This looks exactly like a club a lot of us are going to fall in love with... whether we should or shouldn't be hitting a blade is another subject!  They look sick!

Totally agree. I'm trying to tell myself if Ryan Moore isn't playing it you probably shouldn't either. Maybe just a PW lol.

Anyone know if the cb has a slightly chunkier sole? Looks like bounce is the same, so guessing not. I’m trying to enter my forgiveness era and play most of my rounds in medium to soft-ish conditions. That comparison photo is mostly making me wish I’d picked up a set of 480tc before they went oos (for lh). Now I’m starting to wonder if I should consider the zxi7 instead. That way I’d have the option for zxi5 long irons if needed, while with nl I’d have to go cb all the way through.

Btw, I emailed NL and was told lefty 702 would be available mid Jan. They also said builder’s corner/head only is coming, but didn’t mention when. My read was maybe both at same time. Maybe I need to just start with the 7 iron demo and assess from there

Based on the web photos I am expecting the 702CB sole to be slightly wider than the MB. Going to play like it has a little more bounce than the spec, but definitely still low bounce. But sole width can help a club dig less.

Srixons have an entirely different sole. You may be able to play both, you may have a preference. Best to try them on real turf if you can.

The new 702 line looks really good and I'm sure others have mentioned the Srixon comparison with the placement of the Tungsten. I never really got along with the V Sole so the NL would suit me better.  The top line looks slimmer as well.

Anyone have tracking info and expectations of when these will arrive on their doorsteps?  I am waiting for some feedback from this group before I order...

Ordered:

702CB 7-P, with Project X Rifle 5.5 (115g) swing weight D3. Standard loft/lie/length.

702CB+, 5-6, same shaft, soft-stepped once.

Gi22 5 iron, 1 degree weak (23 degrees), plus 1/4 inch length. KBS Tour Lite stiff (the Gi22 is on closeout, this club was only $69). I like a forgiving long iron from a set over a utility iron. By loft this is really a 4 iron.

All with the Blue Ice ferrule.

Mine have shipped via UPS and are scheduled to be delivered Dec. 27.

And your order will be built, as you know, to exactly those specs. Hopefully you can get out and hit them soon and let us know. Looking forward to the pictures comparing the CB and the plus.

Yes, I know we share an appreciation for pure forged irons. Let’s do it. Get together on a warm-ish day and you not only can see them, you can hit them. Can always try them on an indoor simulator if it’s too cold, but outside is better. Would be fun.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the 702MB almost looks like an updated original Nike Forged blade with a Srixon-ish sole and modern lofts?  I'm anxious to see how playable they are.  I have come from blades in the past (Srixon 965, Zforged, PXG 0211ST, NL Pf-01) and loved them but currently playing ZX7 MKII and like those....however these look very enticing if the blade isn't too small but they don't look much different than the 702+

Can't wait to hear how @dmeeksDC's round went and to see pics.

Question for other New Level users. I took my 480TCs out for the first time today. Love the look and feel, but the ball didn't seem to be going anywhere. I realize it's December and cold, but I'd be interested to see others feedback/experience on these compared to others clubs.

I think what threw me was all clubs seemed a good 10 yards short (if not closer to 15), which was a bit concerning. Not sure whether that much is do to the cold (today wasn't too bad), or if it's a sign of things to come.

On the plus side, they sure feel and look nice.

Depends what you are coming from. The 7 is 34* and I found them to be right on the numbers for me coming from 716 AP2s with the exact same loft. They will be shorter than the ZX7s, T150s, 243s types of irons that are a little hotter and lower lofted at 32* 7 irons.

You guys are awesome. Had a few laughs catching up on this thread. The clubs are here! They got delivered last night, too late to play, and then I got back late, but here they are. As often is the case, the web photos do not do them justice. They are gorgeous. More photos and comparisons coming.

I haven’t taken the plastic off yet so could see some reflections. One thing I like is how New Level includes a sticker with the exact head weight of each club. Also: Got a towel. The New Level towels are high quality and look great.

Top to bottom: 702 wedge and 7 iron, 702+ 6 iron.

6 iron face, 7 iron face. The 6 blade length is slightly longer.

7 iron from address

IMG_0767.jpeg.e0909613a053884f46256777aa066b1d.jpeg

7 iron top line: It is a nice looking top line. Definitely thinner than Srixons and nicely smoothed out. It looks excellent to me.
IMG_0768.jpeg.ff8207b3b6d9f37de223e964fd47e3d8.jpeg

Check out that softened leading edge. Allows them to put less measured bounce on the club but still has a sole to resist digging. I have found I like this type of edge going back to when the Nike Vapor Pro Combos were in my bag. I would describe the sole as medium, but on the thinner side of medium.

The Blue Ice ferrules sure look good with the Project X shafts.

More to come. Let me know what you want.

Awesome! They look great. Very interesting font they went with for the numbers lol

Thanks! I think the 6 iron is exactly where I might would split also so looking forward to hearing about that combo. How does the CB compare to the 480 TC in terms of sizing? And the plus comparison to the DB? Thanks again!

Yeah, not sure if that is retro or modern, but it definitely is small, which I like. Reminds me a bit of the font Henry-Griffitts used on their T12 tour blades, which was a very high end club. I have a set of Maltby PTMs with giant numbers on the soles and I don’t like the look. Doesn’t really matter I know but big numbers look funny to me.

I am hoping it warms up enough to hit these today because I can’t wait.

Going off memory here but my guess is both are slightly shorter blade lengths, with perhaps a little more trimming of the 702+ versus the 480DB.

I would say the 702 is smaller than the 480TC and bigger than the 480MC.

For my tastes the 480DB blade length was a little too long and when I looked at the 702+, my first impression was I like this one more. It’s a comfortable size to my eye. I’ll have a better idea when I hit them.

I’ll post more photos with the plastic off because that will look better. What I do is photograph each club with the sticker on so I have the exact head weights saved somewhere. Why I would ever need that, I don’t know, like a lot of things in golf!

I know we’ve talked multiple times about it… but do you own the MC as well or did you sell them off? Very interested to hear the size comparison of the MC/MB to the new TC. Last years TC were a bit bigger.

Now we’re talkin’. Here is the 9 iron unwrapped. A few more details: Tungsten in the toe of all heads, slot in all heads. It is pretty shallow and I am sure it is to adjust CG and to nail head weights.

That leading edge looks very similar to my J15CBs in the bag right now that need to be replaced. I'm assuming "forgiveness" would be somewhere between J15 and say i230?

I played the J15CB. Great irons. I think the answer depends on how much blade length adds forgiveness for you. The 702 has a slightly shorter blade length, but it also has tungsten in the toe to increase MOI. My guess would be it will be as forgiving as the J15CB and perhaps a little more forgiving, depending on how much you need that extra blade length.

While I am here, 8 iron comparisons below. Have a buddy here now with his Dynapower Forged. The Blueprints are mine.
