Got a 480 DB 7 iron head on here for $40.  Which I thought was a steal to try the new line.  Got it shafted w/ a Kinetixx Ballistic 90 (99g) shaft.  Look of the 480 DB is spectacular IMO.  A smidge smaller heal to toe than the 902 OS (my current gamers) and from my eye the face height is a smidge smaller than the 902 OS.  At address they look great.  Nice top line and nice narrow sole.  I have found that narrow soles work better for me than wider.  Even though I am not a great ball striker I find I strike a narrower sole better than a wide fat sole.  Nice clean look in the bag.  Just an overall great iron head.

On a side note, does anyone happen to know the head weight weighs?  I emailed New Level and they said 480 DB's came w/ 2g weights and TC's came with 6g weights in the heads, and they have an assortment of weights you can order.  I believe highest is 11g.  At work and haven't pulled and weighed the head weight.  Curious if anyone on this thread have weighed the weight from a 480 DB head.

Yea that is the total weight of the head that I got.  I am looking if anyone has actually removed the weight installed in the head and weighed it.

I love those Kinetixx Ballistic shafts. Very interested to hear how that combo plays. Agree with you on thin soles as a preference.

Here is a photo of two DB heads I sold. The one still in the wrapper is a 5 iron and the head weight on the sticker is 253.1 grams. So I would estimate 267 or so on your 7 iron. I have not removed the adjustable weight on any head. I order mine 1/4 inch shorter so that could call for a 4-6g weight as I request D2 swing weight and they nail it.

That would depend on the head weight that went into your DB. The stock DB weight is a 2g aluminum, but NL will change those for swing weighting purposes depending on the build specs. I believe the weights come in 2g (Al), 4g, 8g, and 11g (W).

Yes, that is what I was looking for.  I know my head weighs 268g total, but I have yet to take out the weight installed and weigh that individually.  I will do that tonight when I get out of work.  Those are the weights that New Level emailed me back with.  I will need to get my ducks in order and figure out the final build for my 7 iron so I can order the proper weight.

When I saw them on their website (they have since been taken down) they were charging $6 per weight.  I don't know if that includes shipping or not.  If you email them, they will get back to you and ask what you want, and they will then send you an invoice.  I just did this with them and that is the response that I got.

I will let you know how the combo goes.  Right now, it feels a bit lite and requires a smoother tempo swing.  I am going to splurge and order my gamer grip and also a couple head weights from New Level so I can get a true sense of how the club will be.  Unfortunately, my gamer grip are Grip Master grips and 1 grip is like the cost of 2 or 3 other grips..lol  I will post a pic of my club I had built.  It is pretty sweet looking if I do say so myself.  I got the Kinetixx Ballistic shaft in their Black color way and added a nice BB&F ferrule to it.

Very jealous! 👍 Please post a photo.

Those shafts in black are gorgeous. I think their original green color looked OK, but not stunning like the black.

I can game either the 95 stiff or 110 regular. I have even played both in the same round. Very similar performance, the 95 may go a little higher. (I think a lot of “stiff” flex players in the mid-weight range would really like the 110 regular.) Great thing about the Ballistic shafts is when you pure one, you can feel the “preloaded” power of the design. I really do not know of another composite iron shaft like them.

May want to try 2g strips of lead tape to dial in exactly which weight you want. That could be quite a set if you build it out.

You explanation of the "preloaded" power is exactly how I would describe it.  I get that sensation even more in the Ballistic hybrid shaft.  Right now, my best and most consistent club is one I sold and then bought back from the person I sold it to..lol  It is a Cobra Radspeed one length 5H (24* loft) in a Ballistic KG80 Hut20 shaft playing at 38".  That sensation you explained is what I feel in this club.

I have some 3M lead tape that I added (2" is 4g's w/ this lead tape).  But I need to change grip and see how it goes.  I will post a pic in this thread tonight when I get home.  If I had to purchase shafts over again, I would probably go w/ the 110g.  I have the Kinetixx TS wedge shafts in my wedges (115G) and these feel better weight wise.

Since I have these Ballistic iron shafts laying around thinking of building a short set of 480 DB's may be in order.  Go maybe NLU-01 5U (at 27), 7i (bent 1 strong to 32), 8i (bent 1 weak to 38), and PW (at stock loft of 45), and then add a 56-degree wedge.  Throw in a mini driver, a hybrid in the 20-to-24-degree range, and a putter and call it good.

Here are pics of my 480 DB 7i w/ Kinetixx Ballistic 90, Grip Master grip, and a BB&F ferrule.  37.25" playing length D1.2 swing weight.  Will place order for a 8g head weight to bring swing weight up to D4.2-4.5.

If this works out will order a 8i and PW head as I have more Ballistic iron shafts from my gamers last season to make a fun little short set for when I go walk and play for fun and exercise.

Hello - From what I have read, seems the 480 DB's are keeping up distance wise with Paradyms, 790's, ZX5's.  Even with the weaker lofts.  Must have a high boring ball flight.  Anyone see this?  Thank you

I haven't heard this report yet, probably overlooked it.  I'd like to see some comparison numbers for clubs listed.  NL makes some great irons and wedges.

Holy cow… first time out on the course. I don’t know if the precision used to hit a smaller club makes the difference but never have I hit so many greens and hit the distances needed. But the more and more I use these the more validation I get. Kudos… to NL

That’s excellent. Have had that experience many times with NL irons. I think there is something to it that a more compact iron works better for firing at flags.

Please let us know on the distances. My concern are those lofts compared to Paradyms and others…

You’ll see less distance compared to a Paradym which is solely meant for distance. But, I assure you the accuracy from these more than makes up for it. For me, it’s a club shorter and I have not had any issues.
