You’ll see less distance compared to a Paradym which is solely meant for distance. But, I assure you the accuracy from these more than makes up for it. For me, it’s a club shorter and I have not had any issues.

Yes, the Paradym 7 iron is 29 degrees loft. The 480DB 6 iron is 30 degrees. So the Paradym is MORE than a club stronger in loft.

We all get 14 clubs to cover all the shots we need so I don’t get impressed by strong lofts. Lots of ways to go about it. But I would expect the Paradym 8 iron and 480-DB 7 iron to go roughly the same distance. Of course, the Paradym loft structure creates the need for another wedge between the very strong pitching wedge (42 degrees, basically it is a 9 iron) and a typical 50 degree gap wedge. Otherwise you end up with an 8 degree gap. And then you still have sand and lob wedges. I’m not really a fan of carrying 5 wedges.

They have landed 480tc and after looking at srixon zx7 for 2 years these are skinny. I had small range session with 4,7,p. Actual course action tomorrow.

You'll get used to it fast. ZX7 topline is borderline game improvement and out of proportion to the type of club that it is. Will be very interested to hear your thoughts on the 480 vs ZX7. 480 launches higher and spins more for me. Especially interested on your thoughts on the differences in feel. Enjoy.

Hello - just dropped of my 480 DB demo with Tommy at Putter Around to be reshafted.

I had to look at the iron 3x to make sure it was the DB.

This iron is so clean and sleek. WOW.

For a GI this looks so much like a players iron.  Can't wait to try these!

I know I will lose distance compared to my Paradyms but hope its minimal and pick up on accuracy.

Since I'm not a long hitter I crave for every yard.  But these 480 DBs look amazing and I have a few NL heads that I purchased to try different shafts in them and the feel is bar none the best to me.

Keep you posted on my findings!

Real time on course review. Have the zx7mkii with Fuji axiom 125x  and 480tc with modus 120x. Hitting a ball with each iron from same place. The easy win goes to tc on turf interaction. The tc launches higher and has more stopping power. Overall I’m not sure modus 120x is for me but it’s nice to be able to go easy and crush it. Axiom I have to work more for in the longer irons. The tc’s are pin hunters for sure.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I've been testing the 480TC 7i and it definitely seems  its for someone who either is a picker, plays in tight conditions, or needs low bounce regardless.  Feel is fantastic, ball flight great, and looks as good as you could want.  Almost identical to my PXG 0211 STs in the looks dept.  The demo program is solid for testing purposes.  Highly recommend,  especially if you can match it with a shaft you prefer.

I run between 4 to 6 downward AoA, play in Virginia where it varies from hard to soft weather depending and have not really had any issues with the bounce. The low bounce did concern me some initially but it's been fine. I generally enjoy the tuf interaction from these irons but I would say when my swing got off for a bit and I got steep and over the top the turf interaction was not as good. Probably wouldn't have been very good with any players irons though.

480 TC and DB 7i heads to be paired with Axiom 105X's.  We'll see how they compare to my Takomo 201.  I might have to go to the local mat driving range (gag).

TC and 623CB are identical.  Just got them this year and though about upgrading but I might just hold off.  Very

happy with them

All good looking. The DB really is a goldilocks size. I definitely prefer the mild bevel on the New Level top lines. Looks more finished to me.

I have a full set of 480 TC now, but it's getting hard to resist pulling the trigger on some DB.  I'm just not sure how much real world difference i would see.

You’d just about have to use impact tape to see if the DB lets you wander a little more (laterally) and still hold ball speed vs the TC. Not a major size difference. Could be hard to tell, but tape might help.

When the DB first came out, I thought they would be like the 902 OS, which for whatever reason played like big irons to me. Had a long blade. But the DB is just a little

shorter heel to toe, or at least it looks that way, which is what matters. The shape looks nice.

What I am looking for is an iron to try with a DG standard weight R300 to see how it plays. Been getting great results with a little more heft and a little less stiffness than would be my on paper “fit” in my driver and fairway shafts. I like what it does for my tempo. I tried going light weight overall in iron shafts and there’s no doubt that did not work. Going up in weight made a positive difference. Fitter put me in Project X LZ 6.0 (ssx1) and that meshed. He saw no reason to stop there as long as fatigue does not become a factor. So I want to try a little more shaft weight (125g range) but I want easy loading. Just playing out a hunch. I’d probably start with a few heads.

But this is where New Level stands out. I can get exactly what I want, even have them 1/4 inch short as I like, and it’s still no problem to hit D3/D4 swing weight. The price is very reasonable and the 1020 heads feel

amazing.

I like the heavier softer shaft idea.  And you're spot on about NL building exactly what you want.  I'll probably get a 7 iron DB to start fiddling with.

For me personally I have a PX IO 8 iron X flex shaft in my 54 VS SPN wedge that is hands down out performing my other wedges I have or have ever had for that matter.  It beat out a T24 and SM9 D grind.  Pretty handily for me.  I like my irons to feel similar to wedges.  The PX IO 6.0 in the 4 thru P work pretty well for this.

Perfect. I put standard DG s300’s in my SPN wedges, also an 8 iron tip trim. I have 50SS, 54VS, 58VS. I also have an NL Tri-Weight 50 wedge. They’re all excellent. The SPN versatile sole works for just about any shot.

I went to the mat driving range this morning to try out the TC and DB 7i's and the crux of it is that the jury is still out.  I definitely need to use them on the course or drive the 25 miles to the grass range.  I'm a picker so, theoretically, using mats isn't that big of a deal for me, but I didn't think I was getting a good feel for them.

I will say, though, that even without a launch monitor, I could tell the TC had a noticeably higher trajectory than either the DB or the Takomo 201.  Yes, the TC has a higher loft at 34* than the other two (DB - 33* / 201 - 32*), but it seemed a relatively larger difference in height than between the DB and 201.  *shrug*   It's hard to judge distance at this particular range because there are too many "moguls", so I can't really say much in that area.

Standing over the clubs, the Takomo certainly has a more square top line and even though it is just 1 mm thicker (by my measuring), it seems like more than that when compared to the more-rounded 480's.  The TC has the most offset and I definitely noticed that.

Lastly, a quick kudos to NL as both the TC and DB 7i heads were right on-spec with regards to lie angle and loft when I measured them after installing them on the Axiom shafts.  I then bent both 1.5* upright to match my 201, playing at +0.5" over.

Picker here and the 480TC perform very well for me.  Some of the best feeling I have ever owned, good looks, workable, forgiving and consistent distances.  Not sure if it’s the low bounce or something else but I make better contact with these than I do with P790s, Apex AI200, etc.  Build quality was excellent and delivered to spec.  Has anyone tried the hybrid or driving irons?

I have their driving iron. I think it’s great and resembles in feel like the Srixon variations. It’s a soft and hot feel. Very much so like a forged iron. It doesn’t fit my gaps right now with the TC’s at 18°, otherwise it would be in the bag.
