared to blades, 623CB or T100. Now I need more time woth the 623CB for sure but so far so good!

221 is mizuno soft but still blade firm in my opinion. Those and the P7MB are very nice though. ZX7 feel softer though. I mean they are like butter. I would definitely try them

Is the V-Sole detrimental to you if you are not steep. I am only a -1-2* AOA

Does anyone use the ZX7 with a similar AOA?? Or would this v-sole hurt a less steep swing?

You know I would have said no but a quick poll of other WRX topics says there is a lot of relief off leading edge so shallow and thin is no good

I agree that pickers and sweepers don’t do well with zx7. When you hit down it feels great but thinner soles work better for those folks like me

Hit the ZX7 today, they just do not agree with me. Heads feel on the larger side, top line is big…. Clearly nice irons. But just don’t work for me.

Your assessment on the AOA is spot on.

Played my first full round with the PF2 today.

great build by Tar_heel_93

these things are like throwing darts. Same build as my XFCB ‘21 irons, but the lower trajectory just tightens up that dispersion so well.

They also have a very soft feel, but it comes off as a little more crisp. I like it a lot.

the XFCB seem to have a little more forgiveness on my heel miss.

There also appears to be less offset at address in the PF2 vs the XFCB. This is helping me a little as I sometimes tend to close my face with noticeable offset and miss left.

I may blend the XFCB AW in with the PF2 because the lofts match exactly.

Very impressed with the new level irons. These clubs represent an insane value vs the major OEMs.

Does anyone have any more feedback on the 623mb?  I currently have the PF1/PF2 combo and love them but they are getting/are worn out.  My concern is the weaker loft on the 623's.  When I tried the 623m they spun way too much and flew too high and went a club and a half shorter.

I have but I like thinner soles and the least amount of offset possible which is why I love the pf1 so much.  Once I start getting into wider soles and offset I struggle to make good contact.

I am the same way. Supposedly the soles on the 902PD are thinner than the 623CB based on my convo with Eric at NL.

The soles on the 902PD are not wide at all.  The PW does look like it has a lot of offset but as you get up the set, the irons have very little..  My 902 PD are beating out all the big boys.  Great irons.

Can you share a picture of the PW at address? Maybe throw a couple across the set in there?

Are these your gamers? I am very curious about them. Trying to decide between these, 623CB or the Sub79 659 …..
