Was at the pga superstore yesterday and compared topline thickness of 480tc to all i.e. p7cb, 243, jpx tour (maybe slightly bigger), zx7 (maybe slightly bigger), apex cb, blueprints s, cobra tour (bigger) etc…

overall hardly any difference where that would be a determining factor.

There was a used set of “caley” irons, had to look them up. And I loved their flat topline look. They are more GI type but that flat square topline was so sexy. Anyone know of a players club with that kind of shape? I’m in love 😝

Looking for some more pics of the 480 TCs at address. Anyone have them they can compare with some ZX7s or T100s or any other popular players CB out there? Thanks!

716 AP2 left, 480 TC right. I have a ZX7mk2 that I'll snap a picture with it later. Bottom is just the 480 TC.

I think ZX7 is about as flat as they get for players irons although Takomo is pretty flat appearing in pictures to my eye.

Yup same, when comparing them at the pga store I was surprised they very comparable, don’t know why I thought the zx7’s would present themselves bigger, but not the case.

Which takomo? I just looked and not seeing it but that’s just on their website so pictures aren’t always the most telling from ads…

Appreciate the picture. Can you share any details on performance and your preference between the Z7 MKii and the 480 TCs?

I'll be honest, I only bought the ZX7 7 iron to compare and had the wrong shaft in it, changed the shaft and never hit it much after that because I had already bought the new levels. What I can say is the New Levels launch higher and spin more which I personally needed. The srixon is a little longer but it's 32 degrees vs 34 in the new level. Probably one of the bigger things would also be the turf interaction which I can't really comment on because I didn't hit the srixon enough the really know. I was honestly afraid to hit the srixon much after I bought the new levels of fear I might like it better lol. The new levels do pretty much everything I need. I'd like a touch more bounce because I'm not very shallow but that varies day-to-day. These NLs at 95 bucks is just lunacy. The build quality is tour truck and they can do anything you want. I asked them if they'd do 3/8s in gapping on lengths for me and they said yes. Ask Mizuno to do that lol.

Great info, thanks. Really just debating on whether to combo the 5 and 6 with the DB or just stay with the TCs the whole way through the set.

Any recent feedback on the SPN wedges from the community?

Stick with TC, these do not play like a traditional CB. There’s ample forgiveness to get the yardages from slight Mishits. I’m a 9hcp and have zero issues with 4iron and up.

Appreciate the info! Next up, figuring out whether SPN wedges are worth a shot as well.

Hopefully, we can get some more info from current users.

The  SPN wedges are 100% worth a shot IMO.  The VS grind is awesome.  For me is better than my D grinds in the SM9 and T24. It's forged too so has a soft solid feel.  It's very good for not digging for my swing.

I have the SS in the 50 and FF in 61.  I like these a lot too, but the VS is easily my favorite.

Couldn’t resist the BF pricing and snagged a set of 480 TC. Been a happy New Level customer going back to the original 902 and honestly miss the feel of their irons. Plus now my NLU-01 (best driving iron in the game) now have a matching set with it. Super excited to get these in for 2025!

You Will love them… I shafted with TT MID 115’s, what did you go with? Also, what is your NLU loft?

I have the 18° and the 480’s start at 4i. I do have a gap there with my 4i carrying around 185 (195 total) and the NLU 210-215 (225-230 total). I do agree though, the NLU-01 is incredible.

I ended up going with my favorite shafts - DG 120 X100. Crazy you can get this build at this price!

I use both the 24 and 21 degree NLUs. I fly the 24 degree about 220 and the 21 degree about 230. I’m actually thinking about taking the 24 out and weakening the 21 so I can squeeze another wood or hybrid in between my 21 and 3 wood. They’re so dang good though! Best I’ve tried and again the price is unbelievable with the shaft options you have!

Looks like that one Ryan Moore had in the bag from what I can see.

Pretty interested for this one.

Me too.

Good eye. I hope you are right! I mean, Moore does own the company, makes sense he would be involved in testing their new releases.

Maybe has a similar milling pattern to S55 but that’s not an unusual pattern. Lots of irons look alike but are not similar in design. S55 is a cast head and has a polymer cartridge inserted behind the face.

I assume the New Level iron is fully forged. i would expect it to be slightly larger too with a toe that is not so square. Have not seen them use tungsten in the toe of the long irons before but this one may have that.

Great breakdown. I loved the S55’s. Always felt they played far more forgiving than they looked so anything remotely similar in performance is a win. I say that, but also happily acknowledging that my current 480tc’s are better so if these new models are equal or better - extremely exciting.

The 480-TC is a great iron and it looks great too. Alker won the Schwab Cup with it!

It’s all about the fit for various players. Excited to see what they have coming and how it differs from what they offer now. I am also curious to see if the come out with an updated game improvement iron.

FWIW, I googled the model name (702cb) a couple of weeks ago, and there was a link to a product page for it with a description. Clicking the link took me to a 404 though. Tried it again just now and that is gone, but there is a link to a “702 forged irons landing page”. So yeah, I’d say it’s gotta be.

Now we just wait to see if it comes lefty. A forged s55 clone would be an instant buy.

I agree with @GolfGuy1717 on the shape. Similar to 623 CB, which is great. It looks like an s55 on the back. How deep or shallow is the cavity? It does not look very deep to me. Supposed to be more or less forgiving than the TC480? We’ll have to wait and see. It wins on looks. Very classy.

I may be wrong but just judging by looks it appears to be pretty much the same category as the TC.  I wouldn't think they would have an iron with the same lofts and characteristics as one they already have, unless it's being phased out.  Idk though, maybe It fights different or is weighted in a way that makes It play different.  Maybe more bounce or COG?

Sure like the way it looks.   Selfishly I'd like to see It off a 32 degree 7 iron, as is my preference.  I like the size of the TC but ideally I wish it was a 32 deg. 7 iron.

They're pretty low bounce so I haven't bent them.  Still play fine however.

Anyhow,  looking forward to 12-16 to find out.

Also wondering if phasing out or if this is already replacing the TC like when they phased out the 623CB.

Also wondering if they will have a line of players cavity/blades/slightly bigger as they currently have with the MC/TC/DB.

Anyways... excited for the new line and thankful for the few weeks to try to convince my wife I need them!
